Actually the mobo frying happened to me 2 times before on the MBA (Intel based). Once at month 3 and another time at month 15 .... both replaced with no charges but ever since then, I would always get the AppleCare with all my devices

QUOTE(dikae @ Nov 15 2021, 03:04 PM) Did they gave you any info about what happened to the mobo sudden death? So if you didn’t get an extended warranty, the mba become unusable and scrapped? They didn't said what was wrong .... if no extended warranty then you have to repair .... not sure what's the cost of the motherboard replacement .... didn't dare to ask |

QUOTE(hellfried @ Nov 26 2021, 08:26 AM) After much internal conflict I finally got the 14" MBP yesterday. Just want to share my weird experience with the laptop. Right out of the box the thing was really underwhelming. Performance was lacklustre to say the least. The auto brightness screen function failed to work. I put it down to the fact that the MBP was scanning files for spotlight and downloading stuff from my iCloud account. Never had such experience before with any of the Apple products .... which MBP14 model did you get ?Saw that there was an OS update so I went for it (from 12.0 to 12.0.1). The laptop seemingly came alive after the update and now I think I am at optimal performance. Now this is not my first rodeo and I have owned a lot of Apple computers prior to this. But I have never had such an experience out of the box. In comparison when I first took the M1 MBA out last year, everything was just buttery smooth from the get go. Did anyone have the same thing happen to them? |
