PS: yet going any MKB shop to test, since my location have none of these, hence go full online buy hit and run whatever this go perfect or bad. (so far i doubt it will go bad, just maybe not perfect)

I would not suggest the NJ80 over the Q1. If you wanna go cheap plastic then an RK84 or Akko would be a better buy.
Go to MKB and go touchy feely the Q1 first lah.
If you wanna keep backlit keycaps then you need a north facing led (ask the MKB guys what that is) in which case you should look at an Akko Mod 006 or 007 (knob) for alu casing.
Otherwise stick with the Q1.
Ulti value is still a QK75. You might find one in FB Mechmarket or just wait for the next group buy.

how the other 5 kit than NJ80?

surely, for myself NJ80 is the 'worse' kit in my list. just some baseline, especially looking on pricing.

less likely i will go MKB shop, because less of time.

I’ve seen some relatively positive reviews on the next time 75… but as a beginner myself I’m also not sure if it’s truly value for money.

Currently I’m still waiting for my Monsgeek m1 to arrive.
Technically my first custom to replace my razer huntsman.
Will be pairing it with Akko lavender purples and ninja style rgb keycaps too.

Heard that’s quite a good value entry level keyboard but it’s mostly out of stock now… newer version slated for release in a few months though.

thanks for comment (as this 'hobby' quite special and make this tered slightly quiet)

The shopee seller i talk with also suggest i go for full aluminium case (with reasonable price)

Current his suggestion is:
M1 pink
Graywood v3 with shop hand lubed+filmed

since i try to make pink theme, keycap maybe will not get from them.
i have no idea how to hand lube or film...so far knowing is pasang all these hotswap item.

since will use this keyboard for home gaming pc. i not sure theres a need to get such luxury keyboard (not price, for its look and build material)

any idea?

I think a good keyboard will provide a much better typing experience. I know my wife would appreciate me using a thocky keyboard a lot more than those razer clickies.

I got the pre-lubed switches too coz I’m lazy.
Planning to do the tape mod and the holee mod on the Monsgeek when I receive it.

I think it’s a good time to get into this hobby. Compared to several years ago (before keychron), good quality custom keyboards are really expensive and a lot of them aren’t hot swappable.

Btw. Take note the Monsgeek M1 uses south facing rgb.
Most typical rgb key caps won’t be very bright with this.

I am fine with south facing LED, because me not rgb-gang as long as it shine the keycap as backlit.

me personally wont double or triple mod it (maybe, in future not sure)
so i just buy one, straight using it...maybe just changeout the switch or keycap to what i fav
other than that i think not much to touch with

just the requirement:
-75% aka 81/82 key
-arrow key with divider with other key
-wired, wireless is optional
-with double step stand
-rgb backlit needed, bur no need super fancy rgb

* i edit this post later. on the way now

hi guys first time planning to buy a mechanical kb after using normal membrane kb for my whole life. Looking at Akko 3068B plus and Keychron K6 and Akko 3098B. Or any suggestion for a kb under RM350? Prefer hot-swappable and little RGB too! Thanks in advance!

I personally suggest you go Tecware Phantom series. I am using it now with gateron red.
Me also using membrane keyboard forever, even the last 'high end' keyboard before is SteelSeries Apex 64145, i will tell you phantom absolutely nuked it away.

i thought krayden already gave his suggestions to you? he even suggested options that he thought good, in terms of value for money.

a lot of things are personal choices. it's really up to you to decide. this include the need to get a 'luxury' keyboard mainly for gaming.

the general idea of this hobby is always to tune your own boards to fit your own preferences, in terms of typing experience.

usually it starts with shaping own expectations first, based on repeated first-hand experience, so that you can choose the right combos of your choice later, in order to make boards that are the closest to own preferences.

yes, hotswap boards bring convenience to users to learn basics of board tuning. again, it's really up to owners to pick things up for themselves.

Since the Monsgeek I ordered from shopee took too long... I actually went ahead with some unknown China Keyboard for office use.
Needed something with Numpad, Bluetooth and a Knob.
Thus I went for the Mathew Tech NK98t
Added some Pre-lubed Gateron Yellows and the Drop Skylight keycaps and I'm quite satisfied with it.

I did check out the Gmmk pro too, but reviews online are a bit of a mixed bag. With most asking to just go for Q1 keychron.

Talking about the Q1 keychron… it might just be better to fund the Kickstarter for the Q1 keychron pro… though that means more waiting time.

yes, there are plenty of things that you can do to make your boards better. just go ahead, pick a board, play to learn more.

usually, stock boards are not optimal, including switches, top plates, stabilizers, cases, and few more parts. it's really up to us to make them meet our preferred typing experience, within their physical and keyboard construction limits.

for instance, by switch and stabilizer tuning, you can already feel the differences, but you don't die die expect tray-mount can be sebijik like gasket-mount (because they are different plate mounting options). these things stack on each other to make the final outcomes.

yes, it's a mixed bag, mainly because we all have different preferences, and there are always alternatives, maybe with cheaper price, or better features.

imo gmmk pro alone is not a bad kit, after tuned, compared to many options. however, yes, you can also get keychron q1.

Ya. Need to get the keyboard first to know it suit my style or not.

Most likely i will adapt myself to new keyboard since i using alcheapo mechanical now.

Yep, i didnt put too much expectations from the research i make, because that just 'research' without touching the real keyboard, but surely i expect better build quality as M1 itself already aluminium and gasket.

I think aesthetic is very important in a keyboard too.
The Q1 looks a bit too plain imo. I like the side brass accent or side lightning on the Monsgeek/GMMK pro.

Agree. Because if i go q1 will be buy pre-built version with stock keychron keycap and their gateron phantom switches. Not only look plain, boring too.
Not sure about their 2nd hand market price, at china their price not really good. So if later even only change keycap, you will keep one set of keychron boring keycap in hand....

buy cheap play cheap. there is nothing wrong with that. in meetups, i have tried bad prebuilts that were tuned to become something that were relatively acceptable.

also, pay more for expensive kits only if you can appreciate them. it doesn't mean when you spend more you will get even better typing experience. tuning plays an important part in every build.

mechanical keyboards give us more options to tune, based on own preferences for long-term typing comforts. they last a long time, and are repairable/maintainable. that's why it's worth the time and efforts spent on board tuning, and use good parts, and lube.

gasket-mount is forgiven. you cannot find minor faults with it. to help tuning, it's better to use those with top/bottom-mount/integrated plate imo.

different strokes for different folks. i mainly care about typing feel, because my eyes are always on screen when i type, and i listen to music when i do that. hence, i look for 'features' that can enhance typing feels (like clean key strokes, with minimal or no vibration)

these are all personal preferences. just get and do what you want.

agree the 'buy cheap play cheap'. there nothing wrong with it.
at the start i actually wanna to buy basic barebone kit like sky104/108, get gateron red (where i using now, so it wont go wrong)
and i manually lube all switches and stabilizer, but times go i have no time to do so. so going plan 2, buy custom build that already done the job.

mostly i wanna try how all these fine lubed switches and stabilizer feel. so later i can tune my phantom too
because phantom already giving super good typing and gaming experience without all these extra move, maybe it will become slightly better.
