Hi guys. I'm new in this and have no experience in installing osx on my laptop.

My Acer Aspire 4920 specification as below.

3GB DDR2 667Mhz RAM

250GB SATA HDD
WLAN: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN
LAN: Gigabit Ethernet

Would really appreciate if anyone can guide me which tutorial should I follow.

I'm going to get my new XPS 1530 next week or so. As I did some research I found that it's hardware would be pretty good too successfully run 10.5.1/2 with everything working.

I'm kind of a noob and I'm a bit confused about Dual and Triple boot systems.
The goal is to get 10.5 fully working (PC_EFI + vanilla Kernel) + XP and Vista + Dells Media Direct.

As far as I know you can install Dells Media Direct by cd BEFORE installing XP/Vista. It creates a new partition.

So any suggestions?
I wonder which partition table to use , mbr or guid, I hardly know the differences. Which should I choose to get a Triple boot system working?

Which install dvd should I use? iAtkos r2, Kalyway?

I have install the kext for broadcom 440x ethernet on my acer laptop but when I connect to router, the under system preferences>network, it shows 'cable unplugged' anyone know how to solve it?

U can go to lowyat plaza ,4th floor .There is a big shop name something like "Asia" .They are selling original Mac computer there. I'm not sure the actual price .....I just sight see one time....
At least u got alternative choice.... .They demo a powerful imac ,i think is 24in lcd monitor which is running the vista ultimate (boot camp ? ). It is response very fast.

I don't know how to do all those install kext stuff, find the right driver whatsoever, any god links that I can read?

From my experience, its abit sluggish at times and unstable too. For best experience, i suggest you get a macbook. Summore the new macbook price is so attractive

I got no problem connecting adium but i got few features not working like wifi, webcam and audio jack (headphones and mic)

i recently bought a belkin pci express wireless lan card. its F5D7000ak. using realtek 8185 chipset. is there anyway i can get it work? my friend was using F5D7001ak running on broadcom chipset and his one was detected as airport without any hassle of fixing. hope u can help me on this because i've spend RM120 on this card hope it'll not be wasted...im running on kalaway 10.5.1...thx in advance...

go get the zephyroth AMD 10.5.1 installer... marvin's utility will also help you a lot


Btw, Leopard 10.5.2 success install on my dell vostro 1500. Dual Boot with Vista too.
Everything works except intel 3945abg wifi and mic input.

Added on April 7, 2008, 12:54 aminstall kext u get ur kext files 1st.

2 ways:
1.go find kext helper b7. drag the kext in, easy install, gao dim.

2.do it manually.
i. paste the kext file in the directory, usually /system/library/extensions
ii. open terminal, you have to fix permissions, type:

sudo -s
*password*
cd /system/library/extensions
chown -R root:wheel (urkext).kext
chmod -R 755 (urkext).kext
kextload -v (urkext).kext

iii. reboot.

then shud be installed!

Hey guys... i tried installing this OSx86 into my laptop which is a 1.7ghz centrino 512mb. just wanna try out.. but it just got stucked after the mac finished loading.. which is the light blue screen.. i waited for almost 30mins, nothing is blinking, neither the dvd-rom nor the hardisk light. So anyone experience this before?

Do i need a clean harddisk for the installing? which also means do i have to manually format my harddisk? i dun need anything from my laptop.. so i dun care about dual boot or partitions.. Please enlighten me.. thanks..

Most likely is your display card not recognized by osx, what display card are u using rite now?

Try connect to a external monitor and reboot.

When installing osx leopard try not to include display drivers in it, let it run generic kext.

I've experienced the same problem before. It happen when i still havent install my gfx driver for me compaq. I boot into safe mode (type -x at darwin boot thing) then install 10.5.2 update + the driver and it works fine now.
