I thought it's the other way round, hybrid more power than the petrol, coz it has the double mechanism to push the car forward. Not sure what I understand is correct

If you drive both back to back you will know what I’m talking about. Combined power output if you floor the pedal might be more on the Hybrid (for initial acceleration), but honestly you would not be looking at any Cross model if flooring the pedal was your goal. For more regular everyday driving situations, the 1.8 G/V models will give you more power with less pedal travel. The most noticeable will be uphill, at the expense of poorer fuel economy obviously. For example, overtaking a bus/lorry going up a hill – the pure petrol model will overtake easily with pedal press 1/2 way down, while the hybrid might need 2/3.

Yup, this is the way Toyota have configured the Prius/ CT200h/ Corolla Cross Hybrid.

If looking for power upfront, wait for MG3 Hybrid

Even Honda configured their Hybrid acceleration differently than toyota.

I would still say Honda are more driver centric when it comes to that. Acceleration of Honda eHev model still beats the petrol model in this case (not flooring, just regular drive).
The normal acceleration are stronger and faster than petrol version making it a joy to ride (unfortunately Honda and Toyota still tuned their hybrids for petrol savings thus no G-force type of acceleration no matter how high they quoted their motorised torque, haha, all marketing gimmick).

I would say I like the Honda way of doing this better than Toyota. Of course this implementation difference also makes Honda with more parts to wear out and replace in long term maintenance. What to do, Toyota have already copyright the planetary gear propriety tech already..

Once you reach high speed, any pedal to metal acceleration will have the motor torque assisting the engine to add a burst of pickup power instead. You can somehow identify when the motor work and when the engine work or combined their power.

In toyota with their planetary gear setup with combined power output from motor and engine, I am unsure how to differentiate when motorised or engine comes in at times.

Aiyo, long writeup..

Want power upfront in Hybrid? Wait for Morris Garages bring in their MG3. Below is one of their early models

Oh...sorry, I mean when combined power output, I can't differentiate when motor or engine running the car coz the planetary gear will switch automatically thus stated as both. Complex but very efficient.

Won't this make the hybrid less fun to drive if one has to floor the accelerator more compared to non hybrid versions?
Back then, people actually installed stuff like Sprint Booster in their cars just to reduce the accelerator movement, giving the feeling of having a more powerful engine.

Yeah, once you are running a hybrid, you'll be more obsesse on how much you can coast, how much regenerative braking, how long it works on electric motor alone and so forth. Want instant torque and speed, get a turbo car without hybrid.

About 700km per tank. Now only pump petrol once every 2 weeks.
