just tell him upfront and ask for 3-6 mths bank statement for verification purpose on his previous pay...then call bank to verify the credit is legit

Let me tell u a cool story... In HR industry(few years ago)

Company A (newbie) interview a candidate 1.almost same case as TS ,so the HR try to run background check with candidates 1.cut short story, the company A HR did contact the banks to verify the so called bank statement. But get no reply (due to data protection acts) ,but instead the banks notify the authority of suspicious of ....."private confidential data" (you can guess LA). Company A did get in hot water momentarily but settled when the candidates 1 came out to clear the air. Candidate 1 did get the job (wild guess).

So those private and confidential information(eyes view only) better handle with care unless you want attract unwanted attention and put your company at potential risk of lawsuit.

Personal note : I feel there is a trap and bait being set.

Recently few weeks back my company just interviewed someone who faked his payslip by making a shell company, forged a huge amount of deal, and saying that he is one of the keyperson that made the deal a success.

Apparently we found out through other means that the person, when joining a previous company, will provide a huge amount of claim bill saying that he had to entertain customer to get multimillion dollar project (e.g like monthly claim at least 10k/month) but apparently it was not. However, the previous company had no black and white proof that they got scammed since the bill and place is legit.
