you are definitely free to spend your RM150k however you see fit, go ahead and make your best informed decision.
Usually spend more is less prone to regret than spend less. (if you can already afford it).

more like spend more but have to make sure its well spent. have to pray not ending up getting a lemon biggrin.gif

if space is no concern, I think Mazda 3 2.0 H+ will be fine. Either way even the RS is going to be very hard to regret.

I just see that Mazda 3 has a round LCD display in the middle only...what so bad with a 7in rectangular display on the RS compared to it?

I will not touch a VW with 40foot pole. You retrofit some crap into a VW, say goodbye to already fragile and weak warranty. I'm pretty certain your entire warranty will void if you fit in anything that can adjust throttle and steering outside of factory.

because when it comes to buying cars, I find it very hard to accept lower spec parts if something better is supposedly available, that's just me. I'm someone who is willing to pay for more, just give me the damm option. And this is also just my opinion, the meter and LCD in the Mazda 3 was well designed and integrated. The lower spec display in the Civic is not biggrin.gif instantly looks like a lower spec option already compared to the full digital one

I was not gonna consider VW at all until they mention the new golf will come with 8 speed AT from Aisin instead of a DSG. But still if I were to get it I prolly will opt for pre reg or year end discounts. Also reliability issues and so on, I'm going to gather opinions from owner group first rather than hearsay on internet

Anyway a car is more than a A to B tool for me, so in the end I have to test them all to see which one I like spending time in the most. To put it simply.... I'm buying with my heart rather than brain biggrin.gif

Well, the Mazda could have come with a 2.5L engine too if compared to what others get for the same money as a RS in other countries...........or a 2.5 Turbo but you can't pay for either even if you have money.

Doing business with Vincent Tan in Malaysia is WAYYYYYY worse than with Honda or UMW Toyota. Look at how he crippled CX-5 in safety.

Thanks for pointing out the latest OM. It then makes the steering wheel remote switching of audio modes the most difficult one for model with this Type A meter (need to first scroll through the long list of items under Home menu in order to reach the Audio menu) (even model with 7" display will be easier to scroll through the audio modes directly using the Source button) (easiest would be Type B meter model by just scrolling the left side selector wheel as the left side display is standby to show the audio info). If that is the case, may be easier to just reach out to the 9" touch screen to switch the audio mode for the Type A meter model.

Err just to understand this grouse

Changing input source on the steering right?

Civic 10th gen also no source button on the steering

Just simply scroll up and down will change input source

I believe the scroll wheel (on of them probably) will do the same

Engine is a different story, can be few ten thousands of difference there

But that 10" cluster..... how much difference its gonna make? Also the fact that we are the only region in SEA to not get that in the RS spec just made me more sour

Ok I should stop here before I'm starting to sound too petty for a 10" screen biggrin.gif

in the end, you get exactly what you paid for, so make the right choice that gives you joy. No perfect thing in this world, especially not in Malaysia.

If factory can provide upgrade path, I honestly may go for the 10in cluster. I really like the fact that you can get turn by turn guidance and the car detected ahead navigation.

I'm also being petty for the lack of 10" meter cluster. Like come on man, other SEA-s can do it, why can't we? Why TH (HQ) can do it but we can't when we have a plant here? Damn potong when I saw there's only 7". Unless HM is up to their usual tricks sleeve again. Remember City? 1 year after intro, HM be like "Here's V-Sensing with HSensing and the 7" meter cluster for an extra 4k!". So why do I feel that HM is gonna do the same for City Hatch and Civic RS in a year's time? I got a strong feeling they are gonna go with this pathway.

This is exactly my concern as well

Not really in a rush for a new ride so I guess I'll just wait. The longer you wait the more choices you get as well when it comes to cars

Only thing is missing out the SST free period currenrly

guys guys, sorry for interrupt ya
actually does the 10.2 digital really that bother the vision or interior?
i saw alot lot lot ppl complaining for it, is that due to the price should have the digital meter or?

For me it does not bother too much or actually i love that half digital due to i saw the other 10.2 digital meter are look like slight low resolution and... how to say.. fragile? tsk not good in describe...
at least the half digital still looks good like normal as we used on current vehicles...

by the way i can understand most ppl would desire to get more since money paid lah,
wireless charges... not really useful i guess..
honda keyless card... how often bringing a thick card as key and i worry ease to lost it LOL
10.2 digital.... well, own preference i guess, maybe i am still live in old gen...hahaha

Bother the interior because we expect to have the best of all specs but we only get a subpar specs for the amount we are paying for the highest variant.

Fragile? U mean u r scared that it fails and you can see literally nothing while analog is at least still working if one analog/screen is down?

Wireless Chargers
- good to have. Shows that HM is generous/futuristic

Keyless card
- I’ve no comment on this.

10.2” digital screen
- I pay RS price, give me all of the specs (exceptional for Bose as we know Bose is NA exclusive)
- Every single SEA country highest spec has the 10.2” meter cluster and yet, HM being so selfish/cheapskate to not put it. For whatever reason, let’s see if the media gonna explain why it is so to us tomorrow (13/1/22 launching day).

I'm kinda disappointed that HM left out so much stuff in the RS model... shakehead.gif cry.gif
Especially the wireless charging thingy and full digital cluster
sienz... now I also kinda worried on the above mentioned.
that all those will be added on the FL version or maybe few mths down the road.

May I know the period of a new FL version approx be?
1 year?

Actually those who are "disappointed" are those who have the money to pay for everything - RS stands for full buffet for them, so in a sense Honda Malaysia has underestimated their ability to pay. Especially with respect to comparing to Mazda 3 or some "premium" Japanese brands. Imagine you go to a buffet, and then they you no more snow crabs or something. Some thinks ok, lets enjoy the rest of the food, some say screw you I'm not coming in / going elsewhere.

But, in the end, Honda XYZ exists for profit, and they think probably they will sell more / profit more with 7in cluster rather than 10.2'.

And similarly for the buffet analogy, the customer goes elsewhere, do they get what they want for the price they will have to pay? Do you achieve win-win? So time will tell.

Especially as we don't even know (right now, 9am, 13 Jan2022) what's the final price gonna look like.

The half digital meter looks fine for me I’m actually okay with that. The 10.2 digital screen it may look not as premium as you think. The bezel is too thick imo. Altho it may be more advanced and can store more info on it.

Btw I thought honda will release the price and specs today?

S- RM125,600
V- RM138,000
RS- RM144,350

Looks like Rm10k less than Mazda 3 and V is a much greater choice than Altis 1.8G...not bad what....
