here are jtk sets that you can get from taobao: 1. JTK Emerala, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=706345362715 2. JTK Shuten-dōji, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=709684952046 jtk is one of the manufacturers that make custom double-/triple-shot abs key cap sets, beside gmk and domikey, if you preferred thick legends. the ones made by pbtfans are with thinner legends. vertex v1 (v one) is claimed to be the 'improved cherry mx red', https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=711028850661
the custom switch is by vertex and jwick. according to the vendor, v1 switch will be made as a mainstream linear key switch. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « a note: the reason why known spring makers don't do gold-plating on springs is because wear-and-tear will cause the plating to flake off, that in turns can cause scratchiness. this might take time to happen, but it will happen eventually. however, if you have hotswap boards, and you don't mind doing cleanups when it happens, it's not really a problem. |

ways to fix contact leaf pings for tactile switches:
1. leaf shroud mod, https://imgur.com/a/8AMjWz9 2. similar to the above, but opposite, https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboard...itch_leaf_ping/ 3. lube. this video shows the right leaf to apply grease. that's the area that i apply lube for jwk linear switches to prevent leaf pings. however, you should try out no. 1 first. edit: in addition to the above, there is also one mod that paints adhesive on the back of larger leaf, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8gqMGk6VN0 .. and for no. 3, here is another one that actually apply at the back of the right leaf, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13gNSjEu7Bo note that for linear switches i just use grease to paint the back and the inner bend of leafs. What causes rattling noise on the upstroke?
I notice it happening on certain keys. Most reliably reproduced, on my right Ctrl, which I slam quite hard dozens of times a day. I daily drive KAT profile, and I notice the effect is reduced if I switch to Cherry profile for that Ctrl key. So my theory is that the springs are not heavy enough for me. That when I slam it down, and it releases, at the top of the upstroke, it "bounces" back down. The Cherry keycap is lighter so that's why the effect is reduced. I'm using a soldered build so swapping the springs is not a trivial matter. Anyone have any opinions on this matter? FYI I'm on THIC THOCK SPRING V2 - DL SERIES 65G, in a Boba LT switch. Whereas before this I was a tactile user, mostly utilizing up 67g springs but sometimes up to 80g springs in most keys, and even 100g on my 6.25U spacebar. |

Getting a poron case foam. Add it on top of my MG75 almost not existence case foam. Over all typing sound definitely better.
Yet mention i switched out all greywoodv3 from non alphabet to (clone? I am not sure) MMD holy panda. that switch 'kinda' match my need for typing on the number row. maybe will change all alphabet into holy panda if needed. Only downside, the MMD holy panda stab itself quite wobble, not sure how to fix it |

i just realized that after getting so many packs of tx 67g 14/15mm linear rated springs, i have built nothing with them. it's time to use some with a new batch of jwick black v2 for my next build.
tx springs are good springs for those who like to minimize relative inconsistency (with deviation controlled within +-1g). edit: JTK Shuten-dōji is not bad. all long keys are straight. This post has been edited by horns: Apr 14 2023, 10:58 PM |

Guys, i've this old cheapo Fuhlen RGB mechanical keyboard bought from forumer. Some of the keys got double click issue, and some not working anymore. It has a blue Kailh switch, was wondering if it is fixable? below is the pcb.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « If it is not worth fixing, what mechanical keyboard is great value buy now? I found cherry mx keyboard quite affordable, but it is not a hot swap kb. Tecware phantom+ looks good too, pricing is cheap and its a hot swap KB. |

QUOTE(chaics85 @ Apr 18 2023, 04:21 PM) Ok. will try to remove and solder a new switch in. BTW, any recommended switches to get? How to know if the switch is compatible with the PCB and RGB pin? If you’re only changing 1 key, you likely want the same switch. Any clicky switch would be alright I guess. Any gateron/cherry switch should work. Just make sure it’s a 3leg switch. If it’s a 5 leg switch, you need to cut 2 of the legs. You can select switches with a transparent/translucent top to maximize shine though. — I just finished building a MG108W 100% keyboard for my friend. Total cost around RM400+ MG108W - USD30 (wireless 100% keyboard kit) Gmk Saber alter clone keycaps - around Rm90 Haimu whisper tactile - around RM200 Tape mod + PE mod Feels much better than many overpriced gaming keyboard. It’s also very silent. This post has been edited by LegendLee: Apr 19 2023, 09:28 AM |

QUOTE(AthrunIJ @ Apr 3 2023, 12:32 PM) I see. not sure ur price range. but g913 had been around rm600+- during lazada sales. cheapest i seen is rm580 from legit seller for full size. tkl is slightly cheaper. g815/813 is definitely cheaper. Reasonable as in normal retail price and not mark up O well. Might just get the wireless instead. i have 1 and really like it. been using it for about 4 years+. it is really good for typing but if for gaming i feel that I prefer the traditional mx like key better cuz the key will sink deeper. give a little bit of extra satisfaction during gaming. |

Wait for sales then. I prefer wired 815 than wireless 813 but since doesn't have in Malaysia. Will just get that instead. Thanks This post has been edited by AthrunIJ: Apr 19 2023, 11:04 AM |

The heartbeat silent linear switches are smoother but still scratchy when compared to other linears I used. - Gat yellow pro - Gat oil kings - KTT mints But of coz… it’s still miles ahead of gateron & cherry red/brown… This post has been edited by LegendLee: Apr 19 2023, 12:23 PM |
