As usual slow and lag during prime time.

totally gone case... 30-50% packet loss worst then past 2 days...

Unable to play games at night during prime time. Having to resort to tether to maxis mobile, which is playable but with lag.

That is why the new google and Facebook undersea cable is so important.
Now we are stuck at this xxx hole.

Yup even vpn on also got spike, must be our cable shit

Anyone having problems connecting to Astro server, twitter etc. YouTube and Facebook seems to be fine though. Everything was OK early this morning.

Fed-up, so I wanted to set up my VPS in Singapore as VPN gateway to better undersea fibre.

.... and then I noticed the packet loss between the candidate VPS and TM Seberang Jaya.


Keep in mind this is between TM and Singapore, not yet some faraway land.

not sure about astro.. but twitter,youtube,facebook able to run no issue on my side.

if using your contabo as vpn for browsing or download i think nothing much different.

unless you going for live-stream or gaming or financial product then gone case

my side 360-400ms with 40% loss packet

ping from laptop the ec2 server above gave me avg 370ms 14% loss.

Didn't someone mention (either here or main unifi thread) that Shinjiru.my use a different peering and don't suffer from the current issue? Dunno true or not, also dunno about their prices.
Australia is also an option, I think. I don't have VPS there, but currently use my VPN provider's Sydney servers and no packet loss, though latency is obviously nowhere near as good as SG or HK (comparable to JP).

I use Contabo VPS because they give unmetered 200Mbps for 4 of 16 cores EPYC 7282 and 8Gb RAM for €7.5/mth.


(but few months ago i noticed they silently changed to 32TB outgoing, unlimited incoming)

6 transmitted, 4 received, 33% loss

If subscribe for 3 years with discount,actually not expensive. Because the bandwidth is 1Gbps unmetered.

Hi Team members,

can kindly advise , there is a customer site using TIME fibre with fortigate vpn ipsec to hong kong site for server application uses. for past few days users report there is connection intermittent and the server application lagging. ping to the hkg server application results show few request timed out. local internet accessing is no issue, normal ( email, other websites etc..) additionally no changes done between the local and hkg network in recent time.

so can we assume or conclude this may relate to this submarine cable issue? there is no mention of this issue in TIME website, only in TM website. please also advise if TIME are sharing TM infra or doesn't matter which local isp , if overseas cable fault involved it will affect all local ISPs. would appreciate your feedback for better understandings . Thank you.

TIME does not share TM's infra.

BUT, they might be using same upstream network provider.
