Fyi, .......

https://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/09/realestate/09posting.html - Improving Cellphone Reception in Tall Buildings - 9 Jan 2011
.... Such problems arise on higher floors because most telephone carriers have installed antennas on building roofs relatively low to the ground, to reach cellphone users on the sidewalks. Until recently carriers had not anticipated such demand for cellphone access up high. ...
= so, floor levels higher than 30th floor of a tall building may not get any cell signal.
.
Also, 5G cell signals (on frequency Band N78/3.5GHz) have weak object/wall penetration = 5G devices should be facing outside, eg near windows or balconies.

Maybe, try adding a SIRIM-certified 5G cell signal booster for 5G phones or an external antenna for 5G modems.

I just applied for a Yes 5g esim. Speed test for about 15 times mostly got about 30mb+. Only 1 time more than 90mb. And experience the line gone out of service few times during my test. Even just few seconds. Seems unstable. Is that normal? Will it perform better in a router?

YES is known for its unstable connection, I was also an user of YES, but it always gone out of service, cannot tahan then change liao
That's also why currently their 5g package is the cheapest

I using Yes 5g flexi + tplink deco x50 for 3 days. The download speed is mostly 280 to 300mb only. Good enough for me as long as it is stable. So far I didn’t experience disconnection. Performance already much better than my Unifi and maxis fiber 30mb previously. I can see some ppl complain when their download speed ONLY 500mb not 1gb…. I don’t aim and don’t need that fast speed. Very satisfied with my slow speed at 280mb for the price I pay. 😆

Can i ask any apps that can let me lock 5g only? Using realme 11 5g , after i turn off airplane mode it pop out 5g then minute later drop back to 4g

Using maxis currently

Not sure if we can lock to 5G only. I may be wrong, from my limited reading, our 5G network is currently a NSA one, so need an anchor band of B28 (LTE) to assess 5G (band n78). So i guess we have to allow our modem to detect both LTE B28 and n78 to enable us to get connected to 5G signal. Hence, probably we can not lock on 5G band only. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The thing is, my area got full bar 5G and yet after a few minutes my phone would go back to two bar 4G. Wonder why it doesn't stay at 5G especially when the alternative (4G) signal is so weak.

.
Afaik, very few Android 5G smartphones support DNB's 5G mmWave 28GHz/Band N257. Even the iPhone 15/Pro/Max do not yet support it.

Note that the closely-packed 5G mmWave smallcells (like Wifi routers/modems) that have a limited range of about 50m and are easily blocked by objects/walls, are mostly only deployed in high foot-traffic areas, eg downtown city-centers, mega shopping malls, concert halls, sports stadiums, mega office blocks, etc.
....... So, 5G mmWave is of not much practical use for most ordinary consumers.

Use cases for 5G mmWave

Fixed wireless internet access: 5G mmWave gigabit data rates can completely replace a variety of Internet access technologies with hybrid fiber and wireless networks that connect subscribers.

Outdoor small cell for urban/suburban environment: A promising deployment scenario for 5G mmWaves is to increase capacity in demanding public spaces and venues.

Mission-critical control application: Self-driving cars, vehicle-to-vehicle communications, and drone communications provide similar deployment scenarios for 5G mmWave with less than 1-millisecond predictive network delays.

Indoor hotspot cells: Offices, shopping malls, and other indoor areas require high-density 5G mmWave microcells. These small cells can support download speeds up to 20 Gbps, providing seamless access to cloud data and the ability to support multiple applications and various forms of entertainment and multimedia.

Internet of Things: Potentially, it covers smart home applications, security, energy management, logistics and tracking, healthcare, etc.

The growing pains of the mmWave device ecosystem

The South Korean example offers a cautionary tale regarding 5G mmWave readiness.

In 2018, three operators — SK, KT, and LG U+ — spent 620 billion Won ($435 million) on a five-year license for the 28 GHz spectrum. As part of the license conditions, operators had to deploy 15,000 base stations by the end of 2021. Following an audit by the Ministry of Science and IT (MSIT), KT and LGU+ had their licenses revoked, and SK Telecom was reduced by six months. One key challenge operators pointed to was the need for a mature mmWave devices ecosystem in the market.
