Hi all, I'm currently looking to get a 65' TV as well
I'm leaning towards TCL 65C716, at the moment. The TCL mini led, or even from other brands that was announced late last year is an interesting choice as well, any idea when will those TVs is going to be released? |

QUOTE(anonymous4privacy @ Feb 21 2021, 12:11 PM) so after 3 days of scouting and visiting almost all major electronics retailers in kl, i have narrowed down and also not in peace with my selection. Hope to get some clarity, advice or point me in the correct direction from the sifu's here. im surveying for a new tv for my new house as well.previous model: Toshiba 50" LED (50L2300VM) Manufacture Year: 2013 Problem Year: 2021 (double image) To check: RM 150 To repair: RM 500 - 700 quoted by local repair shop - suspect ribbon problem or something. (no panel problem) To usage years: 8 years Decided to look for new TV. Usage requirements: 1. Astro 4K 2. Online streaming 3. unifi Tv 4. Bluray 5. TV is the only source of entertainment in my family. 6. I love watching movies. 7. My viewing distance: 11 feet 8. My parents viewing distance: 23 feet 9. Daytime light is a lot Specification requirements: 1. 65" 2. 4K native 3. HDR 4. Dolby Audio Not sure: 1. HDR - 500 nits and above? 2. Dolby Vision? 3. Dolby Atmos? 4. VA/IPS Panel? 5. Get now or wait? 6. 55"/65"/75" 7. of course budget is the deciding factor but to make it simple i cant afford oled price tag of 5 digits. sadly. From my survey: 1. Samsung 65TU8000 - RM 3,380 2. Samsung 65TU8500 - RM 3,640 3. Sony X8000 - RM 3,860 4. Sony X9000 - RM 6,000 ( 5. LG 65UN7400 - RM 3,550 Other brands not surveyed. Currently learning towards 65TU8500 but the kicker kicked in last minute which was a 75" taking a blind swipe at me and throwing me off focused. Not satisfied or at peace with all the picture qualities based on my survey. Kicker: while chatting up with all retailers, i found some retailers offering a 75" LG - 75UN7200 that retails RM 8K at RM 6.6K. The lowest managed to chat up is for that 75" is RM 5,600(seems to be the best thus far in terms of offerings compared to any other retailers out there.) That threw me off focused a bit. Harvey norman comes in no. 2 with the so called focus campaign where they are offering Samsung TU7000-TU8500 at a good price. Take note all retailers have their own extended warranty that i need to top up(senheng + 1 year free, others + 2/3 years paid) So yeah....i hope i haven't missed anything. The reason i am posting here is my undecisiveness and the "WANT" of having the best movie affordable movie experience. I know "best" and "affordable" doesn't sit in the same sentence, i guess i am just looking for a reassurance from someone to nail the hammer on the coffin. appreciate your kind assistance or advice on this matter, Thank you. based on my current research, from urs and ur parents viewing distance, 65 inch is a bit too small. better go for 75 inch and above. for living room i think x90h series should be quite nice for you. go for samsung or lg lcd only if budget is ur concern. go for OLED only if u r viewing in a completely dark room. Let me make your life easy.
After going through so much reviews and talking to so many people including with all the major retailers. The following is my conclusion. 1. Salesman at all retailers are just knowledgeable to certain extent. 2. Usually they try to upsell their house brand tie up or something called an event model(this is a thing, where major retailers will take a SKU from big brand and rebadge it) - example: my LG NANO79 is not available as a official model on website. the official model is LG NANO81. (its the same) 2. Don't listen to too many peoples feedback. too many information spoils your own mind and objective. 3. your spatial environment + viewing habit is crucial in deciding the type of tv. not the brand of tv. 4. brand of tv is only decided as a peace of mind. 5. take, take, take the 5 years extended warranty. (you can sleep soundly). this entails a 1 to 1 replacement of the same model or a current model or of a similar value from any brands) 6. I went to Senheng, TBM, Harvey, the ss2 shops(got 3), some smaller retailers(cant recall). I think Senheng gives much value for money and TBM for the security(made friends with someone there) 7. Edge Lit LED, Full Array LED, OLED, MINI LED - Definitely MINILED and OLED 8. QLED falls under a Full array LED - usually 16 zones. 9. Processors in the market is usually Dual core for entry and mid level models and Quad Core for certain Mid Level to High end model. 10. Samsung - Colour reproduction is to POPPING. 11. LG - for me its good colour reproduction. 13. Chinese brands - big upsell is the android functionality. (i wont suggest it). Usually it comes with all bells and whistle but with no ongoing or limited support. 14. Sony - good for high end models. (for midrange models - processor, image trailing, android...) 15. if budget can be around 6-7 - Please consider full array, MINI LED or OLED(55) 16. 2020 models of OLED has built in screen refreshes that reduces the burn-in. but then again the idea of OLED burn is not to be fussed about as you are not running it like a shop display unit. 18. You may think the view habit is more during day time but you might be surprised how much of a difference it makes when (if you are like me) watch at night in a pitch dark living room. 19. i still standby the 65" size as it would be the best viewing for any distance. in my case, i tested again yesterday , standing behind at 23 feet , it still looks amazing. went back to sleep in front of the tv (10 feet) looks good. my tv is on the cabinet as high as my hips. 20. 75" was my initial thought as i could have gotten it for the same price but after checking the upscaling and the current content from netflix, my OCD, ADHD or whatever DD's would kick in so badly. 21. the only thing i nitpick now is my choice of going with edgelit panel instead of full array. (not zoned ones) because at night the light splll over is obvious. but its best for a dark scene (like really dark scene) CONCLUSION: LG, SAMSUNG, SONY - just pick one of these PANASONIC - stay away Chinese Brands - TCL, XIAOMI, SKYWORTH - Good not bad but not Great. SAMSUNG(VA Panel/QLED) - Processor, OS, colour reproduction - Redflag LG(Edgelit/FullArray/OLED) - Apps Got money - go for 55 OLED Want big size - go for Full array 65 Too much money - go for 65 OLED GILA - go for 75 and above OLED Selamat Hari Raya. |

QUOTE(goldwave84 @ May 13 2021, 11:47 PM) MiniLED and QLED is different. You probably need to do a lot of crazy reading like some other to know what these are. Honestly, the advice by anonymous4privacy above sounds like the simplest/easiest I can give most people also. Pick a budget and then pick a model from Samsung, Sony, LG. Even reading reviews online can end up being more confusing because these brands donât release the same thing across the world. Why you read as an amazing panel in US sites may end up being crap in Malaysia.....and you actually pay more for it in Malaysia. About Panasonic, I actually disagree about staying away. Their flagship GZ2000 is the best OLED TV in terms of picture processing. Itâs just that the flagship was never sold in Malaysia, and I donât see any reviews on their lower end models. TO OP, I agree with what most ppl said about OLED. If your budget can stretch to 6k, those 55â LG CX models from last year is the best you can get.
OLED is a straightforward but expensive choice. All other LCDs, you have to deal with a headache inducing mess of spec - some which are unknown. |

Saw on shopee lot of listing for Sony 65'' A8h selling at RM8xxx (2 years warranty), with another 10% cashback.
So, if including those cashback, it seems like fitting his budget?? I bought a8h from senq recently, if including those ez credit rebate, the total cost is around 72xx (including 600 old tv trade in, 500 voucher I got from credit card , and 2+2 warranty). It just TS stuck on a budget...Should take the chance last year when Best Denki offered 65" 2020 X90H below RM6000 during 12.12.2020. Now, an update to X90H, the 2021 X90J is priced at RM7599 for 65" with some "better" improvements over X90H (I put a quote there as better can be different to other people). This MSRP is slightly higher priced than when X90H was introduced last year, maybe due to the current chip shortage.

Currently the LG BX 65 is selling around 7.7-8.0K in shopee.
Comparing with X90J seems to be a better deal right? |

It seems like the value of the trade in TV is related to the TV you going to buy instead of the TV you going to trade in. For example I traded in my old Panasonic 42'' plasmas for rm600, as I buying a8h. If i buy x9000h (which i targeted initially), the same TV can only trade in for rm400. For my case, as long as the TV is functioning, they took the full trade in price, else it will be half of it. Anyway, it seems like not all new TV is offered with trade in, can check senq website to know though. The previous TV wasn't bought from senq. QUOTE(maeve,) maeve liked this post

I think the listed price was RM12599. - The shop discount rm2000 - trade in old tv rm600 - my credit card voucher rm500 - 15% ez credit rebate of the 12599 list price. - the sales guy gave me another rm377 discount. For TV trade in, please refer to my reply above. By the way, to get 4 years warranty, you need to be citi plus one member of senq. I don't see a8h listed in senq website anymore though.
