The Baidu map based navigation system is a disaster. Keeps directing me to the worst routes.

Have to fall back onto Google maps again on my phone.
*
But aren't we using heremaps now?

If ask me of course I prefer Waze, more realistic ETA especially during heavy traffic.

Dear owners, how good and useful is the stop&go function in Malaysian traffic now that you’ve owned the car for a while.

Is it a gimmick or really useful?
*
Not perfect, but it gets the job done.

Helpful or not, I will not use it when I want to drive the car, I will activate when I don't want to drive the car, say on a constant traffic of around 40-60km/h
comfortable or not highly dependent on driver in front, if they accelerate like no tomorrow and do hard braking, you will suffer in the car too.

Is the boot bigger than Myvi or even Ativa?
*
Yes in term of width X50 is wider. Ativa got slightly higher number in term of capacity approx 30L after lowering the boot floor.

Personally width space is more important than height space as I can always remove my boot cover if I want more height to stack
and if you can lay things flat it is always better than stacking them up.

Jazz boot space is bigger than X50.
*
Maybe taller but not wider than X50?

But in the end of the day I don't think it makes a very significant differences and boot space is definitely not X50's strenght, if you want SUV with big boot, it's the Corolla Cross and HRV you should look for.

Just that when u use QD Link it charge a bit slow due to your screen need to be lit.

Seems like the new QD Link update enable us to add more variation of apps in to QD Link like Spotify, last time I can't find Spotify in the list to be added to QD Link.

I also saw Youtube in the list, we probably can play Youtube in the screen now?

Luckily didn't spend on purchasing the modded app icon_idea.gif

Why need purchase when github got free modded version.
*
Yeah I didn't plan to purchase at the first place, but just saying we don't need to seek for alternatives now.

still.. if we have Android Auto/Carplay, that'll be perfect.

Anyone experienced that the driver side twitter has got no sound coing out of it or is my unit faulty..Anyone has this problem?
*
U can set the fad/balancing to driver side to hear if it is really not making any sound, or else most likely faulty or wire issue. I find the Tweeter sound not very sharp so you might mistaken it as the tweeter not working.

Hoping for android auto not realistic, i think it need somekind of chip or certified hardware to make it work?
*
Since our HU runs on Android with pretty capable hardware, I don't think we lack any hardware requirements (anyone can correct me if I'm wrong)

I think it requires some coding development/licensing and the challenge to figure out how it works with existing voice command from Hi Proton because Android Auto support voice command from google as well.

No specialised hardware is needed. AA and Carplay is basically just making your phone having a second display, and having that display shown on your head unit. And the code to do so is open, hence why countless of Chinese manufacturers are able to intergrate it in those Chinese Android Head Units, as well as using something like Head Unit Reloaded from the play store.

I also have used a no-name, cheap chinese radio (not even a "real" head unit) that supports Android Auto and Carplay that I installed in my Saga. So if Proton wants to include AA or Carplay in their HU, I believe the easily can do so.
*
Agree, at this point of time despite the weaknesses of not having AA and Carplay the car still sells like hotcake without sign of slowing down. In cost perspective they have no reason to rush for this + having AA & Carplay may have conflicts with its existing integrated voice command.

I still hope the next change brought from Atlas Auto could have AA and Carplay developed.

Thanks Ayamxxx for the link.
SHIT! It's really apk sideload. Someone really have the method to do so.
I think I will jump the gun.
It is real Android Auto. He can turn off the screen.
He have installed headunit reloaded apk which emulates Android Auto server.

EDIT: Haih. It's the same guy Corn Android Upgrades / cornbaby93 / Cornelius Toh.
I have no qualms with him but I didn't like he spread that the modified qdlink is with virus when it's obviously just a one line change of code.
Just cos he wants more business for his shopee qdlink modified apk.
*
Looks very laggy thou.. I wouldn't want that if it was that slow.. Our headunit came with pretty decent processor, means what he did is unrefined?

I am thinking to get X50. Any comments after driving for few years? Most complaint i heart is wind sound. is it resolve?
*
Earlier comment said got 2 types of wind noise

1. Whistling noise
2. Wind noise (flub flub flub) at above 110km/h

The Whistling noise seems solved, only left is the wind noise which many claims were common especially for SUV

How about spare part issue? I saw from article they said facing spare part shortage
*
read the above comments, it doesn't just happen to Proton.

I would say case by case basis, I have friends who have their X70 Radiator replaced in 2 weeks opposed to ETA of 2 months. Still slow in my opinion, but earlier than expected.

I also read real cases of Ativa took more than a month to replace Radiator.

I guess it is entirely depends on your luck if parts are available on that occurrence with that specific SC you have visited.

I am thinking to get x50 flagship but top up 10k I can get HRV on top of that I top up another 20k can get corolla cross. So you think is worth to get X50 instead? I am still struggling in choosing.
*
I do not consider the current version HR-V an upgrade to X50, the same goes to Corolla Cross with really old engine instead of the new Dynamic Force engine.

Different people have different priority, there'll be people who think older tech from HRV and Corolla Cross are more stable and reliable and willing to pay that extra for old tech for it's reliability.

If you care about the badge, no matter what tech X50 have, or what quality of material used, you will not be satisfied with X50. Trust me.

Another thing the Cross & HRV beat X50 is the space, not to say the X50 is cramp, but HRV and Cross is definitely more spacious be it cabin space or bootspace.

I don't really care about badge. Reliability is my top concern. From what I see X50 is best among them. So I came here to see what is the experience of existing user.
*
So far my half year ownership does not bring me any troubles and I don't face any shortage issue as well.

This car only launched 1 year half here maybe too early to tell. But I did not find much major issue from other countries like Philippines or China as well, in fact even since it's first launch at 2018 it is still selling quite well perceived there today.

Although there's a few mention of the new 4 in-line engine, but personally I do not foresee that will come to Malaysia and other Asian market so soon, China need this 4 in-line engine because of their stiff competition there, but look at Malaysia and Philippines, the competitor keep offering the dated tech to us with old engine and stripped down specs vs european/japan market, look at Vios chassis, how many years has it been?

Still in the end the key to reliability is safer to seek for older tech which is proven to work if you don't mind adopting the older tech.
There's basically no right or wrong.

I do somehow need to give a special mention to Subaru XV as the car is more value for money compared to HRV & Cross due to it was equipped with better equipment at similar price like its AWD, Boxer engine, Steel Chain Driven CVT + dual wishbone suspension. But Subaru is not loved in Malaysia probably because people hate Tan Chong resulting in poor resale value. It was a very well balanced car with lower center of gravity.

me 2 more month going 1 year. no single major problem hit me.
the only thing that annoy me is driver side door panel rattling, where months ago my elbow knock decrease the noise now it came back with lower noise so i can more precise locate it, pending to resolve.

hater keep mention about 4-inline engine, but they forget malaysia only few engine manufacture, and all going for 3-inline and build production line here.
china different story because you not making 4-inline, other do it.
also they claim X50 using 'vios' chassis too.
your subaru view and opinion same to me.
for me the only downside is that boxer engine, not much 'bawah pokok' mechanic dare to service or repair it.
(i asked i kenal de machanic, they not really mau to touch it.)
*
And the so called "Vios" chassis is too expensive for Proton to adopt for other models for their future development sweat.gif

But anyway the BMA Chassis was ironically re-engineered based on Toyota chassis which believed to be Vios with addition of hot press forming and a few modifications made on the existing platform to strengthened the chassis strength. However it is quite proven here with numerous major accident reported, remember the SA who totaled the car at 180km/h came out unhurt + there's also a video of front collision test made with Binyue VS HR-V head on with Binyue came out with studier chassis, although there could be some variables due to local assembly, but the result was quite promising. Meanwhile the current Vios here is not with the same chassis strength as the X50. Same same but not same.

anyone own flagship variant? any comment on the sunroof? does it causes noise when raining?
*
I did not compare with Exec variant, but one thing for sure compared to other car is the metal sound of water dropping on roof changed to water dropping on glass.

To reduce the noise, just close the sunshade and it will be much quieter.
