QUOTE(Kiefer @ Mar 14 2023, 02:51 PM)
Hi All, from the info on the net as well as motoring videos, all mentioned same engine as well as same DCVT.

I don't think Veloz uses Direct Shift CVT as the approach/how cvt works is opposite of D-CVT (dual mode cvr).  this D-cvt has been used in Ativa, new myvi and now Alza/Veloz and soon to be Vios.  D-CVT is not really that new.  Anyone heard any issue with this D-cvt???

On engine, Alza uses 2NR-VE (78KW at 6,000 rpm, 138 Nm at 4,200 rpm, slightly tuned up) *same as Veloz.  which is also same engine as Myvi (76KW @ 6000rpm, 137 NM @ 4,200).
This engine is on Aluminium block.  From production point of view as well as cost saving, best to leverage what avail for lots of model.
*
It was mentioned that Veloz uses their Toyota normal 7speed CVT which is also used in the current Vios.

The current 4th gen AC100 Vios uses Daihatsu's DCVT used in Ativa, Alza & Axia.

Why don’t u try it out and let us know? Lol.

It’s a compact and budget mpv so don’t speed like “king” on highway and most likely you will be fine.

Firstly you either trust or disbelieve the Asean NCAP rating provided by JV of Miros and Global NCAP org.
Not the car manufacturer.

Then you view the criterias for the rating, eg. Head on Collision test is done at speed of 64 kmh.

Hence for Alza if you wear your seatbelts properly, airbags deployed and you hit something in front at speeds until 64kmh, likely will still be alive after the accident if you do not have any preexisting medical conditions.

Currently using pedal lock as an additional anti theft measure. Other than that, I don’t park at darkly lit areas or secluded areas. So far so good. Touch wood.

If you're taking 9 year loan to buy the car.... perhaps you should reconsider that decision first. One of the main benefits of buying new vs used is the warranty, if you're just going to void it direct then better buy used right?
*
Thanks @LostAndFound for the advice - agree on that, I think I will upgrade to H then.

RM80 a month can be little.. but for 9 years means 108mths x 80 = 8,640.  You might want to see if all other extra worth for  you or not.

If can just get 5 year loan.  worst case 6-7 years.. but check the loan offer for all these options.

Install with plug and play, no cut wires should not void warranty, should only void the player warranty.  Plug n play should be okay.. worst case, swap back to original player if need to claim anything else. hahaha.

Hope no claim needed as we want the car to be no major issue.  I am only worried more on the dcvt.. but again, the dcvt already years in market from ativa, myvi...

Thanks, @Kiefer, for the advice, and I think I will upgrade to the H model for less worries. Just to confirm the Reverse Camera in Alza H is the camera located at the rear car plate area, to aid parking right? Not the rear camera on the back window?

Agree with LostFound & Kiefer it is not wise to take 9 year loans for car purchases. (to put it politely)

Some sohai might say for better cash flow, can invest the extra cash for better returns blah blah
but 99% of buyers plainly do not have the money for higher monthly repayments.

Max is 5 year loan to coincide with end of warranty.

As for rear camera, my whole family driving without one, me for 4 decades. Why not practise more and do without it.
Society getting less capable?
*
Thanks for the advise @dogbet_chew, I will think about the loan tenure period. For the reverse camera it's because I need to reverse park into my house and there are kids. So it's high priority for the reverse camera. But yes I'm still horrible with parallel parking

Back window black thing is window washer... you can spray water there... just push the wiper stick in then it will spray at back window
