but you can never guess when exactly you will be able to offload 13.

Yeah, over the years the iPhone’s perceived resale value isn’t as good as it used to be, but I wonder if this year is worse than previous due to the USB C? Those hardcore iPhone fans with plenty of lightning cables and don’t mind buying a used one will have plenty of choices this year!
