Got the M1 MBA since 23/12 and so far very impressed with it.My first Mac after few years. Excellent whole day battery life and smooth response.

Mostly use it for office work, concalls and Netflix after that. Just noticed that MS Teams use up more battery but still much better than my previous windows laptop which can use more than 20% battery just by one hour concall compared to M1 which is about 10% battery. Maybe coz it is not optimised yet and using Rosetta 2. Hope it will improve further once it is optimised.

Just tried to install Windows as well today using Parallels Technical Preview and so far all smooth with no crashes and all apps working fine.

with this M1 processor, can i install VMWARE Fusion or perhaps Parallels to run windows at sometime due to my office accounting software does not support Mac OS.

I tried and so far working for me but since it is only a preview, do expect bugs. So far I have encountered one where I tried to restore a backup from my windows laptop but the error was driver not recognised.

Anyone here has started to use the M1 Macbook with a dock? I believe that there is issues with the laptop.

I tested mine with Dell WD16TB and when connected to 4k Tv through HDMI it will flicker and turn green for some reason.

Haven't tested on other monitors though

I think the generalization of Windows = Lag, Hang, and Crash is a bit outdated in 2020. They are very good these days. I'm using Windows for PC and never had an issue with it.

This macbook air is not suitable for gaming, i tested with some high end game, the CPU's temperature is higher than 100C.. i quickly shut it down.
Bear in mind, there is no fan for this macbook air..so if you want to play games on it, only for light gaming.

Or set it to low reso. I managed to run Dota 2 but that also is buggy. Then again, I'm sure all of us bought this with the intention to be productivity geeks haha.

btw, anyone here got a recommendation for privacy film? The one I saw on Lazada for Nilkin brand damn exp but wanted to know if its worth it.

I ordered one for my wife who never use mac before... she is teaching in Mara College.... using her old laptop... and this year teaching her students using online using microsoft team, she is really slowed down by old laptop...

To those who are thinking of buying a Mac from the Education Store, and worry about tax claim etc., just sharing that there's no indication in the invoice that your unit is from the Education Store or whatsoever. Unless you're an Apple staff (probably), you won't be able to tell if the purchase is from the Education Store.

Can I ask if anyone knows how long apple takes to refund to Maybank debit card after cancelling order?

I have cancelled my MBA education store order since 22/12 but until today still the refund not in. Maybank said need Apple to initiate the refund and I can't get through to Apple callcentre.

Debit card usually takes longer time, approximately 2-3 weeks. This is not because Apple did not trigger your refund, but rather, its due to interbank processes. Credit Card on the other hand is much smoother because the fund was only verified without actual charges in advance through the Visa, Mastercard or any other credit companies, hence the refund process can be much faster.

Any lifetime windows user (or apple hater) ended up getting M1 Macbook Air? How's your experience so far?

Must say this is the first time I'm swayed this heavily generally almost never took interest in Apple's product (tried company iPhone/iPad back then and never got interested)

I'm impressed with their fanless design but keeping this level of performance/temps. Even intel's can't come close with fans
Very tempted to try but steep entry indeed More for productivity / light usage / portability though, so I guess base model 256GB / 8GB suffices. Have my dedicated PC as powerhorse already for gaming/video editing
