it's not really a sensitive question. it's just mutual respect to each other.

eventhough i don't have such an issue, i still constrain myself from bringing loud boards to office. lo-key is my thing lol

sometimes i wonder why the straightness of epbt's modifier keys and space bars are based on luck, while shenpo's are just always straight.

to prove this, i have tested almost every cherry profile set from shenpo, including their dye-sub pbt and double-shot abs. shenpo's key caps are relatively thicker in many cases (dye-sub especially).

note that there are short comings in shenpo's caps, compared to epbt or crp, so shenpo is definitely still having many rooms for improvement. this is especially true if you talked about details that are related to visual qualities (e.g., sometimes relatively blurred legends; and somewhat deformed caps). however, in terms of typing feel, they are ok imo (there are differences, but only can be observed with side-by-side comparisons)

i think new key set makers like shenpo should just make their own sets, instead of making clones.

Not sure how true it is but I've heard that makers like Shenpo and Xiami don't actually manufacture their own keycaps - as in they buy blank keycaps from another manufacturer then dyesub their own legends onto it. In fact, some have speculated that they both sourced from the same manufacturer until Xiami blew up in popularity and has now changed to another supplier to keep up with demands. So, whoever their supplier is has to take credit for their good quality thick PBT blank caps.

This is for their PBT sets only, didn't even know Shenpo has double shot ABS caps. But I doubt they have the capability to produce double shot ABS sets if they can't even make PBTs.

ePBT I believe has their own manufacturing line from producing the caps to dyesubbing (they are backed by KBDfans?). Not quite sure about CRP but I believe they manufacture their own as well.

yes i have read about shenpo and early xmi sharing the same manufacturer for blanks. yes, the manufacturer should get credit for supplying good blanks.

however, in the case of dye-sub sets, epbt is experienced, while shenpo is still relatively new. since epbt has own facilities for pbt blanks, it should have better controls on qc, and with experience to handle large-scale gbs for years, they should know more on how to handle deformed caps during sorting.

i still get epbt key sets, and i have no issue fixing warped long keys. i just wonder what is happening in the background that proper qc cannot be done for epbt.

perhaps it's really due to the volume of orders that epbt received, while shenpo's still very small.

You would think that ePBT would get better with experience, but I've seen feedbacks that say they have actually gotten worse since their earlier days. It might be true that it's just a case of not having enough manpower to sort out the warped caps, but you would think that after so many years, shouldn't they at least have improved on the manufacturing part to not get as many warped caps? Maybe it's not so fair to compare Shenpo/XMI to ePBT when one deals mainly with beige/white caps only while the other does all sorts of colours (5-side reverse dyesub). I've also heard good things with Cannonkeys' PBT sets though I've never seen any in person, and like ePBT they do coloured/themed sets. For a relatively newcomer to do better? Not a good look for ePBT. Personally, I don't buy ePBT anymore these days unless I really like it.

i know there is no persistence in their work. i have old epbt sets too. back in the days, only few made thick pbt key caps. recently there are many new comers, and they produce notable alternatives.

shenpo's also doing 5-side reverse dye-sub, but yeah in smaller numbers. they only do it for certain modifier keys and space bars.

competition is good for us consumers. i just hope epbt will improve their work.

i have some questions and hopefully some good fellas here would be able to answer me

i quit mech kb around 2014? and recently started feeling itchy again.

my favourite switches then was 62g ergo clears, but then i switched to vintage blacks 58-62g (?) and fell in love with blacks. what are the switches that comes close to them? i also noticed in mechmarket that theres a lot of different switches name now.. im getting old, too many names to remember lah

back when i started collecting mech kb, acrylic custom keyboards were really bad, but nowadays i see a lot using polycarb material, i saw that the lin montage polycarb is really sexy, but seems to be hard to find, anything close to that you guys can suggest?

i am currently using a tecware tkl with gateron yellows (this one got me itching again). also is it still hard to get those 55g topres?
