Sat in my brother in laws new Perodua Alza highest spec just this morning. At a price of just RM70k+, I believe it is the best value for money MPV in the market at this moment. The overall quality of the car is very good for the price, great interior with nice design at the dashboard and centre console, nice door panel which looks and feels premium and high quality. Colour conbination of burgundy red and silver trimmings and grey panels look elegant in real life as the burgundy red is not striking red like the photos you see on the internet. In real life the burgundy red looks more like dark burgundy. And comfortable seats. There is a lot of space in the 2nd row and 3rd row which adds to the comfort. Also, the suspension is good which soaks up bumps quite well with a smooth and not so bumpy ride. Wind noise and road noise are quite low with overall NVH being moderately good to excellent.

Didn't get to drive the car as I was sitting in the 3rd row of seats. I was told that the power is good, no issue whatsoever. Bookings have shot up the roof as I was told. To those who still have doubts whether this vehicle is worth the money, I would say it's worth every penny you pay for it. I don't think you can find any vehicle offering better value or performance in the similar price range as you need pay above RM100k to find something comparable if not better.

Was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to side-park into a narrow lot, the bulk made it seem longer than its Vios length only.

Hi, if highest specs new Alza, is it recommended to add in seat cover since the seat come with semi leather? But the full new Alza cover (gear up) will cover the original seat semi leather?

I went to test drive but met a newbie sales advisor I guess as he didn’t know the tinted brand, the ASA functions in details..

The car seems good around 90-100 km/h? I feel a bit under power even using power mode but a family car will be good.

I also noticed that the car will not hold the static condition but gostan-ing when in D mode and no pressing any pedal. Is it normal?

If I'm not mistaken the optional leather cover for the whole car only costs RM1k or less than that. That's a, very low price and the material should be synthetic leather or other cheaper material. My brother in law has bought this optional leather cover but the stock has not arrived yet. The cover should wrap the seats of the vehicle and not replace them. In other words the original cover seats are not removed as the new cover just wrap over the seats.

The issue of under power is subjective. I was told that the vehicle was tested going up Genting Highlands with 6 or 7 full sized adults, some large size and the vehicle has no issue going up to the destination. As you have aptly mentioned, this is an mpv used mainly for ferrying kids and/or old people above 70+ and not a sports car so most people will find the power to be adequate since it will be mostly driven at low to moderate speeds 60 to 100km/h.

dont buy gear up leather cover. it is add on top of original seat & not worth quality.

for cvt gear u want go fast. just pedal max. nonid change mode. 2nr enjin cukup pakai
upward slope u have to press brake fully one time in order to activate hill assist

The catalogue written the optional leather cover is made of PVC. That is the reason I check with you guys first as the original semi leather seems better quality , if cover up then….

Main advantage of the gear up cover seat is it is water proof. The semi leather original seats is not waterproof. For families with small kids and babies, waterproof leather or pvc seats will take precedence over semi leather although the latter is higher quality since it fits the purpose. Hence I don't think he will be disappointed with the optional upgrade since the price is very low.

If one is looking for higher quality leather, the cost will be much higher around RM3k or higher. In the end it depends on what the person is looking for.

Yes. Pvc not leather. I saw the catalogue before but forgot. I knew it won't be leather since for RM1k or less for 7 seater cover, the material won't be high quality. It is just a budget option which fits the purpose since most people buying this mpv are budget conscious. If looking for waterproof seats mainly for small kids and babies, this pvc option seats will be suitable.

That is the reason I plan to buy this car especially my wife already told me we have a 2nd baby. Civic too low for my wife to get in and down. My myvi lagi best still very good although almost 10 years old. Plan to get rid of civic first since no more warranty and price still high. Then after several years get another segment C or D sedan.. but wifey said better trade in my myvi. This myvi is my first new car after my graduation. hmmm…. What u guys think? Share me some ideas please.

If you need money, the civic goes.
Else the much older Myvi (sentiments aside) since a MPV and a C/D segment sedan is the desired combo.

Btw if u order the Alza now, think can get before baby arrives ?

Alza is just nice seating height wise and comparable to myvi although the 2nd gen alza is slightly lower. Both myvi and civic retain good resale value. The question u need to ask and know is who will be driving the new alza? Your wife or yourself. The next question to ask is who will be driving the myvi and civic? Which car will be more in use, civic or myvi? My guess is myvi throughout the pregnancy but after your wife given birth, she should have no problem going back to civic.

So if i'm u, i would trade in myvi for alza. Main reasons being myvi is much older - may due for major wear and tear replacements and lack of latest safety features. In the future when u plan to upgrade again, trade in civic for suv or d-segment cars.

5 weeks plus , this coming wed will confirm it via ultrasound.
My wife period very accurate and this is our planned baby. So timing ⏱ very tally with our pre-planned.

Nowadays , my wife and I share a car to work. Office just 3 KM away. Yeah, I also thinking the same. Just that I feel one of the car might be very underutilized , maybe only weekend drive (50km max per week)

Am thinking so also. Last service as SC, most of the wear and tear parks being marked NG as I previously plan to change all these parts (front and rear absorbers, bearings, lower arms, bushes, engine mounting, stabilizer links, supports absorbers…) , 2018 tyres.. two worned and the other two still good.

Third party parts for above rm1800++ excludes labour. I believe SC easily charged me rm3-4K , add on tyres might be rm5k max.

Thanks all for your advise

the prime seat cover cost RM1K. Material PVC. It will cover up the original semi leather seat. But the prime seat cover red color not matching (bright red) the 2 tone maroon interior for AV spec.

The car okeyish around that speed. Feel underpower/slow pickup due to CVT compare with 1st gen Alza.

The car gostan-ing? Are this at slope road (bukit)? If normal road its a bit weird.

Just a bukit road, I intentionally no press the pedal and the car gostan-ing , my civic also cvt but won’t like that. If you guys go test the car, can try? It reminded me the old preve, I test drive my brother in law car, at D mode that time also gostan-ing a bit , not sure why. My old myvi also won’t like that. Perhaps as per previous forumer here mentioned, I need to press the brake pedal then only hill assist mode on. A bit weird for me, at that time, the new Alza in normal mode, I only turned on pwr mode when at the main road and feel better.
