The long awaited FC vs FE drag race. Finally someone did it

So on paper, Honda’s official figures say FC is faster on century sprint, but in real world test, FE is slightly faster - which tallies with my personal experience

hmm maybe i'll just leave it as is. i'm ok for another oil change at that interval.
3.2 liters for a fairly powerful turbo engine, there's still going to be old oil in the various components of the car (turbo charger itself for example)

also, just an oil change at 360km, the car already feels smoother and quieter. probably placebo but hey, not seeing metal particles in a much cleaner oil makes me feel more at ease lol.
*
Since you have experience is sending UOA, what’s your thought on engine flushing? Since SA normally would push this additional optional items, saying that it’s recommended, but Honda does not make it mandatory.

I sometimes add it on, but it feels like snake oil a bit to me, since normal engine oil normally have additives too.

reject at all cost lol.
you want to flush, better just do an oil change like me

0w20 is pretty thin already, the car is direct injection, there's already fuel dilution... you still introduce engine flush? (that basically thins oils and breaks down deposits)
if they follow up an oil change 1-2 more times AFTER flush to flush out the flush materials itself (which may not even guarantee your car is totally flushed considering turbo components), you're going to have that continuously circulating in your engine components and potentially causing more wear than it should be.

and we know they don't do it, customers also not willing to pay for 1-2 more oil change on top of added flush... so... yeah. they just want a quick buck, your engine is your own responsibility, not Honda's. ESPECIALLY after warranty over.

Just to be clear, i don't think it is snake oil. it does have its purpose.
but without proper application, you'll be causing more harm than good, that's worse than snake oil that supposedly does nothing! you spend money to potentially increase more wear and tear to your engine!

and just in case, engine flush is not additives. it may contain additives for detergency and engine cleansing, but that's it. its purpose is to thin out oil and break down carbon deposits, hence a flush. carbon deposits /gunk/varnish etc may stick on engine parts, flush is to remove that.
what you're saying is correct, engine oil has additives for detergency as well, to prevent carbon build up etc
it cannot completely avoid as heat will accelerate carbon deposits forming. (turbo chargers a good recipe to do that lol, remember i said power is never free? this is one of the cost)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Last one: Honda Engine Treatment Oil + Fuel Cleaner - if i’m not mistaken, it’s a rebranded Liquimoly. This combo confirm Service Agent will sell everytime you go for service.

I’m guessing no to Engine Treatment Oil - same as your comment for Engine Flushing, just change Engine Oil as recommended or more frequently. But Fuel Cleaner should be ok right?

Like
1) very practical family car [agree]
2) the interior is a very nice place to be in, good healthy balance between digital gadgetry and displays, as well as analog tactile controls and switches. Majority of car functions are now user customizable instead of locked reserved to dealer/SC only access. [agree]
3) very easy and convenient power on demand [agree]

Dislike
1) very nitpicky
A) the center console thigh contact is hard plastic. I'm someone who anchors my left leg to the foot rest and center console for firm and sure footedness as I gain more confidence in some of my more spirited drivings. That's also cuz of the lack of bolsters from the seats as I'm used to semi bucket seats or even full bucket seats during my more Motorsports active days. [agree]
B) the rear camera resolution. My 2017 aftermarket rear camera had much better resolution and image quality. Honda camera leaves a LOT to be desired. Try reversing at night, any vehicle with headlamps will turn into a ball of light lol. [agree]

2) Honda Malaysia.
From their choice of specs [totally agree!!!] and pricing to the market competitiveness and their monopolization, and SC horror stories from servicing delays [disagree] to warranty claims [agree].
They oversell their car, their SC can't keep up, shit is bound to happen (Proton are on the same path with X50/X70 Dominance, it used to be HRV Monopoly) - I never had a problem with servicing delays, but warranty / repair times can be quite long. However, I guess servicing delays are a thing of the past now, since quite a number of dealers have opened up 3S/4S centres everywhere.

3) downsized turbo quirks and cons, along with CVT transmissions, and car being FF heavy/heavy front in general.
This is mainly my nitpick from a more sportier preference. Can consider me as old school, preferring to drive a lightweight rear wheel driven naturally aspirated manual transmission car.
In reality, this drive train is the way forward, and the pros far outweigh the cons. [neutral] - can understand, but FF is much easier to maintain, drive and lower cost compared to FR cars. Our current CVT will be replaced with eCVT (or i-MMD for Honda) in the near future though.

Can anyone try to check taobao for the Civic 2022 Wireless Qi Charger? Apparently someone claims to have bought the Civic Wireless Qi HK version in Taobao and fitted it in our local Civic - and says it was pretty much plug and play.

I don't read or write chinese, so couldn't do it personally sweat.gif

i say the rm99 wireless charger from shopee is good enough, easily removable too.
*
Thanks for the info - am considering this option. Currently using the Anker Maggo 613, but thinking of using the original Honda qi charger or Shopee qi charger for a more streamlined look. I read that the Shopee qi charger is actually for the LHD version, so the wire is a bit too short.

Quazacolt thanks for the tip of using Meguiars Ultimate Quik Detailer - really easy to wipe off even baked/hardened bird droppings with wet wipes now. I also bought Meguiars Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaner to remove bird droppings on the glass. The Meguiars products smell good too.

Do you guys think the road noise on FE is particularly loud?

Any idea where and how much to improve the road noise at the wheel arch?

Just test drive it today...
*
Coming from the FD2 and the FC, the FE has significant reduced road & wind noise - using the RS, so not sure if E or V spec has different sound coz different tyres.

Yes, you can hear road noise on some roads, but the roads my daily drive are quite good, so didn’t hear any road noise - same when driving on the highway, some stretches are quiet, but some can be quite loud. IINM, the back wheel arch has sound insulation, but the front arch doesn’t. Not sure why Honda did it that way.

What does it means the std sae and kgm?
*
Taken from an old evolutionm forum postpost:

QUOTE
SAE is a prediction of what your HP/torque will be at a certain, accepted weather conditon. STD is what your car is actually putting out right at that exact moment.

STD numbers will be higher if the conditions are better than SAE (ie colder, less humid, high pressure), and conversely lower when the conditions are worse than SAE

kgm can be a measurement of torque - but usually we use Nm. Can be easily converted

Hi wish to check the tint from HM is good enough? Agent recommended ecotint, which seems to be good enough.
*
Used Ecotint as part of the Civic FD2 Concept M package back in 2011. If it's the same tint & specs, I can safely say that it's adequate, but not great. I suggest that if you're paying RM2k++ for it, there are better options out there. Don't let the "void warranty" discussion sway you to install Ecotint. If your SA want to install for free, go ahead! biggrin.gif

So what tint do you recommend?
*
I recommend going for 3m, llumar or huper optik. Vcool also ok, but metal based, last time will have issues with Smartag. Now with RFID, not sure... Heard mixed things about Raytech - a ry8128 has a nightmare of an issue with them, but some sing praises of it. Can't go wrong with llumar / huper optik / 3m la. Can get 2-2.5k if just solar tint. Spend more, it'll be higher TSER / thicker security.

Is it normal to have some wind sound around 100km/h?
Mine is V spec, the wind sound from A Pillar quite noticeable. Wondering if 1k service can ask SC to do something on it or install visor will helps.
*
Usually the wind noise from A pillar is caused by the side mirror - did you do any modification on it or install any bodykit? Door visor won’t help, and it just might cause more wind noise.

In any case, there is wind noise at around 100km, but it’s barely audible (when radio off). When I turn on the radio, I won’t even hear it.

Hi Civic owners. In early March I put in a booking for a red E. Still waiting. I would like to ask how the Honda Service works. If say you buy from Dealer X in say Seremban, can you send for service or warranty claim at say Dealer Y in PJ?

Also Honda Malaysia does not directly sell cars to end buyers right? You have to buy from an appointed dealer correct, is there a master dealer or are all dealers created equal? Is there any preferred dealer? I notice some dealers like Honda Glenmarie have big showrooms and service centres whereas others like the one I booked my car with - Honda Section 13 PJ have a much smaller showroom and service centre.
*
Can buy from any dealer and can send to any service centre - as long as authorised service centre during warranty period.

Some dealers (especially big ones) may get more allocation due to previously selling more cars.

I worry every time I see someone use a liquid based air freshener - if it stays on, it's fine, but if there ever comes a time when it spills out, it can damage the dashboard trim / plastic trim on the car. I highly recommend getting the spill proof air freshener (can/gel based), or just enjoy the new car smell for the first few months biggrin.gif

-edit-
also, obligatory thing whenever I see something hanging on the signal/wiper stalk:

Customer stated, her turn signal is broke laugh.gif

QUOTE(tifosi @ Apr 6 2022, 06:00 PM)
Haven't get my car but I am quite surprised to read the fuel consumption here. For Civic FC, I am able to get ~13-14 km/l for city driving and 18-19 km/l for highway run.

Yes, it's tuned differently and has more power, and maybe slightly heavier but the different is quite alot. Hopefully I can achieve 11-12 km/l for my driving style.
*
In my experience of driving roughly 68k on the FC and 2.7k on the FE, if you drive the same way, you lose around 1km/l on city and roughly 2km/l on highway
