It happened to me just last month up to rm7k



I happened to stumble upon an alert upon waking up 5am and saw this:



I was late to respond obviously was sleeping at that time.

I called the sms number and did an official report, but felt something was off because there was no follow up.

The transaction keep coming from 9th May to 12th May

On 12th May I called citi official number and asked for follow-up, they said never receive any report.

I was stumped. the sms may also be fake (or a redirected sms with fake content) the number provided earlier CS may have phished my detail.

Then i submitted another report, now i was provided a report # number for follow-up purpose.


How do i prove i did not do the transaction?
1. I dont have any Atome.my account
2. The card number used for the transaction is already pass expiry date 2019. The new valid card numberin use is different.
3. Because its local merchant transacting with local bank it should have asked for TAC for verification. I never consented to any.

The reimbursement was made by Atome.my, not by citi.

I don't know, I've never buy anything from Steam since I don't play any games.

But I'm a frequent buyer at the Amazon portal. I bought a lot of e-book(Kindle books) from them.
I'm using MAE prepaid card and BigPay card to pay.

Or else, if I lazy to topup, I just use CC to make payment

cause bank says its privacy... cannot reveal any details.. he scolded and make an official complain to the bank manager... i guess the bank is not doing its job to investigate further..... some of this bank employed ppl who are lazy...

Experienced this last month. Had RM85 ( 6 transactions ) spent on buying online games. Luckily received sms notification but all thevtransactions were done in around 1 minute.

Reported to the bank to cancel my debit card. A week later checked with the bank those transactions were totally removed from my account ( didnt appear in my acvount statement ) and my account balance was restored to its original amount.

Yep, transaction stopped at 12th May and it was reimbursed by Atome.my in 3 days.

I was ready to do police report if the citi CS didnt do their work.

I'd do various reports (Police/BNM/KPDN/MCMC) but things was resolved.

Deswai never save your card info on shopping sites. I don't trust these local e-commerce sites' security. These types of companies will NEVER tell you if they kena hack.

I don't trust the cashiers with my cards. I do everything myself because manataw they try to record or memorize the details. Still got idiots nowadays trying to take the card from me even with Kobis-21 and I have to wave it away.
