it's mostly about 1.5u ctrl and alt. i guess even the best qc processes in manufacturing can be beaten by higher than normal demands. it's a sad news indeed.

edit: in the reddit thread, gmk's rep is there to collect information. please check and report.

I bought a keykobo WOB set recently from Clickclack and found the backspace was totally loose on the left stem hole.
I contacted clickclack and they sent me a replacement backspace key which is great.

nice to know that smile.gif

the presence of a gmk representative in that reddit thread should help a lot in resolving the issue.

i assembled monokei tomo. it's a good 75%. everytime i build kits like this, i always have the same feeling about quality gaps between entry-level, mid-tier and highend kits. it's better to learn to identify these gaps, and don't take them for granted.

in a nutshell, beside things like designs, features, materials, and goodies, it's the overall build qualities of a particular kit that matter the most. this part is mainly related to manufacturing and quality control of the kit, and two key qualities are involved:
1. precision. precision in machining/manufacturing is crucial. everything is manufactured and processed according to strictest possible specifications, so that the assembled units are as close as possible, compared to renders. the impacts of this quality are obvious when you put all the parts together, e.g., screw holes and threads are precise across all parts (e.g., top housing, plate, bottom housing, weight, backplate). when you install the screws, you don't feel resistance; rubber feet fit well in their respective locations, with no weird deformations, etc.

2. tolerance. usually, highend kits show relatively tighter tolerance between parts. (tolerance is an aspect in manufacturing to control things like consistency and accuracy of manufactured parts, so that they can fit and work together nicely) this is not only about internal parts of the kit itself, but also about external parts, e.g., plate openings for key switches, openings for pcb-mount stabilizers on pcb. the end result is that everything fits nicely, e.g., top housing, plate, bottom housing, weight, backplate, key switches, and stabilizers, with minimal rooms for free play;

some of the main outcomes are that in the case of highend kits, the whole build process is relatively smooth experience. there is no need to use any force to complete it, and they look refined, and pretty.

however, the quality control process to achieve and maintain desired build qualities of the above require additional costs, time, and efforts. this usually means money hehe

again, qualities are subjective. e.g., i can listen to loud metal music all day long, but i don't consider it loud enough haha so if possible, kena rajin join meetups or related activities, to shape your own first-hand experience better.

if this person was active here before this, you should be able to find out through older threads, e.g., mkb, garage sales section.

about gmk's twisted stem issue, this is gmk's official update thread, https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboard...ted_stem_issue/

it's good to follow the report thread also, https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboard...ps_know_before/

apparently with the help of vendors, gmk can fix this kind of issues quickly. i guess this is one of terms offerred by gmk to vendors, when they subscribe to gmk's key cap manufacturing service. gmk's corrective measures include identifying their own tools that were used to produce sets with bad caps proactively. this in turn identifies all other affected sets. it's really a well-thought and matured corrective process.

tkd cycle7 by vertex and equalz is a good kit that everyone should not be missing. it has a frl-tkl layout (f-rowless tenkeyless). what it offers at the base price of 700myr range is crazy.

.. and it uses ball-catch assembly to hold everything together.

er you should know that the keyboard construction of this kit is similar to what is implemented in those priced at 350usd to 400usd. now you can get it for 139usd.

imo frog tkl is more refined. however in terms of values, i think cycle7 offers a lot.

tbh, cycle7 is nearly 2kg already, thanks to its internal and external weights. almost all the weights are at the bottom case (which is a typical construction that is found in high-end kits)

He's selling on shopee/lazada - mechhaus. I remembered how some regular posters here got hot under the collar because his cheap keyboards were better than the corsair(or was it CM) models which they were also selling which had a defective design which required some soldering to fix.

Any recommendations for a bang/buck budget backlit PBT keycap set (87)... Was looking at the Tecware pbt keycaps, the non-pudding one and was wondering if theres anything better at that price point or close to it.
