Definitely not on the 2016 FC. Not sure of the facelift models. My experience above is based on the launch 2016 FC

I look at this butt wide open and I think hnggghh 8 step ladders and ikea runs.
I do a lot of home improvement / repair works across for side moolah, and my car park is actually shorter than normal so it makes triple sense haha...
*
extremely highly unlikely now since even Thailand discontinued the hatchback due to low sales vs sedan 1:15 ratio in 2019

is it easy to DIY install dashcam for FE especially on hiding the cable for front and back camera? or just pay around RM100 for the pro to do it?
*
Need to be brave to pull out the tabs for the car headliner, and spend some time to do it yourself - maybe around 30-45min if you're fast.

I did my own installation for my previous FC. It was relatively easy, and acceptable (in my opinion), but it was not as nice as what the professional did, with proper electrical felt tape and hide almost all wires properly & neatly.

Did you manage to fully remove / detach the front A pillar? Mine still dangling with a piece of strap which I didnt seem to be able to unhook.
*
No, i think it's not supposed to be fully detached - in case if got accident and airbag deploy, the A-pillar should dangle, and not blow off totally - might hit driver/passenger.

Also - got more details on the lucky draw:

For those with wireless CarPlay, what is the normal behaviour, when your are connected, then car is still running then you exit, take the phone with you can re enter the car?

Does it automatically reconnect?
*
Normally when I exit the car, I turn off the car laugh.gif

But there was one time when my wife was in the car, and the phone was in my pocket all the while carplay was enabled, waze and apple music was running. I exited the car and entered my office lobby for a while, roughly 20-30 meters away.

My wife was witnessing as things happened in the car. She said the audio was choppy, and connecting, disconnecting for a while, and finally, carplay exited.

When I moved closer to the car, carplay connected again, waze and apple music continued to work as normal without me doing anything on the HU. When I entered the car, things was the same as I left it.

It was only 1-2 minutes of me leaving the car though, so I’m not sure if things would happen differently if you left the car for a longer period of time.

Managed to change the settings in the car. But still was not able to connect Android auto wirelessly. Maybe I'm missing something
*
You need to pair again. Delete pairing on both the car and your phone. Enable wifi & bluetooth. Follow the guide below

Managed to run over a large screw on the road last night around 10pm. No tyre shop open at the time. Luckily no air was leaking and managed to drive to a tyre shop over lunch to plug the hole

Tried it but still didn't work. My phone shows up as an Android Auto option on the Honda display, but when selecting it, it doesn't work.
I have a Google Pixel 5 with Android 12. Oh well. If it doesn't work then too bad.

Searching on google, seems like pixel 5 has problems with wireless AA.

hi all,

Any good coil mats to recommend? I still prefer coil type as I am not into 3D mat, Trapos etc

*
Previously used Yuma custom coil mats. It lasted until i sold my cars (5 years and 5.5 years). Price was similar to Trapo though lol

Wonder if the ecotint is also rfid friendly

I had ecotint preinstalled on my previous Civic FD Concept M. It was 100% smart tag friendly.

If 6mil  tint can potentially cause issues with opening /closing the windows, isn't it better to stick to 4 mil instead.

Is there lot of incremental benefits of 6 mil vs 4 mil
*
I have been using Llumar Diamond 6 (6 mil) for more than 10 years on 3 different Honda cars. Never had any power window problems.

hi, may i know where is the right/best location to hold dashcam?
It should be besides or below the honda sensing sensor camera(the one behind the rear view mirror)?
I plan to install the Viofo A129 Plus.
thanks.
*
Dunno if best place, but I put my A129 Pro Duo front camera on the left & slightly below the Honda Sensing camera. Can't be directly side by side, or even the same level, coz will see the black area beside the Honda Sensing camera.

Anker 613 - bought from Shopee. https://shopee.com.my/product/148120148/159...46-1646821875.9 Apparently if buy from Taobao can get much much cheaper https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=103808574

It’s specifically for Apple Magsafe phones (iphone 12 & 13 only) and it holds up well until now. Never had the phone drop even on bumpy roads.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Mar 11 2022, 12:56 AM)
anyone serviced their FE yet?

Want to confirm if the engine oil is no longer based on 10k km/6 months (whichever first) intervals starting with FC turbo charged?

and is only based on the oil degradation sensor or 6 months/12 months oil filter whichever first?

https://www.honda.com.my/doc/maintenance/2177
IINM during the initial months of Civic TCP, some owners who whacked their car prompted the oil degradation servicing at say maybe 8k km and thus changed their oil, however they needed to change oil again as they hit 10k km and the current oil only ran for 2k km resulting in serious wastage.
did that happen and did Honda Malaysia addressed it?
*
Oil & fuel filter change is following the maintenance minder OR 6 months. The other parts servicing is following the 6months/10k interval.

If you already changed at 8k due to maintenance minder, no such thing as having to change again at 10k - i never heard of this before… if this happened, the sc tried to cheat you.

Maintenance minder is closely related to how is your driving pattern & condition. If you always get bad traffic jams, long warm up or cooldown the engine, idling while waiting for a long period of time, be prepared to change the oil at 4-6k km. Basically, engine is on but not moving anywhere will kill the oil life.

Since my FC days, my oil life is always between 9500-10k km. never below that. This continues to my current FE. Also, it helps that I live in JB and my normal daily commute has zero traffic.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Mar 11 2022, 08:44 AM)
thanks for the confirmation bro!

i am assuming the "sensor" would be based on engine run time + km's clocked in relation, technically not a sensor? lol

but yes, if you're just idling a lot, the turbo charger doesn't get good oil flow and thus the worry of oil just burning up/oxidation within the turbo and then degrading overall oil quality further.
the saving grace, the turbo is tiny, and peak torque/max spooling is from 1.7k RPM (i was thinking 2k but alas they improved/corrected upon re checking and confirmation of specs lol) so oil flow does get going very early.

and that probably translate to your oil reminder being no different than the regular intervals of 10k km or 6 months.
*
I suspect the oil sensor is just that - engine running time + distance travelled

Also, the oil life can also “heal” itself, e.g. i encounter quite a bit of traffic jam and idle a bit. Thus i only travelled 2,000km but oil life is now 7,500km (supposed to be 8,000km). But i travel up and down the ns highway jb-kl and now the distance traveled is 3,000km & oil life is back to 7,000km

So i suspect that the oil life counter is looking at the overall time & distance since oil life was reset
