If got old passenger, just ignore cars like civic la, i'm only in my mid 30's, when I get in and out of civic i will curse that car. Personally driving the XV2 for 1 year already, really love it.

Fuel consumption for me is 9+ litre per 100km in city drive, about 8+ for highway drive. I managed to reach 7.8 ish range by driving like a stupid slow poke road hogger la, it wasnt fun or realistic for me, it definitely wasnt any fun for cars behind me. But do consider the fact that my car is probably 30-50kg heavier than normal due to sound proofing.

ahh, nice info coming from both cars owner. Civic is really that low eh? I once borrowed friend's passat cc to fetch my parents and they really struggle badly to get on and get off.

The driving feeling on XV indeed is really fun. That's why I had a hard time deciding now laugh.gif

The Civic 2022 is now available for booking.

Looks pretty good in RS guise. Question remains is the price tag. Several media outlets have claimed that the civic is moving up market compared to the previous gen. Hopefully the price doesn't increase by much. Would consider the RS if priced below 140k.

My personal advice, if never driven AWD rides just go for it and take it as a life experience. A lot of people always ask me no scare buy this & that but i always ask them if you never experience it at least one time how you know? Real full time AWD ride is really getting less nowadays and Subaru & Audi (Quattro) is the nearest they can give for the best AWD system in market nowadays. The rest manufacturer mostly are just part time AWD or either FWD or RWD.

It really is.

As for you loving the driving feeling, just buy lo, next XV gonna get eyesight. If not now, then when? If you dont need to worry about aged passengers, then probably new civic will be more fun, but still depend on your driving habit and style la, for me simple:

1. I dont want low car, i'm fatty, hard to get up and down, plus bad experience from my friend's civic, but persona that kinda higher sedan is ok
2. I'm more of a nerdy person, so XV's simple design in and out is actually way more appealing to me, civic and altis have that old chunky looking "TV" that I cannot accept, Mazda 3 is pretty in and out, but once i sat into the driver seat, it felt so cramped and there's so many distraction around the driver side, not to my liking.
3. I dont know much about "ride and handling", but test drive on the XV felt different, for a SUV, it's very stable and fun round the corner, but again i didnt test enough car in my life to know enough about "ride and handling"
4. Not the most popular opinion, I do like CVT, I feel that CVT give me the smooth ride feeling, I dont quite understand the "passion" of AT la, i just want my ride to be smooooooth like butter, and XV's CVT is actually very very comfy feeling, as for the lack of power for acceleration, doesn't matter to me la, how many time do we need to over take people? how many time in a year we need to floor the pedal other than for fun only?
5. Car boot is small, once you open the boot instantly can tell it's small, so if wanna fetch passenger and many luggage, it's not the best option, but it's a compact C segment la, so realistically, how big can it be before you need to pay more for the higher segment? For me it's ok since I dont usually have back passengers, and I've moved house, buy and transport 1.8m shelve components from IKEA, etc with my XV, just fold down the seats and it's big enough for all your usage la.
6. FC is just like that la, SUV + AWD, cannot fight with sedan in anyway.

I think once you sit down and think what you want to do with the car, what you care more, what you dont care, then it's easy to select the car. The worst case scenario, you dont like it, 3-5 years later just change lo...

Hi TS,
I'm very much in the same situation as you, I tested the ketam Civic and even at 39 years old with good bones and posture I can feel the difficulty. I am a big fan of Civic since EG in 90's.

To me I won't make decision until I sit in FE and my back and thighs tell me to fork off hahaha, or the new price too high until its out of range. Even then, I may buy it and suffer the depreciation when selling it in 5 years time....

Among the other cars you have, my personal take is that without ADAS, its not worthwhile. Think of the 1 time you can avoid a big crash, and the 10's of times you can avoid the fender benders. How much is that worth?

Can I suggest Corolla cross? It is firmly in my thoughts right now.

yea currently i'm holding until i get to try on civic FE also. ADAS i think is quite common in newer cars already ,kinda hard to avoid it i guess?

I'm not too fond to cross actually just because of the look, I have a friend who owns 1, and he did gave me good feedback on cross as well. And I was told by my Toyota SA cross queue is quite long also currently.

Yeah, but the XV and CX-5 does not have ADAS and by the time they launch with it, you also won't know how far the price gone up and how long the wait times too...

Indeed Cross looks so early 2000's as well as having a lethargic 1.8 engine, but in my own opinion, can last me easily grow old with me for the next 10 years (the non hybrid).

bro, u sure can get year end promo for *NEW* XV even if you bought it NOW (year end)? By all probability the car will register next year anyway unless ready stock?

I personally hesitate with the mediocre boot space. Its really kind small for my family needs. Not sure how much you will need eventually.

Yes. Price for sure is going up due to raw material cost up quite high over the year. It should be still able to justify due to the added eyesight safety features, if you can wait, wait until next year end usually Subaru will give discount.

Many people will say that ADAS waste money, "i've driven car for X years, no ADAS also no problem, bla bla bla" but they failed to realized that you only really need ADAS you save you and your family that 1 time, just that 1 time probably somebody dont need to die in the accident, and that itself is priceless.

Im so envy of the new 2022 XV, finally got eyesight, and eyesight have a very good reputation for it's ADAS. And do note that not all ADAS is born equal, some brand's ADAS is better than others.

Just for the knowledge of others, I do understand that the Evesight of Subaru requires owner not to fix and windscreen tinting.

Especially the black strip on top that most of us do due to strong sunlight.

its exactly the same as buying expensive life insurance. In case of ADAS, pay 1 time, protect forever - I think its a great package.

Of course not all ADAS is the same, do you know which one does not work so well? I know that earlier generation Peroduas with vision camera system always highlight that it is not perfect especially when visibility is low. Radar + latest camera should be better no?

Even latest tesla's are moving away from radar and going for camera. And we still don't really have Lidar system yet.

I believe most/all ADAS system especially with camera also cannot tint the upper part window due to blockage of the vision.
You can only compensate with more better quality tint at inner side.

BTW, black strip or dark tint does not mean the UV sunlight or heat cannot go in.
Some professional tint shop with UV lighting equipment can prove to you that some good quality clear tint did better in term of UV & heat rejection.

How about USED Tiguan? Less than 10k mileage and built year 2019 ones also seem to fall within TS' budget already.

HRV 2022 I can predict a very long order queue and big jump in price.

At the moment its a relatively small family of 3. So i don't need extremely big boot space

xv 2022 i doubt they will give discount due to its new, they are still doing clearance for xv 2021 with 10k off from rrp

i'm not fond to vw due to their past reputation, if not i would have considered a pre-owned passat too.
