QUOTE(unknown_2 @ Oct 17 2022, 03:17 PM) not officially launched yet. Just got my sim yesterday. When I call, it doesn't drop back to 4G.with DNB pace, long way to go. recently they did a demo where can call without dropping bck to 4G, that's SA. This definitely feels faster than 4G but it's so unstable indoors. Coupled with YES lousy 4G, not sure if I would recommend it to anyone working indoors. My workplace from one end to another is about 220ft and while one end (storage area) is fine, the other end totally sucks (drop back to 4G). QUOTE(coolguy_0925 @ Oct 20 2022, 08:02 PM) Since all telcos now signed or will sign and use one company providing 5G services I wonder. Does that mean the 5G coverage for all telcos will be exactly the same? Having tried Yes5G for a week with my Realme GT Neo 3, there are lots of connection problems. Sometimes calls work with 5G, sometimes it does not. Whenever it didnt work, data also stopped working. I had to manually switch network preference to 4G just to get both working again. This is not ideal. Another issue is signal penetration. My workplace has covered parking and guess what, no 5G when I'm sitting in my car. It is not even a concrete or huge covered parking as the front and rear of my car is slightly exposed. I walked a few steps out the parking and I get full bar (160~500Mbps). Walking 4-5feet into the office and again no 5G. Holding my phone against the wall also result in no 5G. I walked onto the first floor and get full 5G signal with speed ranging between 600-700Mbps. |

QUOTE(mlamlam @ Oct 22 2022, 06:53 PM) That's why you need a phone that can lock the 5G band. I think unlike 4G, I don't want to force 5G. Why? I already mentioned sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Moreover I need to manually change to 4G in settings to make everything work again. I described 2 different problems but you only read 1 of them. The phone found that the 4G signal is stronger than 5G then possible will drop back to 4G, it does not mean when you sit inside your car then no 5G, but what is sure that 5G signal is running on n78 and signal strength will significantly loss when pass thru concrete or other barriers ... That's why indoor antennas are needed and not sure DNB has any planning of building those or not |

Now I know why sometimes 5G can make calls, sometimes cannot. Finally downloaded 4G/5G toggle that allow me to check network info (*#*#4636#*#* is blocked on my Realme GT Neo 3). It seems like something hanky panky going on with YES 5G setting. It seems like phone showing YES 4G network despite being connected to 5G. Hence, when the network speed is fast 160Mbps ~ 500Mbps, I cant get any calls. When the network speed is absymal like few Mbps, then it is connected to 4G and calls would go through but phone is still showing 5G despite being on 4G network. xiaojohn liked this post

QUOTE(wong_86 @ Oct 28 2022, 10:01 AM) DNB is trying to monopolize 5G spectrum and the use MCMC to fine Telco that didnot cooperate with them. We are very far behind in 5G networking because of this First step to monopoly. How? Control everything while trying to phase out older technology gradually. By the time they ended 4G, telco would have nothing. DNB control mobile network, TM control fiber. Then create a BMF entity, sell services to them at BMF rate to beat the Big4. Then dakwah they done something for Malays, whereas crony own everything. BOTAK_WAI liked this post

QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Oct 31 2022, 03:36 PM) Even if red team wins, it's already too late to close down DNB, since the progress is already halfway, also the fact that there are too many contracts to terminate (eg: Ericsson, Edotco, Austral Techsmith etc.) and they would have to pay huge sums of penalty, at most I think they would just change the policies and let telcos own all the stake in DNB. DNB is not a bad idea, but I dont support government having a piece of it. I would rather have every big telco in it, then roll it out economically. There's no need to cover 80-90+% of Malaysia with 5G. I think you only need to cover 50% with 5G and then push 4G with higher minimum speed. But of course, Gobind did quite well during his time in the ministry so I expect better policies and solutions when he's back, fingers crossed for red team. |

As more telco launch 5G, I see the shit picture with 5G. All of them still stick with the quota based internet while the speed increase between 10-40x. I'm guessing they will start to intro new package with new absurd pricing for 5G users.

QUOTE(D.gRave @ Nov 19 2022, 05:23 PM) Quick question, is 5g now is selected models only or as long your phone is 5g with the band is able to use? My cousin also with S20+ korea model. Checking via *#0011#, found that S20+ (SD) can detect Band78 but refused to connect. Instead it connects to band 28 but phone still display 4G LTE and speed test around 200Mbps.Coz s20 5g never get 5g despite in 5g area. |

QUOTE(kidmad @ Dec 14 2022, 09:48 AM) just avoid it.. last month i was on that RM30 package.. but use for a week i have to port out again now on celcom. Nah, it was fine for my usage. The 5G tower is directly in front of my workplace. I'm getting over 1gbps.it's super unstable.. many places do not have a connection and even when there is.. somehow my phone Vivo X80 couldn't logon to their network again until i turn on and off mobile. I was on tune, Maxis and now Celcom all do not have such problem. PS: Celcom just additional 5 bucks for more or less the same package. except for the "unlimited 5G" |

QUOTE(mlamlam @ Dec 12 2022, 04:21 PM) Only losers would prefer monopoly. Competitions is good for any industry. Imagine Singapore so small also competing. There is no need for force 5G for all Malaysia. That's why I disagree with DNB. Rural area can afford the pricing? Heck, I don't even think they should abolish 3G. Celcom 3G network is the best I have ever tried compared to Maxis and Digi. It would give a decent speed between 10-15mbps. This is more than enough for e-learning. They should instead focus on affordability and reliability, not trying to push agenda like covering whole Malaysia with 5G by making everyone pay extra just to cover the rural area. |
