here are the instruction for jailbreaking yr Ipod:

go to this link: http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1954
and dl the installer for jailbreaker.

then follow the instructions here:

1) first, go 2 http://jailbreak.toc2rta.com to crash yr safari browser.

2) run jailbreak.bat from the installer, when it starts , just press enter to start.

3) after a min or so, it'll prompt u 2 restart yr touch. Do it and press enter key to
continue.

4) let jailbreak do its stuff.then restart yr ipod twice(turn off
,turn on,turn off,turn on.)

5) press enter again and enter your IPOD ip add when asked (wait for the wifi to come on after turning on yr touch b4 entering yr ip add).

6) when the whole installation finishes, the command prompt will shut down by itself.restart yr touch and you should see a "install" app on yr screen. Click it and install the program u want. u can go to the install app and then go to source, tab on refresh and install the community source..after that go to "install" and u should see alot of programs to install..!

Plug ipod into computer with itunes running....
Press and hold sleep/power button AND home button
Keep them both held while the ipod shutdowns and beings to restart
When apple logo appears release sleep button but keep home held...

Itunes will then say its found an ipod in recovery mode and offers a restore option

press the sleep and home button together till yr touch switch off....and still keep holding both buttons. When the apple logo appears, let go of the sleep button while pressing the home button, till u see a itunes logo with a charger pic below it.
open itunes, go to restore.
let it do its stuff and u get a working touch again.

A bit worrying there, my processes were fairly straight forward without these errors popping up. Try the link i posted above, the TouchFree.exe file does it in one click.

Wait....are you running this on Parallel, or Bootcamp?

For the record, my two Restores were for the Springboard/Summerboard installation, NOT for the jailbreaking. The jailbreaking went without a sweat. In fact, even after the two Restores, the subsequent jailbreaks were faster than usual, if that is possible at all.

Yup, the jailbreak is not permanent, you need to do it again, should you do a Restore. Which is a good thing, since if anything goes wrong, you can simply Restore yout iPod Touch to its factory default, and send it over to Apple to claim warranty.

Vista is problematic a bit, WinXP should be fine.

Your desktop theming makes it look like you're running WinXP virtualisation via Mac OS. tongue.gif
