Mine too when the engine is not warmed up. It'll be about 1000rpm when the engine is not totally cooled down. How long does it take you guys to start you car? For mine, it takes about 2-3 seconds when turning the key. Is it normal? By the way, mine is Toyota Vios 1st generation. Thanks. smile.gif

Around 1500rpm on cold starts, some times even very close to 2000rpm with aircon on. I just couldn't care... just drive away. Normal idling is around 650~750rpm.

I am getting the same rpm like you, question is, with high rpm for cold start is not good for the engine becos the engine still not set up yet, moreover consume more petrol. Anyway did you ask the service exec. to check when you go for first service, my yet to go for the first service, maybe i will ask the service exec to lower down the cold start rpm, hopefully it can be done.

Don't worry it will damage the engine. On cold start, the 1NZ engine will run slightly higher idle rpm and also in the same time richer, to faster heat up the engine and also reduce the wear.

Anyway I'll try to monitor the idle rpm more closely now. wink.gif

Tell you what happen when engine left overnight , the engine oil will sink to the bottom, so when the next morning high rpm start what will happen, well the engine oil will slowly rise not immediatelly, before the engine oil can be spread over the engine normally lower rpm is better, becos engine will last longer, coming back to your statement what do you mean, dont worry it will damage the engine

Guys,

I just realised that, after I lock all my doors, the driver's door still can open. I just pull the lever and the doors will be automatically unlocked. Is this a feature or fault?

Also, the tweeter cover and the pillar on the driver's side popped out. Anyone facing this problem?

I mean you don't have to worry that it will damage the engine.

The oil is only one of the thing the engine needs, its ambient temperature is also important. That's why on cold start the rpm will automatically be higher (1500rpm vs 750rpm) but not too overly high until it will bring more dmg, and the thermostat will block the water circulating the engine just to have it warm fast before reaching around 70'C~90'C. Plus VVT-i won't be functioning when cold.

Just check, cold start this evening around 1400~1500rpm. Turns on aircon become 1100rpm.

I only encounter such alarm behavior when door not closed properly.

Well, it might be possible the tint installer missed something? Or one of the alarm sensor shorted because of tint installation water.

Anyway get check quickly in SC, AFAIK the door won't lock and alarm not activate.
