not advisable to have any eletronic devices under extreme change of temperature, i.e. blasting ur Wii with aircon.

'cos by doing so, u r making ur Wii, really cool, the moment u turned off ur air-con, ur room temperature will rise, and condensation kicks in, and ur cold wii will be wet.

remember... that applies to all ur electronic devices.

use fan better.

bro, in theory maybe you correct. but i already forget about thermodynamics
(cannot comment on that) . So i just give simple example. I never see any server room (computer) using
fan... all using aircon. I means good company@firm..not that lousy one...

even we (my company) advised customer to run our machine in air conditioned room.
TESTED and PROVEN to make your stuff (especially electronic) to last longer and prevent
damage.

fan also can cool down the temprature but it have one drawback -> dust

so i don't think using air con can spoilt electronic stuff

Those supposedly "server room" air-con are ON 24x7,
so in essence, there's no extreme temperature change. Its cold all the time.

Not like our house air-cons, we'll switch ON only when neccessary, OFF when not in use. rite?


oh.. and btw nub... u sure ur Wii doesn't feel warm when u leave it on standby(with the orange light)?
cause I'm pretty sure every Wii-owner has this complaint.

I'm not saying air-con will spoil your electronic devices. I'm saying CHANGES of temperature DRASTICLY will cause CONDENSATION, which may/will WET ur electronic devices.

& u've oredi said it...SERVER ROOM.

ALL Server room is 24x7 aircon environment (I nvr come across any server room isn't 24x7 air-conned) ... no drastic change of temperature.

and YES, u & ur company did the right thing by advising ur clients to run machines in an aircon environment.

however, we are talking about home here... which is not like office, i.e. 10-12 hrs air con.

you are right. One day I was messing around my consoles and foudn the wii to be incredibly hot. It really gave me a fright there as I've never experienced the wii at such temperature even after some extensive game play. Ever since then I disabled standby and never had the wii connected to the net unless done manually.

I've played MP3 for about 12 hours straight and the wii did not exhibit any sort of artifacts.

well mine was not hot even in orange mode, but still finding time to switch the orange mode off.

There's a simple 1 wire mod out there that will keep your wii's fan turned on even when standby, but only if wiiconnect is enabled.

hey, I found another problem to my wii...when Im using composite, plug all 3 input yellow red white to TV, the image seem ok...but when I pull out one of the audio input whether it is white or red, the image started to noisy...it even worse if pull out the two of them...I have tested on CRT and LCD same problem occur...can anybody verify this by testing ur wii...I want to make sure whether it is hardware problem or something else...

*UPDATE*

the wii indeed gets very hot when in ORANGE mode. Even under an aircorn
suggestion to switch it to RED mode for longer life

Hmmm.. My wii also having same temperature issue, but got some extra issue. When my Wii heat up, it tend to have the DVD spinning flickering sound.

Do anyone have this problem also? Not quite sure if its the DVD media problem, because found out that some game media diff quality build than other... ( i am talking about ori game )

yup mine also suffer the same problem...but it happen sometime only...quite annoying it is right...

Question, can the local game stores repair this problem?
I want to get it fix but I'm not sure how. Send it to Nintendo? I doubt it...

I had some graphic artifact/glitch issues (lines on the screen) when using 480p mode. Turned out it was the '3rd party' power adaptor. I used back the original power adaptor (requires a voltage adaptor) and the artifacts dissapeared. Those cheap-a** 3rd party power adaptors are not shielded properly.

I think I read somewhere that Wii actually have a second ARM9 CPU that handles the WiiConnect24 (sort of like that Killer NIC). The main Broadway CPU is put offline on standby.

As for graphics artifacts, same experience with zainframe. The only time I experienced that was when I was going into 480p mode with a "imitation" adapter. Switching back to the official adapter on a stepdown mitigated the problem, leading me to believe that the problem is caused by lack of power from "imitation" adapter.

I have my Wii in a horizontal position. It is well ventilated (not inside a cabinet, but sits right under the 19" TV). I often leave it on short standby periods (<1 hour). The unit barely feels warm, no heat issues.

Sorry im new owner of Wii

After playing for quite some time on my WII , i can feel one side of my WII is hot

After finish playing , i usually off it and also plug out the socket from the wall .. isit adviseable ?
Or should i stay in standdby mode if im not using my WII at the moment ?

the one side of the wii's hot is normal, if u study the wii design, the other side is just the disc tray....

i heard it's possible to leave ur wii on standby 24 hours, after all there's no actual power-off switch for the system anyway. i guessing it's safe to operate it like my CD player.... 24 hours on standby (the red LED light is constantly on)
