Trapo - my honest review. I bought Trapo for the first time for Civic FE - previously used a branded custom professionally cut & measured coil mat (Yuuma). Not sure Dodo is the same as Trapo, but judging from the pictures and review, they are both quite similar.

Trapo Pros:
1. Damn easy to clean
2. Never slides around (Trapo Hex)
3. Very light!
4. Customer support is above average with fast reply

Trapo Cons:
1. Damn easy to see dirt
2. Damn slippery when wet - rainy season now, very apparent
3. Quite costly for a mat - but not as expensive as 3D mat laa...

One thing though, if you are an early bird in buying the Trapo mat, their current design is different especially for the driver side mat. Initially the mat it didn't cover the accelerator pedal, but now it does. I had to contact customer support to replace it as it was a single major issue for me.

Conclusion: Will I buy them again? Maybe... But even if I do buy them, I will avoid buying them early in their production cycle for new cars to avoid the problem I had above.

My original mat + the one they replaced for me - I communicated with their Customer Service - at first they said no changes in design, but when I posted pictures of others using the same Trapo mat, they apologised and exchanged my mat to the new version - CS may not know technical details.

Just received a call from Honda Malaysia regarding my complaint on the Honda Connect “My Service” cannot calculate issue. They said that they have found the root cause & bug causing it from the app and there should be an App update to fix the issue by 9 May.

177PS, 255NM, 7 Speed DCT, 1325KG, 0-100KM in 7.9s (claimed)

VS

182PS, 240NM, CVT, 1349KG, 0-100KM in 8.4s (claimed)

On paper X50 fast! Civic slow! CVT sucks! In real world though…

On paper, Mazda3 will lose during acceleration to civic (read:Nm) but iinm Civic lose to Mazda3 when trying to maintain or gain higher speeds (read: HP).

Not exactly the same with Malaysian Civic FE & Mazda 3 models (especially the Mazda 3 as it’s the GT 2.5L engine)

Standing start, Civic wins, rolling start, Mazda 3 GT wins.

From this, can infer that the local Mazda 3 will eat Civic FE’s smoke.

Corolla, not even in the same class laugh.gif

How come your manufacturing date was 2021 when my VOC stated “Tahun Dibuat 2022” - engine code is 14X & chassis code is 12X.

QUOTE(alfee29 @ Apr 22 2022, 04:08 PM)
Boss, how to check the manufactured date and the 480th number? Collecting car tomorrow... excited.
*
Look at the chassis & engine number. The final 4 digits I guess now.

Collected my car from Sec 13 today, which is also the most convenient service centre for me too. The service centre was packed today (Saturday), so gotta be prepared to wait long long if send in on Saturday.

Installed FE180 kit, RS spoiler, door visors and side plates this evening. Pretty happy with the car now.
*
Best way is to:
1. Book appointment at least 1 month in advance - never had to come due to mileage though, always been due to 6 months, so you may need to estimate if it's due to mileage.
2. Book the earliest slot available at the SC - In my case at Yong Ming Honda JB was 7:30am
3. Come on time

Usually my car would be the first to enter the service bay when they start servicing cars around 7:45am-8am. If normal servicing, I would be out by 9:00am-9:30am at the latest

Kl/Selangor sc wont able to finish by 9-930 am for normal service even via appointment for a weekend. Fastest I had was at 12pm for 2nd run slot, weekend at Sg Long Kajang, one time at Setia Alam SC, others at New Era Kajang and Global Amity Bangi.

Usually just drop the car and pickup it on evening
*
Foooh, crazy. Must be because got lots of leftover cars from day before not finished servicing due to the sheer number of cars in KV. Never had problems with my slot in the early morning in JB, but can see not many people choose the early morning slot. In fact, can usually see people book early slot, but didn't come on time, and people gamble to walk in got bumped ahead of queue. Then the people with appointment come and complain coz already made appointment but didn't get served according to their booked time laugh.gif

If anybody is thinking of installing engine cover, do get an original Type-R cover, and don’t buy just any cheapo type. If it melts or catches on fire, it’s your engine…

Or better yet, don’t install it laugh.gif

Besides the style points, are there any other benefits for installing an engine cover? Same question for the covers that go along the sides of the engine bay.
*
1. For service technician to admire
2. For service centre to charge a bit more for labour to remove & put back the engine cover when servicing (e.g. spark plug check / replacement)
3. Reduce noise - Cover helps with sound dampening
4. Reduce chance for oil spattering on hood / dirt get on engine

materials issue or does the engine heat make it that way? Believe materials prob as there are cars with engine cover all in like Lexus engine
*
The guy admit buy cheapo engine cover from Shopee. Not proper original Honda Type R cover. So both material & engine heat causing the "N" of the Honda wording to start melting edy. Luckily the cheapo cover did not catch fire, later complaint & post on FB Honda FE engine QC terrible coz caught fire

same behavior as the FC owner last time who remapped his and had engine kong but still wanna claim warranty. Rejected. And there are cases engine kong as well when on RaceChip (Suprima S), doubt RaceChip give any warranty assistance, ie subsidy for his engine repair for instance.

Off topic a bit, noticed the battery is seated in a box like compartment with some foam padding per picture below. Will this compartment helps to mitigate heat and extend battery life?

been trying to search around the web regarding this Honda Connect

does this service require a working data plan, which requires a Sim card to be inserted, or else how it gonna maintain its connectivity to the cloud to update its location and status from time to time?

due to the above, does this service charge a subscription fee? after all to maintain the infra costings isn't cheap to accomodate the growing user base
*
When you buy V / RS, the service is included into the car purchase price for a 3 year period. The renewal subscription price has not been revealed.

Lead Car Departure Notification

is this only available for RS only? cant find this

on brochure it is available for all variant but wapcar is showing otherwise
*
RS extras correct except LCDN which is available for all, but missing:

1. Auto Wiper
2. Black interior headliner (cream colour for E & V)
3. Dual chrome tailpipes

If you get Honda’s official Illuminated side steps, the default lighting would be Red for the RS and Blue for E and V

QUOTE(tifosi @ May 9 2022, 11:11 AM)
Interesting on how they reset the engine oil life counter after 1k service. Don't seems to have proper SOP for diff service center.
Some gets 4500, some gets 8900 when both cars did the exact same service scenario.
*
After reset, it'll follow the previous oil life estimate. It won't automatically go back to 10,000km. But if you travel without idling too long, encountering heavy traffic etc over a long period/distance, you'll find that your oil life would recover to 10,000km or close to it.

Service Centre just reset the oil life counter, and it's the car ECU that determines the approximate oil life. If the SC remembers to reset la. In my previous FC ownership experience. the SC forgot to reset the maintenance minder once. No harm done, I just reset it myself laugh.gif

Also, the SC don't reset the oil life counter at 1k service due to no oil change. Unless you request la, then they change

RS for HRV confirmed will be hybrid. I got the feeling that Civic’s top end RS will be Hybrid soon too, following what Thailand is doing.
