V9 continuation from previous thread. What a crazy past few years it has been. With COVID transforming the job market, alongside with Great Resignation in the US influencing work culture everywhere else, some changes to format has been made. If the previous thread's revision is to provide a more comprehensive view on total remuneration (as single salary numbers are often deceiving), this round's changes in format is to capture latest trends of Work-From-Home, more annual leaves and future growth prospects.

Monetary payout - SGD13.5K

Previously working in MY for about RM20K. I am super glad that i took the number cut and come to SG.

I can rent a nice 2 bedder condo, eat decent food, and still save 20k myr a month (around 6k sgd).

Mind sharing more on why did you decide to go? My 20k should nett you 14.5k, and if you stay in KL, monthly expenses should be 4.5k. You should be able to save RM 9-10k while likely having a better quality of life. In SG you do save about double, but I believe that comes at slightly lower quality of life?

MY 20k nets me around 14k.
Condo was around 3.2k
Car was around 1.5k. (3 series second hand)
Other stuff comes in around 5-8k.
Every month i was saving 2-3k myr

SG 13.5k nets me around 12.5k (no cpf for ep holders)
Condo was 4.3k
No car, take mrt
Other expenses comes in at around 2k
Splurge on food comes in around 1k a month
I currently save about 3-5k a month (10-17k myr)

The only thing that really changes is that you gotta take the mrt.
Which i am ok with.

I find it hard to believe that you spend only SGD 2k to get what you spend RM 5k - 8k. There is certainly a lifestyle change. Plus, for Condo that you spend RM 3.2k here, that's should be quite a nice condo. You should be bale to downgrade to make things comparable with SG.

Plus, you get a BMW 3 series here. There are cheaper cars.
