Will be very interesting to see the sales numbers seeing that the versys 1000 is not too far off from the 800de pricing, and also the z900 is cheaper than the 8s yet have more power. Only thing the 8s wins over that is the quick shifter up and down I guess but reviews are saying the implementation of the 8s/800de quick shifter is less refined particularly on the downshift.

Though I personally know someone who is placing an order for the 800de even after knowing the price, so I guess the bike does have it's fans.

I heard, the 800DE is geared too slow, so will tend to kena the 7th gear syndrom

Even in UK it's considered expensive.

I think Suzuki missed an opportunity to launch a more road touring orientated model beneath the 800DE for those that only take a bike as far as light gravel only.

17/19 wheel combo. Less aggressive but stiffer suspension and 30mm lower seat height.

Would sell like hotcakes replacing the old vstrom650.

Would love it if they could put that engine in a bike like the V100 Mandello. That Moto Guzzi is one beautiful bike. Perhaps in the near future, Suzuki could explore that formula for that engine. Like a Mandello or like a Tiger 660 Sport. More road going.

youtube reviews are saying the 800de feels lighter than a t7 tho it's 30kg heavier

Quite the different beast.

The 800MT is more a big tourer than something I would even try to take beyond light gravel.

My Dominar feels like a kapchai parked next to a 800MT.

I'm just preplexed why Suzuki didn't see it fit to put cruise control on both the 8S and 800DE, especially the DE. On longer trips is such a relief to be able to take your hand of the throttle for even a minute or so...

Just went to have a test ride on the 8S. A few rounds around the block.

Punchy engine. Good midrange. Reminds me of the KTM790. Nice TFT. Interesting exhaust note.

Typical of Suzuki....signal lamps still bulb type. Hahahaha.

Jumped on the 800DE. Leg cannot reach floor. Hahaha.

Let's hope Suzuki will do the 19/17 combo version of a more road friendly 800DE. Dealer seems to think there is such model in the pipeline...

No the Katana does not have IMU, for both the previous 2019-2021 gen Katana and latest 2022 gen Katana which wasn't brought into Malaysia. I own a 2021 Katana, AMA.

That exhaust and engine is for their inline 4 engines, exact same exhaust as the gsx-s1000, GSX-S1000gt and Katana. I'm guessing new gixxer model soon with the new style exhaust design ditching the giant can? hmm.gif

Edit: seeing it has the rear grab bars/luggage rack and tall windscreen, looks like it's some form of sports tourer? But the GSX-S1000gt already exists, so I'm pretty confused....

Edit 2: looks like it's gonna be something in between the GSX-S1000gt and the v-strom, to be named the GSX-S1000T

Perhaps they still need a price point presence in the entry level big bike market. The 8S is already at RM50k so it makes sense to retain the SV at its current price point at below RM30++k.
