I've already requested the termination via Twitter and the 30days countdown has started.

Will the owner still need to visit TM Point and do I need to return a landline ?

Thanks
*
Definitely nothing to return. But you may try calling 100 to check just to make sure that you do not need to go to Tmpoint to verify and thumbprint for the termination. I personally think their social media personnel is not as reliable sometimes.

It's the same, how to change to private IP to get rid of the netflix blocked content?
*
It's not the matter of public or private IP. If the content is block in M'sia then use VPN to bypass it.

Oh boy this not music to my ears. I’m waiting for my Unifi to be installed these few days. May I know which country do you normally use for your VPN? Reason for asking, Netflix also gives me problems when I use VPN to stream. They sometimes don’t load the movies correctly. If I was to use Malaysia VPN will the content be blocked too? Any idea? TQ

Presently I’m using mobile internet so I don’t have problems with Netflix.
*
I do not find myself needing to use VPN as well. But previously used surfshark bought from shopee seller just so that I can register for something reserved for U.S customers. I think you should not worry much. Just use your Netflix as usual unless the account is bought from somewhere unofficial.

QUOTE(Sherman Kong @ Apr 26 2022, 12:20 PM)
Actually, it's not blocked, as i have confirmed with one of the netflix customer representative that the show is available in Malaysia. They have no idea how does it happen too. Yea, i did think about the VPN method, but my family watch the show on the Smart TV, so i have no idea how to install a VPN on the TV?

Could anyone shed some light on how to solve this issue?
*
If that's the case I am out of idea lol. Maybe it only happen to specific IP range, or maybe TM routing screwed up during the time you want to watch.

You can get a tv box less than RM200 with twice the amount of RAM during sales season. laugh.gif

Do you know what is the penalty for terminating your 2 years contract should you decide to switch ISP? The remaining months contract will costs you thousands! Just for a RM200 box? shocking.gif
*
What is a good box under RM200?
Put other issues aside, 800mbps for RM159 is a good deal and most people who got this deal are surely to stay on, unless Time comes to their place.

QUOTE(petpenyubobo @ Apr 28 2022, 12:08 AM)
Not due to Netflix or your home hardware.

It's due to TM's bad management of IP addresses /range which resulted in Netflix servers not recognizing the IP addresses as Malaysia origin.

This same occurrence happened many months back before first with Cloudflare public DNS last time. TM using bogons or what we call illegal IP addresses which they did not announce properly with their ASN causing Cloudflare to resolve TM IP address as US or some other country instead of Malaysia.

When you reset your router, you changed IP address because you relogin The new IP address was then re-recognized as Malaysian based IP and it got you through.
*
Thank you. Learn something from this explanation.

QUOTE(petpenyubobo @ Apr 28 2022, 01:02 AM)
They still have few other choices. I was just suggesting to the public on how to be a better consumer. Is that wrong?
*
Not wrong, Just that most of the other choices uses TM's infra and are often subpar in terms of technical support and hard capped speed. Unless your area has other infra from Time or Allo.
But there are still some reason to choose other provider, like better value and pricing especially if combine with certain postpaid plan.

Yea.. it appears after I restart the router (I wonder why it works lol), but after watching it for 1 or 2 episodes, it will come out with the error message

Edited: If i have to restart the router just to let my fam to watch that shows on Smart TV, it would be a hassle, because my mum and dad doesn't know anything about this thing, they will just ask me to come and help everytime it occurs. So I'm thinking what if I'm not home, who would help them? They noticed that it is quite troublesome to keep calling me for help just to solve this Netflix issue.
*
I think suffice for you to tell them that each time if there is a problem watching Netflix, to just turn off the router plug for 1 minute and turn it back on. Then wait for about 2 minutes for the internet to connect and should be able to open Netflix again.
QUOTE(jiaen0509 @ Apr 28 2022, 01:57 PM)
I got offered the TV Box RM20/Month be free. But contract for HyppTV 24 Months.

Worth to add it? Is the TV box any restrictions? Or can bring to anyway as long as got Internet and HDMI cable?
*
I think not worth it RM20x24 months. If they offer you free box and maintain pricing then is ok.

What is your average download/upload speed for 800Mbps?

Mine speedtest about 400Mb Download and 200Mb Upload.

Is it normal?
*
Is your laptop/PC spec high enough to be able to obtain 800mbps? Sometime there could be bottleneck that cause you unable to achieve that speed.

Yes can sell. You will use it until finish contract anyway, not wanting to pay heavy penalty for termination before contract right?

No charges correct? Just wondering cos last month someone said TM charged them for the visit to replace the modem.

I think can only find out when bill arive. Because the RM50 charge is billed to customer and not paid directly.

Hi guys, I’m wondering, when TM replace your modem and you are using your own router, will TM set it up for you? Or you have to do it on your own? Thanks
*
No need to setup. Just plug back the router and it's good to go.

Hi, wanna ask. Are unifi account exchangeable?
Say I have 2 home unifi ( different location). 100mbps at kampung and 300mbps at home. Can I swap the router so that I get 300mbps at kampung and 100mbps at home?
*
I don't think so. The speed is capped at the exchange in your area.

QUOTE(pretty23 @ May 2 2022, 11:09 AM)
Hmm.. wonder how the telephone home line setup? Set in modem? or follow account ? swap it can affect the phone line ?
*
The phone line is set in the modem which connect to the exchange at your area. You cannot swap the phoneline.

Is it because customer FFK in the first place? I just install unifi (or rather transfer from maxis). During registration, tm cs keep reminding me don't FFK the appointment. If you're not sure if you are free, then just ask them to reschedule. Once confirm and you FFK, there will be a charges to schedule another appointment. Mine only come to install a router and change lan port to 1st slot for unifi. Done within 10 minutes.
*
No. this is talking about the RM50 service charge. Charge for rescheduling is different, in the range of RM100 or RM200 to reschedule installation.

Ah, thanks, so I'll be at the losing end if they approved the transfer request sad.gif
*
Basically, you register with other provider for transfer request. Then bring the transfer ID to proper Tmpoint for thumbprint verification. At the same time you ask for the Staywithunifi plan. If Tmpoint offer you the plan, you can tell them to cancel the transfer. If Tmpoint doesn't want to offer you the plan, then you decide whether to proceed with transfer or to cancel it.
To begin with, this staywithunifi is not a fair plan, because there will be some who unable to get it, and they continue paying the same price for slower speed plan. But as long as there is demand, ISPs will keep playing this game of unfair pricing to consumer.

Maybe you can try restart modem and router later today and do a speed test. Usually quite efficient, less than 24 hours already done upgrade.

Wanted to ask, all Streamyx migration to the Unifi Fiber mandates a new contract of 2 years?

Unifi Team said generally the IP address given under 30mbps don't have non-cgnat IP but we can request to it post-installation. This adhoc change trustable?
*
I thought if you are on streamyx all these years, you already on private IP. Yes you can request public IP, but whether they want to give you is another story. May ask for proof of the need to use public IP.

QUOTE(jhleo1 @ May 23 2022, 01:25 PM)
Transfer to other service provider if don't want 2 years contract.
*
This is misleading statement. Even if you transfer to other provider, there will also be 2 years contract. If do not want contract, then terminate and use prepaid plan.

QUOTE(filage @ May 23 2022, 02:49 PM)
They didn't ask the phone back from you? how you get confirmation that it's perpetual and contractless? They have you a handout statement like Bank Loan contract with the TnC everything? Coz it seems they just mentioned it by word on phone and text message we not sure how to get the confirmation officially and non arbitrary way.
*
Weard during those days when I change from Streamyx to Unifi, no need to return anything. The phone can be reuse on my Unifi.

QUOTE(fookhing @ May 24 2022, 05:24 PM)
Can someone enlighten me for TM to install Fiber in my upper floor bedroom, basically they will pull a wire from the pole and clip the wire along my walls on the balcony, come in through a floor gap on out balcony to bedroom door (this was the way the old copper came in), and then clip it some more on the wall until it reaches area where I want to place the BTU Modem, then they will make the small box thing- attached box to the wall and bring out the smaller blue / yellow wires out to connect with the BTU modem?

We have a ethernet cable that runs through a sealed pipe from upstairs to downstairs but I don't suppose we can insert anything into this pipe anymore right?

In future if we want to migrate the modem/router location to downstair, we only can connect the BTU upstair with the ethernet that runs via the pipe to downstairs and bring a router downstairs, connect to it. That's the only way? ie. There is no practical value of installing the BTU downstairs?
*
For free installation, they will find the easiest root to go through. Perhaps as mentioned by you above. If you want to customise the installation you can nego with them, subject to additional charges.

What's STD20 and MTU?
What's the benefits of maintaining unifi ID vs new ID?
*
STD20 is for free 600 minutes call per month. No benefit for maintaining old ID versus new ID, it is just the way how TM do the setup for your Unifi.

QUOTE(laytiong @ May 30 2022, 01:44 PM)
TM is up to their case by case offers again.

My dad's case was abit different.

1. Streamyx 4mbps user, upped to 8mbps during Gobind Singh's time.
2. Had to go TM point to remove the TV pack which serves no purpose but to profiteer TM.
3. Fiber finally arrives flat, proceeds to apply package Streamyx to Unifi 30mbps plan.
4. FAILED because the damn TM website keeps redirecting to new sign up.
5. Applied for 30mbps @RM89 but when installer came, was told it was upgraded to 100mbps @RM89 for life
6. Found out installer used someone else's ID at home router and modem + router was not the same serial number as on job sheet
7. Ding dong a few days and had to go TM point to settle #6.
8. Speed then got capped to 30mbps in early May
9. Argued with TM over the phone as bill shows 100mbps, installer and TM point counter says package is 100mbps but port is capped at 30mbps
10.Gave 3 option to TM, restore 100mbps@RM89 OR 30mbps@RM69 or allow no penalty termination
11.TM offer 30mbps@RM69 for 1st year, RM89 for 2nd year.

Will cancel and port out to Time after 24mths, stupid TM.

I have another account which I went to another TM point to get SWU300mbps, given the confirmation sheet but package on website didn't change after 2 mths. Speed still capped at 100mbps.

Gonna have another visit to sort this shit out.
*
They are doing this case by case thing since ancient time. You think they dare offer stu plan to all people? You have to beg for it time and time again and it is all depend on luck.

Rang 100 and is given one option to upgrade to 100Mbps with a new Unifi box and maintain Ultimate pack for additional RM10 i.e. Rm159 monthly.

Unifi box will be couriered for free, otherwise if TM technician installs it there will be RM80 one time charge in the next bill.

Not worth it unless you really need the Unifi TV.

btw, I'm still in contract, from Sep21.

It may work for some, but not everytime. If TM want to be mean to you, they can choose not to offer anything but impose penalty for termination within contract.
