Yesterday I had a chance to try out Maxis's new 5G .
Lets just say its like Fake Taxi . No I dont mean it's very hot in performance. Fake.
In comparison with the Unifi 5G, Unifi's 5G is faster and stronger signal.

Indoor wise, where I live, hard to get Maxis 5G vs Unifi. Like Chipsmore Cookies, but worse. Whereas Unifi gets stable 5G indoors , where I live.
Based on Maxis coverage map, I'm covered in 5G coverage but maybe they dont take into account indoor.

Outdoor in a car, barely can get Maxis 5g.

This morning had a chance to test outside my house, where I managed to get stable 5G , ran speedtest and I was expecting to get 300MBps but ..a measly 30Mbps , like a 4G.

Anyways thats all for now my update on this new Maxis 5G. If they are really using their own 5G network , this is despicable. If they are riding on DNB's 5G network (which I read they already signed , finally, Maxis) , then the engineers seriously need to tune it.

All 5G are currently only provided by DNB. Your indoor issue should be due to interfacing OR congestion from Telco to DNB 😞

As to lousy signal in car, that's a given. Metal shell great at absorbing signals. That's why phone case mostly plastics OR glass etc 😄

Good luck with Android running phone.... Sure battery drain even faster since the phone is not efficient like iPhone....

I believe YES still has switching problem. I stopped using it last month and gone back with yoodo. Hate it so much because the problem appeared to be on their side since yoodo managed to implement volte on 5g very smoothly.

i tried yes before

it is very bad when you are travelling around and rely on waze, because the signal keep jumping between 5g and 4g, after jump few times the internet basically gone shyt. and yes 4g the speed is pretty sucks.

meanwhile i am currently using tunetalk, but after ask customer service, only the Hi35 and above plan eligible to request got 5G trial. otherwise you are stuck with 4g.

meanwhile maxis/celcomdigi plan is not cheap, rm40/month, i looking for rm30 plan

You might have to look for second hand ones. Even a new mid range level is around 6xx

YES 5G ping rates very high not very suitable for fast action gaming.

Dunno why maybe their lame core network and routers cannot cope with high amount of traffic or their backbone highly congested with inability to handle high volume of concurrent connections.

.
Note that many 5G smartphones in the local market do not support DNB's mmWave Band N257 (28GHz), whose small-cells (look like Fiber Internet routers) are mostly deployed in downtown city centers and high foot-traffic venues like mega shopping malls, mega office blocks, concert halls and sports stadiums. Band N257 can reach 3Gbps download speed.
....... IOW, many 5G smartphones only support DNB's Bands B28 (LTE 700MHz) and N78 (5G NR 3.5GHz) which can reach "only" 1Gbps or 1.2gbps. ........

28 ... 700 MHz (703-743, 758-798) .......... ........ 2x 20 MHz

78 ... 3.5 GHz (3410.4 MHz and 3511.2 MHz) .. 200 MHz ... ........ 5G NR .... Govt assigned 200 MHz to DNB
257 .. 28 GHz ........................ .......... .......... ......... ......... ............ ........5G NR .... Govt assigned 1600 MHz to DNB
