Hi! I'm looking for recommendations of a good wireless alarm system for my 2.5 storey landed house.
Please share the details, such as brand, cost, quality of service and etc.
There are various brands in the market and the prices vary too much, hence need your comments / feedback based on your past experiences.
Thanks in advance!

Personally I'm looking at Hikvision and AJAX system. For a terrace house, it's about 3-4k for Hikvision, 5-6k for AJAX, both DIY, the vendors are charging too much for installation and a big margin over every devices.

If hikvision, will be a combination of Lazada + Taobao.

If Ajax, cheaper to ship directly from EU, but of coz I've not tried the website, so there's risk involved.

The reason I'm looking for wireless simply easy to maintain and those wiring not messing up interior.
Plus wireless alarm system can DIY easily.
In terms of reliability, I do think there are certain confident level before supplier launch to the market.
I heard quite a good review for ONVIA & BLUGUARD wireless alarm system.
Just checking if any others using and feedback.

https://onvia.my/

https://www.bluguard.com.my/

My parents house using wired bluguard since 15 years back and no issue till now.
Just some sensors and backup battery replacement.

Are you using AJAX wireless system now?
I believe both Hikvision and AJAX are able to manage via mobile apps, right?
Do you mind to share your feedback on the wireless system?
Any issue for the battery replacement and the connection issue?
Thanks!

My renovation will start end of this year, I'm just at the stage of deciding which company to go with. I think wireless system is matured enough, definitely more expensive than wired option, but can do away with all the messy wiring.

I will probably get AJAX, seems like the easiest option to DIY, unfortunately the most expensive. One of the HK's official distributor I've contacted is using AJAX for their own office, and they have good review for AJAX.

In terms of security, AJAX a lot more convincing, as they are more like a tech company as compared to the other older brand which started out as security company and now ventured into tech to keep up with time. These company normally know nth about cyber security, but they offered things like remote access via app and stuff, i am not very convinced they know what they are doing.

If you are installing after reno, go for wireless.

A good wired installer will avoid major hacking unless necessary during reno. Time is of essence. The faster he completes, he can proceed to next job.

Wired and wireless pro and con .... plenty to read in the net and form your own opinion. I am just stating mine and you can differ if you think wireless is a better option.

BTW, are you installing cctv together ?

since you are renovating, please lay the cable.
you can still choose to use wireless later

but dont lay cable now, cannot u turn jor.

from what i used before, those wireless alarms for my office. end up abandon

1. using obscure 12V remote control battery
2. operate at 433mhz which is easily intefere with other people autogate.
3. you wont know if the sensor is alive or not. maybe test today it works, tomorrow battery dead.
4. very limited sensor types. eg the glass break sensor may not be as adjustable. wireless motion IR is impossible to due to the high power consumption.
5. almost no way to upgrade. if one sensor fail, very expensive to replace, if its even available.

Having existing alarm + CCTV system for the subsale I bought.
But they are relatively older, probably around 10 years.
Thinking to upgrade the complete alarm + CCTV system in one go.
Noticed wireless system fits the purpose, that's why considering wireless option.
Also, it is easier to manage when away from home.

Not thinking that wireless is better, just hoping that it's a decent choice. No way that wireless can be more stable than wireless right. My CCTV i've sourced it myself, I buy Reolink directly from their website. Again, because the installation is a bit brainless so I source myself.

For ajax:
1. battery is built in the hub, can provide up to 16 hours, only concern is how long can the battery last in useful life span over many years
2. don't know about 433 mhz interference
3. True, but will get notified if any devices drop from the hub, and for battery, will get notification to change the battery when low batt, so should not be a problem, just troublesome for some
4. For commercial maybe lacking la, but for residential, mostly we need door contact sensor, and a few more other sensor like motion, glass break etc. If you look at AJAX, their product line quite comprehensive: https://ajax.systems/products/
5. In fact this is 1 big reason why i did not go with wired option. To upgrade or add sensor, you need to worried about wiring issues. Whereby for wireless option, you simple buy or replace your devices and you can easily DIY

Why don't you go for a mixed option? Can older brand like blugard, paradox allow wired + wireless option? You just need to replace the controller and sensors that are wired, then add more wireless sensors you needed where there's no wire.
