Frankly, I always thought stainless steel must be silver color (am I correct?). And presumably, stainless steel would be heavier?
Lighter gate means anyone can just lift it and derail easily??Automatic Gate, How much do you need to install one ?

QUOTE(weikee @ Jul 22 2013, 05:17 PM) Unless the gate weight tons, if not SS or aluminium still easy to derail. Just need a crowbar. You see how some "security" area, the gate have two rails, that will be hard to derail. Yeah I tend to agree with weikee. When I first started researching on folding gates, there were comments like its very easy to lift-up and derail it (hence not safe). But at the same time, heavy gates also tend to wear out the motor faster, hence making it easier to be worn out. After going to fairs and testing out trying to lift up fully aluminium folding gates, its really not that easy to derail it. And frankly in Malaysia today, robbers don't need to derail your gate to get into the house, they will wait for you that's all. So to me aluminium sort of gives the best balance (in my view), its light, rust-free (that is what they guaratee), and modern looking. |

Curious where can get a better looking wall push switch for autogate. Mine is those 2 button type (Press 1, Press 2) that supplied by developer. Any place in Klang Valley have better selection?

Just wondering do you all have any preference for swing type or sliding type auto gate?
Any particular pros & cons for each type? |

QUOTE(bruce07 @ Jul 29 2013, 02:46 PM) hi guys... can recommend contacts for auto-gate with motor, alarm and sensor??? gonna make a 14 feet gate for hse... Stick to any autogate system to your preference and forget installing alarm and sensor. Is a total waste of money. What's the point of having the alarm when it won't inform you when there is a alarm triggered via phone calls? Unlike your home alarm system is connected to your house phone line or GSM module, it will immediately calls to the numbers programmed in your alarm system to inform you of an alarm triggered. My advice, don't waste money on alarm system and sensor from autogate system. Is pointless. For DCMoto GFM 925W already has a built-in siren inside the control panel. Which there is no extra cost from my installation since is provided in the package. You have the panic alarm trigger function came with it. That's good enough to chase them away. Get a proper alarm system if you want to protect your assets inside your house. Remember the golden rule of autogate, is only meant for mild protection and the convenience of having it that you do not have to get out of your car to operate your gate system. Any theft can break in to your house no matter what autogate you install when it has big intention to break-in anyway. They could have just climb in instead. |

QUOTE(ryancfs @ Jul 13 2013, 01:12 AM) Just to upadate, I too had my DCmoto swing installed by Winson yesterday morning. Took ard 2hrs. Winson workmanship very good. His macai even water-level the control box to make sure it is perfectly straight and Winson level the motor arm attached to the gate. Finally, didn;t install the black rubber to hold the gate, not necessary. You can install everything first, test it and if you want you can install the rubber after testing. All in all satisfied. Are you using DCMoto GFM925W? The movement wasn't smooth to your experience is due to the fact of having 3 speed movement. Is your swing gate installed with ball bearing side holder? But the movement to not perfectly smooth, maybe all auto swing gates are like that. First time using automate. first swing to 45 degree is high speed when it reach 70 degree is medium speed when it almost reach 90-100 degree then is the cushion speed It's programmed to move in such a way it doesn't wobble vigorously upon opening and closing. Compared with screw-driven arm autogate such as OAE, it only depends on two speed. One is running at 24V and 10-12V for low speed. DCMoto GFM 925W operated at max volt of 16V and then reduce to 12v then 10v. |

QUOTE(H2D @ Jul 15 2013, 01:32 PM) i'm not sure about other motors/brand ( not arm type ) For DCMoto slider, you bound to experience this jerking effect. The reason behind is because of having 3 speed movement.i'm using dcmoto for slide, the motor movement's noise is like wht u said not smooth.. in canto ' chok-ha chok-ha' liddat but u don't see ur gate movement ' chok-ha chok-ha' , it is the internal gears i think... or they kenot program it to go fast n slow smoothly like a stepper motor??.... Why 3 speed for sliding motor? Reason as below : - minimize having loud banging during opening and closing (when coming close to the end of the opening or closing sequence) - Since it doesn't utilize magnetic/contact switch to stop the gate from operating. It release on counting mechanism to operate (consider it as the most advance technology ever created in the history of autogate) Even Italy DC Motor still relied on contact switch to operate. - during the final speed (cushion speed) the voltage has been dropped to the lowest some where 8v-10v it bounds to be like harmonic frequency sound due to low power to push the gate. Is very normal to experience this effect. - because this kind of DCMoto sliding operates, it will open and close the gate firmly. Thats when you hear those internal gears being tighten. Not to worry of reliability, it will last. Because it's gear-oil filled gearbox which can last somewhere 5 to 10 years depending on how well you take care your sliding gate roller bearings. |

QUOTE(~Battousai~ @ Jul 12 2013, 03:53 PM) It depends on your folding gate.Anything less than 14 feet will felt slow for DCMoto GFM 925W, reason is the length is too short and it has 3 speed movement. Doesn't have much space for the high speed to maximize it's potential I would recommend anywhere from 14ft to 20ft. The GFM925W works wonderful. Image below is a 23feet length wrought iron gate. Is very heavy due to 1.9mm thickness in which standard iron gates uses 1.6mm Operation time is roughly 12 seconds. And it's powered by DCMoto 925W |

Hey guys, seem like DCMoto 925 is one of the highly recommended motor. My contractor has recommended me D'nor 712 for a 13ft folding gate. Any users can comment on this brand?
