Swapping SSD to 1TB SSD easy?
*
afaik, the SSD is not self upgradable either. its soldered together with the SOC & the other components.

Major negative this

I also thought it may be but my current laptop is also a 256GB albeit Windows. So I can't compare what will 256GB feel like in terms of untouchable storage for the OS. But 256gb feels comfy for me so far. My stuff is mostly backed onto a cloud anyways; both personal & work.

I have received message from itworld. The preorder will available on December 10th starting 12am

Seems for MBA ITworld offering additional Shield Care of 1 year on top of existing warranty. Is it worth? Can this retailer be trusted compared to the other premium ones? Sorry 1st time Mac buyer so not familiar with navigating new product releases.

Is there any shop pickup or retail unit available straight at retail shop ?
*
So far

ItWorld
Senheng
Senq
Switch
Mac City (ran out of some colours I think?)
Machines

You pay a deposit online first then select the store you want to collect at. I have not tried my luck to see if you can do the same in a physical store but I didn't wanna risk anything so bought from Apple directly too. 1st Mac purchase & don't want to have a bad experience lol

Sorry ask a noob question because nvr use MacBook air. If wanna buy mouse, normal USB one can use?

If I wanna extend my home screen to another monitor with hdmi. May I know which cable to buy? Thanks
*
No you can't. There's only 2 usb c ports with thunderbolt. Just get a mouse that connects via bluetooth.

Usb c to hdmi.

Better solution is to get thunderbolt + dock if you have lots of peripherals. I might just get the attachable one because most I want minimal dongles as possible.

Thanks man.

So that thunderbolt is USB c port?

Can I just buy - USB c to HDMI cable? Or usb c to normal USB cable?
*
its a USB C head yes, but it is simply rated for thunderbolt. You probably can buy a USB C to HDMI but I am not 100% sure about the performance degrade. I am looking to get a hub anyways since its 12.12 and I need something that can bring around too for mobility purpose.

Hey guys what do you think abt the delivery times ya? Initially I thought i’d be okay with delivery between 30/12 and 7/1 but i grew a bit more impatient and a bit of anxious when I read on the internet their order got pushed back.

Then we might or might not receive our Macs on time.
*
where did you hear this news though? its why I also ordered on the same preorders were opened.

So took it out yesterday for a field test. Left the house with a near full charge because I left it on sleep throughout the night.

8.5hours of screen time & 48% to spare. Only ran Chrome, lots of social apps & productivity usuals. Damn this battery life is amazing.

Though not so happy about the bugs, there are some clear issues trying to play Dota 2 properly. Voice would normally get cut & audio flips to headset quality though I suspect has something to do with the Bliuetooth.

Tried full gaming, how many hours screentime?
*
I didn't wanna try full gaming but it would heat up. Don't feel the performance throttle as much but it does get uncomfortably warm. Also I bought this as productivity machine to force myself to game less haha. So can't really comment. Safer to get MBP if you wanna play some AAA titles.

Hmm that sucks. I changed from Macbook 13" to 15" previously because I cannot tolerate warm palm rest.
The 15" with dual fans cool the laptop much better.
I still go back to Windows from time to time. I think Mac OS is superior where mobility is concerned due to its battery and trackpad but OS wise I think both Windows and Mac OS are pretty good these days.
*
Bear in mind that's heat only when I game. Even running 20 tabs on 2 different chrome profiles with loads of other stuff in the background it didn't heat up & was ice cold.

Expect some warmth when you are running programs on Rosetta 2. I'm still satisfied. This is an incredible machine for on the go.

Hi
New MBA user here.
Got the laptop today.
Any suggested case/protector and USB port for the laptop?
*
I bought a baseus dock that occupies both the USB-C but gives me PD. do kinda regret because the HDMI is at 30Hz. you can get Ugreen instead, cheaper.

Im planning to get the MBA. But i am thinking is it enough storage. Is there a 3rd party to increase ram and storage? and any effect on warranty? Any recommendation?
*
Get a cloud subscription. You'll learn better to not store anything remotely important locally lol

Anyone got a problem with their safari.
I've been using zoom in safari to listen to lecture and video. Few times my video suddenly stop  and its said "this page is reloaded because its using significant memory."
*
Zoom was recently optimised for ARM according to some news. May want to check you are using the correct version?

This macbook air is not suitable for gaming, i tested with some high end game, the CPU's temperature is higher than 100C.. i quickly shut it down.
Bear in mind, there is no fan for this macbook air..so if you want to play games on it, only for light gaming.

Or set it to low reso. I managed to run Dota 2 but that also is buggy. Then again, I'm sure all of us bought this with the intention to be productivity geeks haha.

btw, anyone here got a recommendation for privacy film? The one I saw on Lazada for Nilkin brand damn exp but wanted to know if its worth it.
Need it because I work from outside quite often.

What kind of situation you are in where you need a separate ON button which is an additional step?

if you really want, you can google it but all methods require the usage of terminal.

if you aren't already familiar with cmd on windows, you'd better skip it & get used to the apple ecosystem smile.gif
