You have already pulled the trigger , so there is no point to be obsessed with being right or wrong .

I wouldn't have gone for the same choice the but at the very least ,  any TV in your list should be a massive upgrade compare with the 8 years old Toshiba .
Note : the X90 is obviously in a different league compare with all the rest , even the price is almost doubled.

Say you got 5-6k as yr budget and yr looking for the best 65inch tv you can get. Mostly used for astro / Netflix / Prime with gaming down the line. What would you pick?

Congrats on the 65" LGNANO79 purchase. I too am on the lookout for a new TV and think 65 inches is what I am looking for. Have you tried it with Astro? How does the upscaling look like?

If you are looking for the best deal , there is this display unit for 65 " Q90R still looking for new owners in Desahome for RM6999 and you can probably get some bargain off it .

Just make sure you get a good warranty period off them .
You don't always need to buy the newest LCD line up as very little has improved in the past few years .
New = marketable . And when it is marketable , it is going to be quite pricey .

Thanks for the quick reply!

I've spent hours last night looking at all the reviews as I truly am an "reviews and awards" kinda guy as it helps me sift through marketing gimmicks.

Not been able to come up with a solid conclusion. I like your Q90R suggestion, however it has been run a lot as it's a display model. Great suggestion none the less.

I've been looking at brands like TCL and Xiaomi as both offer 65 & 75 inches. However I can't seem to pull the trigger on it.

I'm in no rush as my current TV is functioning perfectly well abit being only 40 inches. I do have a 50 inch samsung in the bedroom but it does not have astro, unfortunately.

I guess the search continues....

I moved from a 50" to a 65".
I think 65" is a sweet spot.
But after using a 65", I do feel sometimes I could also do a 75".
For now the size is just good till my next upgrade.

It works flawlessly with astro.
My family watches quite a no of channels on astro on daily basis which is just full hd. The upscaling looks natural.

LG seems to have a better color reproduction and hdr capabilities for mid range TV.

Without a doubt lg is a TV to go with. I do not suggest buying a TV with android as its not gonna have on going support after 5 years. Its better and more worth it to have chromecast if.... Iffffff really need it. But from my experience.... I rarely use it.

So at the moment... I am satisfied and feel secure with my purchase.

I'm very happy know that the LG upscales well as It's a very important criteria for me. I'm in the same boat about the software as you can always plug in the latest and greatest TV boxes ( I've used Apple TV and Mi Box and my money is on Apple TV if you can afford it) once the original software reached end of life. What is more important is the panel and the color configuration etc etc, the meat of the device, if you will.

On the note of the sound bar, yes totally but unfortunately my TV area is an open space and sound really travels. Oh well, can't do much there.

I am the exact opposite, I would read reviews to a certain extend only. Numbers matter more than reviews IMO. 😂

What numbers are you referring to?

numbers like luminance, SDR HDR brightness, DCI P3, color volume and etc.

Have you checked out rtings.com? They run comprehensive tests. Sometimes numbers don't translate into great real world results. Just IMO.

Hi all, I'm currently looking to get a 65' TV as well

I'm leaning towards TCL 65C716, at the moment.

The TCL mini led, or even from other brands that was announced late last year is an interesting choice as well, any idea when will those TVs is going to be released?
*
TCL 65C716 - Can you get this in Malaysia through official channels?

Got TCL in lazada/shopee? But the TCL C716 here is the 5 series,  vs the 6 series that got good reviews in the US reviewers.

I'm considering HiSense U800QF as well, but again, this version is not similar to the H9G that's received good reviews in the US.

Unfortunately this is true. We are not getting those best rated models.

TO OP, I agree with what most ppl said about OLED. If your budget can stretch to 6k, those 55” LG CX models from last year is the best you can get.

OLED is a straightforward but expensive choice. All other LCDs, you have to deal with a headache inducing mess of spec - some which are unknown.

I just started my research and oh boy, there is so much to read...very pening! I'm not in a rush so i'll keep narrowing down my options.

My goal :65 - 75 inch TV

OLED, dont think I can afford it, for 65 inch and above.

Still need to check some reviews and see what if the best model I can get.

Max budget is RM8k. Plus minus 500.

I would like it to last me at least 10 years.
