Yes worried the same too, I think for extra 900 for extended warranty should be sufficient. plus like you said everything is soldered to the board.
Can tell us more what happened? did you managed to get it fixed/replacement? did they charged you anything?

One day it just happened I cannot turn on my MBP. Sent to Machines KLCC, they said my motherboard just died without knowing the actual reason. It was happened around 15th months after my purchase. They didnt charge me anything and provide me free replacement due to extended warranty. Of course they send to Apple SG first for further checking on the damage before approve the replacement. Hence, thats why I really recommend it so you can have 3 years peace of mind. Not necessary to buy straight away. We can buy within 12 months from original purchase date.

That’s a scary experience indeed, but not a common thing for sudden death..900+ for peace of mind seems reasonable, that’s like 300 a year of peace..

You could have insisted on the reason of machine sudden death, since they took it in to diagnose they owe you an explanation rather than not providing info and just replace it..

Actually the mobo frying happened to me 2 times before on the MBA (Intel based). Once at month 3 and another time at month 15 .... both replaced with no charges but ever since then, I would always get the AppleCare with all my devices

Did they gave you any info about what happened to the mobo sudden death? So if you didn’t get an extended warranty, the mba become unusable and scrapped?

Nice bro, I'm eyeing at the 14" for portability and this year's 14/16 has smaller gaps compared to previous models..

Wow warranty expired also got it replaced thumbup.gif sounds like this is a serious but uncommon issue then.. otherwise they won't replace it for sure, especially wheb it's out of warranty period..

I think the 16 inch is still portable enough, had the Intel i9 one previously and I carried it everyday to work.

This time just gonna use it stationary on my desk without a monitor so 16 inch makes more sense than a 14.

Nice, won’t go wrong with 16 or 32GB honestly.

I don’t think I will be able to fully maximize the use case of a Macbook Pro but I’m just going for that Mini LED screen and new chassis.

Oh if it's stationery then definitely go for the bigger.. I'm stuck with the 14 coz Im quite mobile with the MBP and need every portability possible.. actually the 13 m1 is the ideal for its weight and battery but I wouldn't pass on a new model and redesign + a bunch of other stuffs in exchange for the portability biggrin.gif

Seems like it’s been 4 weeks since the announcement, still no sound from Apple Malaysia and the retailers.

Daunting wait begins
