for me, package is good.

im using all that service but not in combo as different account..

need to consolidate in order to make it as one. a bit hassle because different owner.

so far, using Maxis as my daily internet i faced very minimal issues. speed wise and latency, same like using unifi last time.

TM - Supply Fiber
Maxis - Supply your service
Astro - Supply your TV

So 3 companies comes to your place to install if you want to apply.

No, only 2 parties involve if you're applying Astro & Broadband.
TM installer to lay the cable, and Astro installer to configure / replace you decoder (upgrade to Ultrabox)

The internet is nothing to do with Astro. it's basically 2 different thing (standalone) but bundling into a promo package.
As you can see the bill posted by some1, it shows as Maxis Broadband.

That rebate valid for 24 months. This month marked the 13th month into the contract. icon_rolleyes.gif

During first few months of MCO period, Asstro gave extra RM20 discount on sport pack + all channels viewing. I was paying RM109.20 per month. icon_idea.gif

I believe most of the ISPs are using the same retention strategy & promo. The ISPs will offer you with latest promo, to recontract the customer.
Same goes to telco companies which they will be offering you with new phone, TV kind of promo..etc
Of course, customer would have the final said in, to renew or to switch..

Thanks for the info.
I didn't know astro do the rojak way to introduce the broadband.
internet cover by grandpa maxis.
watch tv channel plan cover by astro.

Then download p2p have to ask grandpa maxis see whether allow
or not .
Sigh....malaysia is like that.
As i observed hong kong , japan , taiwan and korea they throttle
p2p as well. Some of them didn't , it depends on ISP that u subscribe.

hey guys

very interested with this package

so the guy i call astro says that the free upgrade is for 24month contract: which mean i pay RM128. 95 for 30Mbps + Starter Pack

my worries come from the internet it self.. will raining cause issue like astro normally do

i assume it wont since i read here is base on Astro & Broadband berkolaberasi bersama Maxis Home Fibre

anything i should know or caution about before i apply? i need it for my work purpose ( which heavy con call daily)
if i take the 30Mbps + Starter Pack = The broadband will show RM89 in the bill?

1. Nope, it's using maxis fiber for internet
2. If you internet goes down you may experience delay in contacting support....if for example, the fiber cable putus, you'll need to call Astro&Broadband department to complain and they will forward the issue to maxis and then TM.
3. The internet bill will show on astro bill

Just subscribe to any broadband with any provider and then get Astro Box connected to the broadband... done! You can forget about Maxis

I think you can deal directly with Astro. Since you are still an Astro subscriber, I dont see any issue with it.

Does your contract has terms for cooling off period? Or trial period?

if i get 30 Mbps RM89. the cheapest package as a non-astro subscriber will be family pack RM104.95? so I can't really get the RM89 standalone (aka directly subscribe to Maxis internet)

Whoever subscribe to Astro & Broadband now, technically it will be under Maxis Fibre network (VLAN 821).

But since Astro partnered with TM, that means Astro will become an ISP soon (just like Digi Fibre or Celcom Fibre) and no longer rely on Maxis as middlemen. So once that happens, Astro will have their own VLAN ID soon.

Astro has stopped offering IPTV Multicast to customers since late last year. For those who already been using IPTV Multicast (either through TIME Fibre or Maxis Fibre) will continue to be able to use as usual, but Astro will encourage you to upgrade to Ulti/Ultra Box under Plug and Play (also known as Unicast, that doesn't uses dedicated VLAN ID).

For Plug and Play one, just connect the box to the internet (WiFi or LAN also can), then you can stream the channels already, similar to Unifi Plus Box. LAN cable are not compulsory unlike Astro IPTV (that uses Multicast VLAN).

Astro Fibre uses their own VLAN ID, and it doesn't use Maxis VLAN IDs like Astro & Broadband.

How to check what international links they use though? hmm.gif

Hi Guys, im still using Astro IPTV Multicast pair with Ultrabox and Wifi 6 router, I like Multicast more compare with Plug and Play.

What the advantage using Plug & Play compare multicast? I found Plug & Play is downgrade compare Multicast

- Switching Channel slower
- After switch channel picture quality gradually change to high quality video
- use/share my internet bandwidth
- found out some of channel / radio missing

Recently I received a SMS saying that my IPTV will change to a single network mode to enable Plug & Play Ultra/Ulti.

Any one facing same situation with me ? Im planning to terminate my Astro if they phase out multicast.

Then no need to think further. Don't change to Plug & Play. Continue using your Astro IPTV Multicast until the day it die itself. Enjoy it while you still can.
In the meantime, they might use scare tactics on you (e.g. saying that Astro IPTV will stop working soon).

If Astro IPTV (Multicast service) really died someday, yet you don't want the above scenarios happen on you, then the closest alternative is go for satellite mode (uses Astro dish).
If you cannot or don't like to use Astro dish for some reasons, then sorry to say, it's either Astro Plug & Play or no Astro at all.

Thank you for your suggestion, Astro Multicast with dish not acceptable for Malaysia weather.
The only reason im subscribing Astro because of IPTV Multicast, most reliable and stable, no service disruption faced during rainfall, smooth & swift watching experience.

Too bad if Astro really terminate IPTV multicast service and losing user like me.

For your info, Astro's Plug & Play is equivalent to Unicast technology. It doesn't use dedicated VLAN 823 Multicast like Astro IPTV, and it uses your existing Internet bandwidth to stream Astro channels, just like how you use your Internet connection to stream Netflix.

About the rain fade issue, both Ulti and Ultra Box has this feature which they called it Continuous Viewing. This feature is only available for Astro satellite dish users.
user posted image
When your Astro box is under Satellite mode, and there's heavy rain outside, this message will appear (as shown on pic above)
Once you press OK, it will try to buffer/load the particular TV channel via Internet streaming. The picture quality you see now, will be the same as what you see on Plug & Play.
At least, you can still continue watching your programme when it rains...

When there's still heavy rain outside, everytime you tune to other channels, this message will prompt again and again, until the weather is clear; until it's able to get satellite signal again.

Otherwise, if you don't want such thing as rain fade ever happens on you, then go for the full Plug & Play, but you know la what are the downsides of it, which you've mentioned on your previous posts.
Unlike Astro IPTV Multicast, but Astro's Plug & Play is prone to network congestion. So if your TV viewing will be affected if either your Internet connection or Astro CDN servers is screwed up.

Make sure you call customer service to inform that you wish to do so at least 30 days before your contract ends.

If you're already on the new Astro pack, the contract will automatically renew/extend itself once the existing contract ends.
Example: Your Astro (TV subscription) contract ends on Nov 2024. You'll receive SMS about 1 month before contract expiry date, to remind you that contract will auto renew on the next month.
If you do nothing, then your contract will automatically extend itself afterwards, hence the contract end date now would automatically become Nov 2026.

However, if you are on Astro's legacy packs, then you don't need to worry about contract auto renewal. If there's remaining contract, then it will end as it is, and that's it.
Check your Astro bill if you're not sure whether you're on legacy or new Astro pack, or you can tell us what Astro package you're on now?

On the other hand, for the broadband service itself however, the 24 month contract will end as is, and it won't auto renew, unless if you make major changes to your Internet service (upgrade speed, relocation...) then it's different story la...
QUOTE(alucard89 @ Oct 30 2022, 10:49 PM)

Short answer: Yes, but...

Long answer:
1) If you want to bundle your Astro account (TV + Internet), then you must switch to the new packs (if you haven't) and you cannot retain your legacy Astro packs.
Plus, if you insist to retain your PVR box, then you cannot choose packages that includes Netflix, which are Entertainment Plus, Movies Plus, Sports Plus, Premium Pack 2/3, Platinum Pack.
Which means your only option left to choose Astro's new packs are: Primary, Entertainment, Sports, Movies, Premium Pack 1.

2) If you insist to retain your legacy Astro pack, then your only option left is to subscribe to the standalone Astro Fibre. Hence, your existing Astro (TV subscription) are left untouched as it is.
Which means technically, you will be getting separate Astro accounts/bills, one is for standalone Astro (TV), another is standalone Astro Fibre (internet only).

Hi, I'm looking to swap over from Unifi 500mbps that I'm paying RM219 for, to an Astro TV Package + 800mbps Fibre package because of the price is way cheaper and TM don't want to give me a better deal on 800mbps despite being with them for 20 years+. Current astro package is Super Pack Plus 3 which I'm currently paying RM194 , is it a legacy package? and can I just subscribe to a 800mbps fibre plan on top of my current plan or do I need to choose an entirely new whole package itself? Any advice would be helpful, thanks.

edit: nvm I got my answer above, just gotta read lmao

But anyway, anyone got any experiences with astro broadband itself? Hard to find any since theres not even an official thread for this.

Yes. It is a legacy pack.

and can I just subscribe to a 800mbps fibre plan on top of my current plan or do I need to choose an entirely new whole package itself?
If it's on top of your current Super Pack 3 Plus, then nope, you cannot.
Unless if you give up your Super Pack 3 Plus, and then switch to the new Astro packs.
Just a reminder that if you choose the 12/24-month contract option, the contract will be auto-renewal basis (just for the TV subscription itself).

Otherwise, you may opt for standalone Astro Fibre service, then your existing Astro's Super Pack 3 Plus can be left untouched.
And that might mean, you'll be getting 2 separate Astro bills, one for TV, another for Internet, rather than 2-in-1 bill.

But anyway, anyone got any experiences with astro broadband itself? Hard to find any since theres not even an official thread for this.
Not me.
But what I want to remind you is, Astro Fibre currently does not have VoIP service (house phone), and does not offer Public IP; only offers Private IP.
If your needs requires either of the 2, then you might want to reconsider your options.

That one is Astro & Broadband.
Astro & Broadband versus Astro Fibre are 2 different things.

Astro & Broadband commonly known for providing you Maxis Internet + Astro TV subscription in one Astro bill.
And you'll be getting Maxis Fibre router, and also using Maxis VLAN ID of 621.
If you do speedtest or check the IP address, you'll see that your ISP is under Maxis.
If you want Public IP, you call Astro customer service, then Astro escalates your request to Maxis.

Astro Fibre however, is Astro's own Internet service, and does not rely on Maxis at all.
You'll be getting Astro branded router, and it uses Astro's own VLAN ID, not Maxis VLAN 621.
If you do speedtest or check the IP address, you'll see that your ISP is under Astro Fibre.
If you ask for Public IP or VoIP, then they can only say sorry to you.

As what I know, public IP is available upon request if you're on Astro & Broadband (Maxis), regardless of speed.

But for Astro Fibre however, they don't offer Public IP at all.

No public IP option, over reliant on TM bandwidth wholesale and no advantages unless you bundle with overpriced Astro subscription.

It depends whether Astro Fiber customers was CGNATed behind 103.232.219.0/24 or 103.179.70.0/24. If it was the latter, then Astro Fiber customers are multi-homed, if it was the former, then single-homed. Any Astro Fiber customers want to shed light on this?

I asked Astro thru their Facebook page and also email support.
It can't use 3rd party router with Astro Fibre, must use given router.

This stops me switch to Astro Fibre because already have my own WiFi 6 router

Technically you can use 3rd party router with Astro Fibre, provided if you know how to configure it yourself and obtain the PPPoE username and password from them.
Imagine what will happen if they say "Yes, you can use 3rd party router with Astro Fibre..."?
The next questions is going to be "How to set it up? Can you send someone to come and set up for me?".

Obviously they're not gonna guide you on how to configure a router that doesn't belongs of them, just like any other ISP... So, they might as well make things simple and say "nope, you must use the provided router.". sweat.gif

So far, the performance has been good at my parent's. Sendayan area in Seremban. Latency and jitter are low, and speed tests have been consistent.

The only downer is that they don't provide a public IP address. I hope they sort that out soon, that's what their FAQ indicates anyway. For now, I use TailScale to get past that limitation.

FYI. I’m on Astro Broadband 500Mbps for about 6 months. Location in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. Speed is decent. The only bummer is the frequent disconnect; sometimes no internet connection up to an hour, happens a few times per week. Complaint to Astro doesn’t seem to solve my situation. Can’t wait until the contract ends to port out from this.

The reason you wanna use the Asus router is because of?
And, which model of Astro Fibre router are you using? Is it white colour or black colour?

It’s the lousy skyworth RG21. Ever since this was installed, my work laptop wifi kept getting disconnected to the point I couldn’t even hold a meeting without needing to reconnect at least 4-5 times per call. Since I had my own Asus ax82 which was working flawlessly with Unifi and had better wifi coverage there’s no reason not to use it.

You mean you've decoupled your Astro & Broadband (Allo) service back in April, by terminating Astro TV service but maintain Allo Internet service, correct?

And now you want to terminate Allo Internet service, is it? If yes, then you'll need to contact Allo customer service instead.

In some rare instances, Maxis may be using their own Infrastructure

But it's quite rare

But usually that infra gets exclusive deals that are far far far cheaper than even time

guys,
Astro Fibre got promotion, RM89 for 500mbps for 2 years. I'm currently with unifi 800mbps with basic free channels (which i rarely watch) RM189. They say, migrating to Astro Fibre is simple as they will use the current TM infra. no need new wiring, just re-configure the details.
Do you guys think is it worth it?

I have been using unifi for more than 15 years and don't face any major downtime and if there is any issue when I lodged a case with tm, they will call me the next day and get it fixed immediately with visitation.
For assthrow fiber, we don't even hear the same service level render on par with unifi.

Why do people want a contract with Astro?
2 companies I avoid like a plague. Astro and Yes.

Astro is so hard to cancel even when your contract is already over.
From past experience.

Best is take something without contract like 5G broadband. No fuss and they don’t have power over you.

Astro Fibre implement 24 months contract to its customers, is because TM imposes 24 contract to Astro, just like any other ISP that rides under TM HSBB Infra. So basically Astro is reciprocate what TM do to them.

Also, companies make it harder to terminate, is obviously because they don't want to lose customers easily.

Why do people want a contract with Astro?
2 companies I avoid like a plague. Astro and Yes.

Astro is so hard to cancel even when your contract is already over.
From past experience.

Best is take something without contract like 5G broadband. No fuss and they don’t have power over you.
*
They want the convenience to get all into 1 bill without knowing the reputation or do homework.
Also, assthrow is bundled it with the pay tv services like 500Mbps at cheaper price.

Where is the source TM imposes 24 contract to Assthrow?
Are you saying TM imposes contract for every customer subscribing to Assthrow fiber?
*
Basically, any ISP riding on TM Infra like Maxis, when you subscribe to them, they are basically also subscribing to tm line, and they are also tied into a 24 month contract

so, when you terminate early and have to pay termination fees, that money is going into TM

So you mean TM is charging the other ISP for every subscribers they are able to bait in a 24 months period?
If other ISP does not have any new customers, then other ISP is not liable to pay to TM?

I think it is new to me.. any source where we can read it up?

Any ISP that uses TM infra (in this context, Astro Fibre), and that ISP activates the particular Internet account on TM side, it is like TM authorise its fibre port to the particular customer, so TM will start charging the respective ISP and the 24 months contract will start counting.
If the ISP breach the contract (e.g. terminate the Internet account prematurely), a penalty of up to RM2,400 shall be imposed to the respective ISP (Astro Fibre), where the ISP (Astro) will charge it back to customer.
For TM's point of view, this is to 'secure' the cost they invest to this particular customer (e.g. especially laying fibre cable from DP box to customer house, provide TM fibre modem, maintain overall infrastructure).

This is an insider info... I got this info from the *ahem* staffs who work in this department.
If you want to know further, the best is you change job and work in ISP companies where the role is mainly handling on broadband campaigns/system order creation related matters, then you would know deeper... although they may tell you that these may be 'confidential' and info like these are "not supposed" to expose to the public sweat.gif

That's the rule that TM has for the ISP, but it is also up to the respective ISP to make contract rule more "strict".
For example for Astro Fibre, if you subscribe to Astro Fibre bundle (TV + broadband) in one bill, which means you will be on the new Astro packs.
Hence, the 24 month contract auto renewal will apply to your entire Astro subscription, including the broadband portion. Meaning, if you breach the contract prematurely, you'll be paying the prorated penalty for both TV and broadband at the same time.
Well, as per its general T&C, Astro can set whatever business rules they want as they see fit.

IT job is a big No No now as AI will take over the job anytime.
So it is better to get the eldest of the family... maybe great grandparents to sign up the internet plan... in case, the passing... then no need to pay...
One of my old neighbours has passed away and they accumulated a big amount of unpaid utility bills... so TM, Assthrow, etc have to write off the bills.

In less than a year, the stock rgw21 router almost kaput. 2.4ghz wifi already dead. Tried changing channel etc but nothing help. Tried to restart and the router wouldn't turn on at first. Slap it few times then ok already but wifi still only works on 5ghz.

Called them on Tuesday, supposedly to call me back today but no response. Tomorrow will try my luck again.

Actually it worked very well still... apart from the 2.4GHz wifi... Strange that even though the 2.4GHz LED lit up, it cant be searched at all. Sometimes my tapo cam still can connect when I turned it off but after a while, it would stop connecting altogether. At first I thought maybe network interference from neighbours, but after changing the network mode between 20mhz/40mhz and also switching channel, it still does not work. Astro still havent call me back. Speaking of bad service...

It could be due to hardware manufacturing defect or firmware issue...
You know the scenario where out of millions of routers produced out there, probably a few of them may have defects (failure rate), and then so happen unfortunately andrekua2 got the defect one?
That could happen also.

Astro came and hard reset it... lets see how long it will work before the next reset.

Astro a bit strict when it comes to login information. The installer wont give it to you. So lazy to call them since it is under my mom's name.

After getting the username and password from Astro, it is not their obligation to assist you to configure the username and password on your own router, so you'll have to figure it out yourself, or look for online tutorials for guidance.

Astro 30Mbps? Are you on Astro & Broadband (Maxis) 30Mbps plan?

Free speed upgrade offers is mainly valid for Astro Fibre, not Astro & Broadband.
It's 2 different product offerings actually.

Hi there,

Normally, I will try to look through Google for instructions, but I can't seem to find the directions to set up the Asus CT8 with Astro Fiber (not Astro+Broadband). I was wondering if anyone can walk me through on how to set up the router.

1. I already have the PPOE username and password
2. I cannot find VLAN in LAN config in Asus web UI to set it to 630
3. Any other things I should consider?

I am by no means a network engineer, so please be patient with me when giving the instructions tongue.gif

Also, all my CCTV with LAN cables are not working (connected to a switch. WiFi cameras are OK). Could it be because of the lack of Public IP? They were working before with Maxis. If so, is there a workaround?

Thank you!

LAN -> IPTV -> Select ISP Profile -> Manual Setting -> enter the vlan into the Internet section

as for the cctvs... is it the "traditional" kind with a central recorder that needs port forwarding? If so, I dont think there is exactly an option for public ip, probably have to look into solutions like tailscale or zerotier

Well, it is known (at least to me) that sometimes their agents would tend to provide inaccurate information to customers (likely because they're not aware, or don't bother to double confirm with the right colleagues/manager).

Anyway, since your issue resolved even without opting for Public IP, I guess it is settled then.

Hi guys,

I'm currently using Unifi, planning to migrate to Astro Fibre. They are using the same Unifi modem right? Can I still use my Archer AX90 router? Because the router that they are giving seems very basic.

I have been trying to setup my TpLink BE550 router for Astro Fibre. But so far unsuccessful.
Used vlan 630 and left everything else disabled (iptv, voip, multicast).
Connected to the TM fibre modem via LAN2

Anyone can help please?

Not at all. They are using "Skyworth RG21", an Astro Fibre branded WiFi 6 router. If you sign up Astro Fibre today, this is the only router model that you'll be getting.

Contact Astro customer service, tell them to provide you the PPPoE username and password.

If they've provided you the credentials, make sure you manually enter the username ends with "@astrobb.com.my".
Example: 123456789@astrobb.com.my

One less or wrong character will result in authentication failure (Internet won't up), so make sure you double check and entered it correctly.
Same goes for password, as it is in random alphabets and is case-sensitive.

Note: If you've manually requested/opt for Public IP, your username may have the "public" word in it.

PPPoE username and password obtained. Even called them back 3 times to confirm it over the last few days. and all entered correctly exactly as you've shown. But still authentication failure.
FYI password given was all random numbers. Not random alphabets.

Not using public IP

Astro Fibre mainly uses TM fibre infra. If you don't mind with that, then it's okay.
Astro Fibre bundle RM90Mbps for 500Mbps, versus standalone TIME Fibre 200Mbps for RM99/mth (or 600Mbps for RM99/mth for first 6 mths, then RM139/mth - current campaign)

If your apartment has TIME Fibre coverage, usually I'll just suggest people to just go with TIME Fibre.

Not everyone is a fan of using the provided WiFi router from ISP due to its inferior performance, but some wouldn't mind much as the WiFi performance works fine for their home.
Alternatively, you can buy/use your own WiFi router, configure the username & password, then you're good to go.

Not related to Astro One technically, they had this fiber service for quite a while

OpenWRT/pfSense/OPNSense?

Probably should work as long as your can setup VLANs and PPPoE

For past few days, my house router RG21 has been rebooting itself frequently making the services unstable. Sometimes even less 5 mins reboot.
My dad called customer service yesterday they say the technical team is doing it.
Anyone else experience it?

I'm new to the astro broadband. Currently running my old tenda mw3 router because of mesh.

I know about the 630 vlan id. What about the 817 iptv vlan id? What is that for? Do I lose anything if I don't connect my decoder to my ethernet?

Yes. The prices you see on Astro website is the already-discounted price which lasts for 24 months.
From the 25th month onwards, it will revert back to the original price. Before that happen, it is expected that Astro would get in touch with you with new promo/rebate along with a fresh 24 months contract.

Astro Fibre does not have Multicast IPTV or VoIP home phone service.
VLAN 817 is for TR069 purposes. It is primarily for remote management, not for actual internet access.
It is to allow the ISP (Astro Fibre) to provide remote support for your WiFi router, such as configure settings, check status, or remote software update.
Since you're using a third party router, then you can ignore the VLAN 817.
QUOTE(tng55 @ Mar 13 2025, 11:18 AM)

If your RG21 router experience frequent rebooting without reason, then the problem is the WiFi router itself, not necessarily their Internet service.
The WiFi router might needs a replacement due to faulty unit.
Have you contact customer service for assistance?

I remember few years ago, they used to mention that VPN may not work well. But today I'm not sure whether that statement still applies.
But alternatively, Astro Fibre do offer Public IP service for additional RM5/month. You can subscribe this by contacting customer service.
Any actual Astro Fibre users here? Can share the experience?

Does anyone have experience transferring from UniFi to Astro Fiber with different account holders?

UniFi: My sister's name
Astro account: My name

Now we intend to apply Astro Fiber and I assume it will be a transfer since it is in the same address? Or how will it work?

Add on: Coincidentally, someone from Astro Fiber called me and confirmed it works even different owners' name.

Just go to My Astro app and play around with the Astro Fiber bundle plan. I didn’t even submit it on the app and someone from Astro called me and asked if I was interested, I said yes and he helped me to submit everything. Then got the transfer ID and UniFi called to counter offer.

There's a better way.
You don't mind staying on Unifi, right?

Just contact TM customer service, tell them you want to terminate Unifi because Astro agent offered you 100Mbps RM79 (or 500Mbps RM90, whichever you prefer).
Then their agent will give you retention offers already, under the naming of SWU (Stay with Unifi).

You'll be recontracted for another 24 months.

You mean by old customer, as in existing Unifi Fibre customers?
Then yes, it applies to those who are out of contract, or contract ending less than few more months (e.g. <3 months?).

Remember to mention "Astro" to them ya. That's an important keyword.
If you don't, they will offer other kinds of retention offer, such as needing you to subscribe to their Unifi RM39 postpaid line (although you can cancel it few months later).

Hi internet sifu....

I think got a problem with my Astro broadband... recently they offer me a and upgrade to a 500mbps package....but i feel abit strange, particularly in night time usually start from 8pm to to 1am, my download speed seem like dropping alot...so ive in a few night lately i do my own experiment....my finding was it qas fine with astro fibre own speedtest

Attached Image

How ever in other speedtest like Fast.com, even Unifi KL Server the speed drop so much from my 500mbps package that i subscribe to....not only that....i can see the download speed from most of the website also drop accordingly....it feels like the astro fibre speedtest speed 500mbps front the astro fibre speedtest site means nothing....like they throttle or capped my speed in the peak hours from 8pm to 12pm daily....do any of you guys have similar problem with me....i did report to the twice....thier technician also come...but seems the problem still persist...

Which WiFi frequency channel are you on? If you're not sure, then WiFi interference with your neighbours WiFi will always be the first thing to blame.
You can install WiFi analyzer apps on your phone to check.
For 5GHz network, try manually change to Channel 100, rather than "Auto" setting (which often sets to Channel 36 or 149).

Or, use LAN cable to do speedtest as a source of truth. That way you can know whether is it Astro Fibre's network problem, or your own WiFi problem.

*
Test with wired also the same result....wifi with 5ghz infront of the router...channel also already change to less populated channel....i dont think this is the wifi problem because on daytime these no problem whatso ever... everything just nice...only after 8pm orward until 12pm the problem persist....seems like astro capped or throttle my connection during peak hours...Or CGNET congestion on something...

Wonder if any astro fibre user here got the same problem..you can test by do FAST.com speed test starting 9pm until 12am... usually my problem start 830pm onward...

What speeds are you getting instead of expected speeds?

You need to complain to Astro and MCMC first before you have a strong case to terminate.

I've noticed that my internet download speeds drop significantly every night during peak hours, specifically between 8:30 PM and 11:30 PM.

* When i run a speed test to the Astro Fibre server, my speed is normal and reflects your 500 Mbps subscription plan.

* However, when i test my speed using other servers (like nPerf, Google, TM, and Fast.com), i see a significant speed drop, often falling below 100 Mbps, and sometimes even below 1 Mbps for downloads from other websites.

"I've tested this with both a wired connection and Wi-Fi 6 on my PC, iPhone, and Android phone, and the results are all almost identical. I don't believe the issue lies with my devices or equipment, as they all perform normally outside of the peak hours I mentioned."

Looks like Astro Fibre's routing problem? Not sure if this issue only affects your area, but other places aren't affected...? hmm.gif
When the technician came, did they also check the dBm reading of your fibre cable? Is the reading normal?

Since you mentioned that technician came twice to your house and tried to fix it, yet issue persists, then yes, you can try to lodge a MCMC complaint, attach all the evidence, then see what Astro's technical team says.
If eventually still the same, then request to terminate Astro Fibre service without incurring penalty would be the last resort.

If it has come to the point of giving up Astro Fibre, then which fibre ISP would you switch to?

The thing that boggles my mind was, why this is happening right on the dot 8.30PM until about 11:30pm every night.... Its feel like its a schedule throttling, some kind of network shapping by astro fibre to my connection....if there's device or equipment or hardware problem, why other than the time period that i mention above, i dont have these problem, everything works fast and smoothly....

What do you guys think actually happen...?

Thinking going to TM as i got a feeling that astro dont have the capacity to deliver what they promised...

@joshhd

I use your post earlyer to ask for Public IP for RM5.00 per month

But i think, i got fixed IP instead, not public ip....why i say this because when ever i restart my router my ip was always the same, how even when i check with whatsmyip website, clearly the ip it show is different from my router internet ip, which suggest its not a public ip right....

When i restart my router, yes the ip stay the same. The whatsmyip website also stay the same, although its stay the same but its different from my router IP vs the website IP...

So what do you guys think? Izzit public ip or still private ip with fix ip number

So the question really do Astro Fibre have Public IP option, their agent also seems confuse with the term private Public and Fixed ip..

I think they didn’t sent me anything at all. That survey email I think it’s automated? Very strange spoke to 2 different person and both didn’t send the registration email after saying they will. Now I’m looking at Time promo.

Survey email usually automated, well sometimes customer service are totally useless, no matter how many times we call them, the results still nothing can be done 😕🐝
