Where do you guys get the necessary 3rd party drivers for individual components? Can the OSes on each partition (Windows and OSX) view the other partition's files?

Ahh, okay thanks. smile.gif Just checked out the OSX86 10.5.1 package. Doesn't it come with the required Intel drivers for most of the hardware which Apple uses in their Macs? Won't they work in an OSX86 setup?

OS X is able to read both FAT32 and NTFS partition. It doesn't have problem to write data on a FAT32 partition, as for NTFS you need some patch and steps to write data on the partition. Please take note, patching to support NTFS is not official for Apple.

Hmm..... Then is it mentioned anywhere whether OSX86 is optimized for Intel/AMD processors, or ATi/nVidia cards? Also, say that I'm dual-booting XP and Vista at the moment, if I ad another FAT32 partition to install OSX86 on, will the Vista boot manager still maintain control, or do I need something else to manage booting from any of the 3 partitions?

err... you mean now you want install osx86? once you install osx86, there won't be FAT32. ok? mac uses HFS+. Well, i not so sure now it solve or not. From what i know (last time i try), dualboot vista and osx86 will have a little problem. You have to fix it. The troublesome is vista part. biggrin.gif For me, i prefer to use darwin bootloader. More information on how to dualboot/tri-boot, go insanelymac forum.

Processor? Of cos it is Intel punya C2D or SSE3. Graphic card? Both also not much different. As long as that card can get QE/CI, then it works best. Btw, don't think that your superb old card can get the best result la. rolleyes.gif

No FAT32 but HFS+..... Hmm, so is that where VMware comes into the picture? Would you mind pointing out the problems with dual-booting Vista and Leopard in explicit detail? Just so I know what to expect.... Anyways, thanks for the reply to my questions, mate. I've actually been looking out for good bargains for the 88 series since Day 1, I do realize that my GCard is trash... tongue.gif

err i don get you. laugh.gif

Well, when dualbooting with vista and hackintosh, one file will go missing or corrupted on vista side. Flag your vista drive and then use vista dvd to recover that file. Then Flag your mac drive using hackintosh dvd. From there, you should be able to boot to vista without problem via darwin bootloader. There got many kind of method anyway. I prefer to use darwin bootloader.

I got this error "Waiting for root device" or "SAM multimedia READ or WRITE failed"

Is it because I'm using SATA HDD?

got a working mac 10.5.2 on my pc and spec as in my sig.
installed from iATkos i1.0r2 (10.5.1) then use kalway 10.5.2 combo update >kalway 10.5.2 kernal patch > leopard graphic update and edit the kext for NVinject to match my 8800GT, everything working fine and i use dlink G122 usb wifi(using ralink RT2500 drivers) to get online.

now minor prob i got is when i click the "Detect monitor" or try and change to other resolution on the display propeties thr whole screen goes blank blue color. then need to reset pc. is it i need to reinstall again the NVinject by john(from insanlymac forum) or any thing i can do?

I'm thinking of installing osx into an external hard drive as seen at osx86 wiki page.

I own a HP Pavillion dv6227tx laptop with the spec stated at this page
(DV6227tx Spec).
I think of using Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD to install it.

1)Can I install leopard on my laptop?
2) have anybody here try install leopard into external usb hard drive?
3) if the installation process failed or got problem using it, would it bring any harm to my laptop/ external hard disk?
4) if i boot osx from my external hard drive, will it kacau my windows installed in my hard drive? thanks.
5) "this installer will set hd bootable for you !" what does this mean? I got it from Kalyway 10.5.1 description..
