New MBP rumour has it there will be a notch for the webcam on the screen. Probably it would come to the future MBA as well? hmm.gif

I don't get why when apple released the M1, they basically put the same chip on the higher end MBP. Performance so close with the MBA which makes the MBP look overpriced.

Technology limitation. For now, my guess will be Apple will stack the M1 chip transistors to give more performance. Aside from CPU & GPU power, M1 also have 16-core neural engine, which can do ML and imaging processing faster, I think this Neural Engine maybe will greatly improvised in the new MBP.

the breakthrough from mobile ARM to use in laptop already blowing my mind. I never ever thought that ARM can be use in a complex computing like a personal computer.

Hi, plan to grab my 1st MacBook/mini. Got some stupid questions on MacOS

1. Do You all install antivirus? (There are two opinions, some said need some said need not)

2. What antivirus you use?

3. What casing you use for MacBook? Any side effect for MacBook? Like overheat, crack screen or etc

4. How long your MacBook battery can survive? What is the cost for battery replacement?

Thank you
*
i thought if put keyboard protector will risk cracking the screen? never put any for that reason...casing wise TPU rubber/silicone case will provide some protection... or the hard casing..

BTW, now I see a lot so called "anti-virus" software push for VPN as part of security. I'm not sure but I have iCloud+ with that "free VPN" on safari. That is useful for anti-tracking. Now it only works on my iPhone & iPad, I think very soon it will work for MacBook safari too.

In general, I don't think there is a needs for anti-virus software, unless you are really not sure what you connect with....also you tempt to log-in, subscribe and download a lot of pxrn website....

If ONLY install App from Mac App store consider best option for security right?

Actually I’m not sure, but if you open up the lid at least once every 3-4 days to air the keyboard/screen then it should be ok…unless you’re planning to park it aside for weeks then maybe can try a cotton cloth in between…I’ve seen many people with silicone keyboard case and their MacBooks screen didn’t crack also..sweat.gif

Now I find windows laptop really not worth the money, unless you are gamers. right?

1. aluminium body, slim, light weight
2. good speaker & mic
3. good powerful processor
4. easy to use and can sync with iPhone
5. 2k resolution screen and color p3

Sometime play some outdated game like Red Alert 3. LOL

Plan to move to MacBook because of the battery life and super fast M1. Last year already want to move after seeing M1 MacBook but out of budget, and 13” too small plus without numpad. Any numpad accessories in the market suitable for MacBook?

Regarding M1 SSD problem already solved?

Just put it to sleep, don’t bother to shut it down. Heat kills, so if you can manage the heat, doesn’t matter if you plug in all the time.
