Any banks also will have the spread wide at least 2% which you will be losing end 🤦‍♀️ so no point unless if you have a native UK bank account to bank into not to mentioned conversion rates

that means if people willing to do this despite all the spread and bank commissions, that says alot on their future outlook of the country, this is basically like calling for short for the country

but yeah, the development of recent affairs really made me disappointed enough

i might join in the bandwagon of the fund outflow of the country icon_idea.gif

Just put in RHB MCA. The rate is super good. No stupid 2% extra spread. Better than Wise for sure.

RHB Singapore cut SGD FD rates by some 10 basis points.

Now 3 month ->3%, 6-month and 12-month -> 3.4% (down from 3.5%).

Maybank SGD FD 3.9% has T&C…. You need to set aside $1,000 into a savings account for every $10,000 you put in to enjoy the 3.9% for 12 months. The $1,000 earns the basic savings rate of 0.25% or some paltry figure like that….

send myr to rhb mca... convert to usd... fd placement... special fx rate with mca debit card-i but you pay rm20 per year for it... no other charges

my case already have usd... send to rhb mca... fd placement... yes have to decide currency/fx risk vs interest earned...
wise will use swift network to send to mca... extra fee around $25 irc... upon maturity can continue with usd fd or convert to myr within rhb... good fx rates for now...

I have opened an MCA at RHB now.
Previously I have already got an USD-account in another bank in Malaysia.

Last week I tried transferring some USD from this another bank into my MCA; it requires me to use SWIFT in this transfer.
The bank is charging a small amount for each outward TT; this I am clear.
But is the $25 fee chargeable by SWIFT and standard for all?

Just to be clear, when I make the above transfer, does the USD goes into exchange to MYR and then to USD in MCA again?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know RHB system works, nor have RHB MCA account, but last time did a AUD to AUD transfer from bank A to bank B due to better FD rate, it didn't need to be converted. Converted back and forth defy the purpose of transfer to chase better rate, as spread eat up a lot in conversion, the extra rate won't able to cover.

They did charge some admin fee like Rm30 as TT transfer fee.

3 different charges, no currency conversion in this case.

Outward Foreign TT : charged by sending bank
Correspondent Bank fee : Zero to ~ USD40, depending on the 3rd party bank involved
Inward Foreign TT : charged by receiving bank (waived for RHB MCA)

I have transferred both USD and CAD from overseas into RHB MCA and it was deposited exactly as sent.
No conversion to MYR anywhere in between.
