but according to SA, the service center can blame on anything when there is warranty claim/issue, so, it depends on luck.

This oil maintenance is different from the periodic 10k service is it? I guess the distances is the estimation only and it depends on how you drive?

I saw some people post in the fb group, their oil change reminder is around 4.5k only. Haha

Civic same engine/turbo as HRV v, but the oil maintenance very different
mine currently overdue by 600 km... but should be within the 1k allowable limit during the service 2 days later.

No traffic jams bro. The trick is to not idle your car engine. I never warm up/warm down by leaving the car on idle, and very seldom kena medium/heavy traffic.

The longer you let your car on idle, the worst your engine oil life will become.

just in case/pointing out, traffic jams, any duration sitting in traffic not moving = lol oil life counter.

but, in this case for your wife's HRV and my wife's Civic, matter of 5k/10k difference (ignoring the few k variances from the actual monitoring) on the first actual oil change service.
did they determine the HRV engine is more robust? or did they detune the HRV a little bit compared to Civic? or did they improved their oil so that the interval can be longer to 10k instead of 5k for first oil change?
or just shitty technician being inconsistent on the reminder reset/setting?

yeah it is within 1k overdue (currently 6k km) and yes 10k km/6 months this weekend
actually 28 Aug, but we got plans that weekend so decided to do a week ahead, + that overdue reminder is annoying lol

i am thinking to service CVT sooner at 20k km next service, but we'll see. to discuss with minister lol

Oil change has always been 10k/6 months OR maintenance minder balance, whichever is sooner. Not sure why my wife’s HR-V maintenance minder popped up with 12,500km from 1,284km on the odo (it first showed - - - - - for the first 1,283km), normally it would show up to 10k when combined, or just a bit more. Not sure if they changed the calculation method, or it was just the way my wife drove / her daily route.

We both encounter little to no traffic daily. My daily work drive is roughly 13km & 15 minutes in total and hers is roughly 43km @ 40 minutes in total.

As I mentioned on other threads (Civic 10, Civic FE), on the FC, I could only get up to 100km extra for the Engine Oil Life (5.5 years ownership experience). The FE so far I could get 700km extra (7 months ownership experience). This is the first time I see anywhere (forum boards, FB group etc), that anyone could get close to 3,800km extra

So far, people have been posting they encounter terrible engine oil life of course.

yeah that's what i meant, typically it is 10k/6 months whichever first and then reduction or addition, minor variances depending on the oil life monitoring. which we have deduced that it is basically engine run time x km (maybe even calendar date or time included) calculation(s).

hence my food for thoughts above, or just lol @ Honda Malaysia inconsistencies

how did you gotten extra 3800 km though from 12500 km? 12500 - 3800 > 8700 lol
that's a bit confusing lol.

it's 12,500km oil life balance when I've driven 1,284km and supposed to be changed at 10,000km.

Thus, 12,500km + 1,284km - 10,000km = 3,784km extra.

nowadays seem all car come with service reminder.

let's say if after warranty, i dont want to follow the schedule, maybe 13,000km or 9 months only service, and i want to service outside also, is there anyway to reset the reminder?

hmm, my current jazz hybrid have identical FC, 22 to 24 km/l 50% 50%, full highway can go to 26km/l , seem not much different on the new e:HEV technology.

But the extra probably doesn't matter since you're doing the periodic maintenance anyways.

Otherwise need to go extra times one for periodic one for the oil life
