The only consolation is not losing 3-0, but at the same time not honoring sponsor too tongue.gif

Ehhh we didn't do too bad after going 2 nil down, what a surprise. If jorgi put away that pen, 2 - 1 against the current champs is definitely respectable.

Now if only we started with a bit more width.. sigh. Someone besides werner to really stretch their defense would've been nice, someone like CHO sad.gif

Sometimes I don't understand why when we have Giroud, Havertz played as a false 9. When we have CHO, Mount played as a winger.

Story of frank lampard.

We can start the game with giroud/tammy upfront,
Werner on the left, Havertz in the middle, CHO on the right.. we got balance lineup but he prefer Mount ahead of pure winger.

Imo the real test is when all players are fit to play. Should we obtain similar result as yesterday, then all heads will turn to Lamps on his tactical decision making.

My preferred XI would be:

Mendy
James Silva Tomori Chilwell
Kante Kovacic
Havertz
Ziyech Werner Pulisic

What’s been on my mind since last night’s match is that, 6 out of the players i listed above actually played. But the chemistry just wasn’t there, hopefully just a matter of time

One more thing is, i wonder when all players are fit, will Lamps bench Mount..? hmm.gif

This should be our strongest lineup for this season. However, Lampard might put Mount in for Pulisic/Havertz/Ziyech. You will never know.

Mount is actually quite good imo. But with new signings coming in (after being fit, that is), the task now turns to blending them in with our current squad. And for that to happen, Lamps need to pinpoint which players from the current team that deserve to stay (read: Tomori/Kovacic/James), and which should be shown the door (read: Kepa/Christensen/Alonso)

Mount can rotate with either Havertz/Pulisic at times, but a winger needs to play in his pure position for him to play to the best of his ability, and the same goes to a midfielder as well

Also, i genuinely don't understand the gaffer's issue with Hudson-Odoi. Sure, he's inconsistent in performing but that can be due to lack of game time given to him. Why not let the kid play every now and then and see how it goes..? confused.gif

I believe this season shall be another trial of fire for Lamps, with extra added pressure given all the new signings coming in. Let's see at the end of the season how the starting XI shapes out

Ok la silver lining is Havertz looks a bit more comfortable already and can seen his flashes of brilliance...

Havertz as false 9 to allow werner more freedom finding space to utilize his turbo speed. Mount is Lamps anak emas cant touch him on the left or CAM...

I hope Chilwell, Ziyech and Silva can fast2 be available for us so this squad can improve faster.

Wonder why thiago (liverpool) plays better on his debut than our chelsea new players? Is it scouting problem, or team problem?

Still, lampard's tactics and player selection raises questions

Sure, the red card costed us, but our performance in first half was underwhelming doh.gif

liv already stick with their core team for a few seasons while we just start to rebuild this season
thiago to liv just like add a turbo to a car while we are doing overhaul

simple answer will be thiago is surrounded by superstar that wins league last year. even if he made mistake there will be other player to cover for him. plus he plays for UCL winning team. so, less pressure for him
meanwhile havertz and werner are being pressured to carry the mediocre team for their debut, plus they don't go too far in european

but i do agree on team selection. havertz should be AM/SS/LM, not RM. i see that lamps like to tinkering a lot

They shouldn't have played kepa in such a crucial game, was expecting caballero
And giroud better choice for this game too

Our system also problem, players can't play to full potential with broken system. Remember when we're winning all the time with 343 system with right players at their positions? hmm.gif
