b-line manual persona owner here. really dissatisfied with the quality of my persona. bought it for 3 years ago,

1) rattling sound appeared from the first day i bought my car. i can bet all persona owners are facing this

2) my gear box got problem after 2 years using it. need to send for warranty and proton idetified it as gearbox problem (really weird, manual gearbox got problem). send repair to proton sc for 1 month. luckily still under warranty but need to take a bus when go to work for 1 month. really trouble.

3) after 50000km my aircond pipe leaked and need to be replaced. luck again, still under warranty coz taken extended warranty.

4) new problem. my aircond now sometimes turn on and off automatically during long journey.

really tension with this car. feel like mau campak saja dalam gaung. unfortunately it still bank car. hahaha biggrin.gif . still have 5 years to settle the loan. rclxub.gif all i can do is regret buying it

my advise: you can ride on proton, u can support proton, u can test drive it but never ever buy any proton cars. u will regret it later.

my father 12 years old iswara is better than my 3 yearss old persona, in terms of reliability

Aircond problem, I also faced it previously, but lately seem like seldom happened. Last time even I didn't turn on the aircond, it will switch on itself when I start my engine... I believe is the circuit board problem.

I also dam frustrated with my Persona too...

Now I changed my brake pad to Ferodo brake pad, a new problem coming out, a very loud sharp noise occurred when the car almost fully stop. The technician told me probably need to skim the rotor, but I doubt this is the problem, because previously the bosch brake pad dun have the noise...

Really think of change my car... sad... Next car sure no more proton after supported Wira and Persona, now I feel really a fool to buy Persona as my second car... thought they will improve...

I also felt my Wira is much better than Persona, just Persona is more silent compare to Wira.

Major problems with my My 2009 Persona (A).

The day i got the car, its got this annoying engine pinging noises. It was very very minor at the beginning. Things got worse as the KM builds up. The engine knocks more often and even knocks occasionally at 2k rpm while cruising. It is more obvious during very hot humid days.

Finally, on 10 June 2011 i had my ignition timing retarded from stock "step 1" down to "step 3" to reduce my engine pinging noise. Now its 99% gone but then the car feels laggy a little and less responsive as before. Gonna have it reset again this week to "step 2" timing setting.

FYI, campro ECU got 4 steps of settings for the ignition timing.

FYI, Proton's SC outlets do not have the fixed standard. Some told me "Campro engine memang macam itu....tak boleh buat apa-apa", "cuba you pakai ron97....confirm tidak akan pinging lagi"..........things like that. what the f*** man. damn pissed. luckily i went to one of the SC and they know what and how to deal with the problem.

PROTON AFTER SALES SERVICE SUCKS BIG TIME.

Source? You experience it with your old Proton? Did you try latest Proton's cars before? Why my Neo CPS one year already, and it performance and fuel consumption getting better? NO problem at all?

I assume you say Japan's cars good? My dad just used RM8k repaired 1.8 FD2. It depends how you maintain the car. Proton sold many units. If the owner gets problem, sure will "notify worldwide", people who can afford Honda accord or civic, usually won't go online so often as they are busy running business(My point of view). So if got problem, they won't post on website "oh my car is suffering....".. If you get it. Sorry for my broken english  doh.gif

*every car is almost the same. But still maybe Proton is lower grade a bit. "What you pay is what you get". Example Civic is RM13xk, Gen2 is RM5xk.. Is huge different  blink.gif

yes very true.

have you seen Toyota's service centre complain board (a white board with owner's car plate listed and problems need to solve by Toyota technicians) located in their workshop... its a long list. So there u have it........

Proton = problems = shit quality..... yea that was past tense. The introduction of the Persona model was the turning point for Proton to move out of their very poor QC era and move on to be better and better.

It is far far better quality now. I would say, Perodua's quality is far worst than Proton now. Believe???? I replaced my 3 1/2 years MyVi due to lots of problems, crappy build, rattling body, very poor suspension, very poor handling and very very very very poor automatic transmission tuning. AND NO..... this is not a one of a kind case. It is the most common complain for MyVi owners. It is listed and complained a lot in two very active forums.

-aircond switch and fan. suddenly on and off.
when driving, the aircond led light blinking and turn off or slow by itself.
during parking, when i switch it off. suddenly full blast and i just turn off engine to make it stop.

-battery
Dec of 2009 i change battery (GP). today June 2011, i need to change again (GP RM245)

-fuel tank
gas tank door does not open due to broken plastic clip inside it.

-outside door handle (driver)
2009 broke off by normal way opening the door.

-car door rubber seal (passenger)
the rubber door seal has come off the door and cant fit in back.
maybe because of hot weather.

-12v power socket
since 2010 not working.

Question.
Is it because of aircond rapidly turning on and off causing my battery to weak faster?

Any proton technician in here?

My Persona is going to be 3 years on this coming January. And the metal clanking issue when turning left or right on uneven road still not yet fixed!!!

I wonder did proton sc follow up my case or not. Anyone face this issue and fixed the problem?

Knocking sound when cornering on uneven surface coming from Front RHS
Causes: This is due to the power steering fluid delivery piping knocking against the metal pipe and the body underneath it as the uneven road causes it to twitch up and down. This should solve your problem.

Hi all,

Wanna share this link where i stumbled upon just now.

QUOTE
MIRI: Buyers of new vehicles are entitled to a replacement or a refund if the vehicles keep breaking down or face problems, rules the national Consumer Tribunal.

“The company that sells the vehicles cannot force you to keep sending them for repairs,” said tribunal chairman Pretam Singh here during a public hearing.

“In the United States, the Lemon Law stipulates the rights of buyers of new vehicles.

“Under that law, the maximum number of repairs allowed is four.

“In Malaysia, we do not have such a law, but the principles in the Lemon Law can be applied. Buyers of vehicles that are faulty and problematic must keep an itemised bill everytime they send the vehicles for repairs.

“If the vehicles keep facing problems and the repairs are not satisfactory, the buyer can seek legal redress via the civil court and seek a replacement or a refund.

“If the buyer comes to us in the tribunal, we can invoke a clause that allows a maximum compensation of RM25,000. If the vehicle costs more than that, the buyer can opt for a civil case to get a full refund,” he said in his ruling on a case here Tuesday.

Pretam had inspected a vehicle owned by a woman who lodged a complaint that her new car was faulty.

She said the company which sold her the car did not repair it properly despite her repeated complaints.

Pretam ordered the company to repair the damaged portion to the satisfaction of the buyer within two weeks or the tribunal would order further action against the company.

He told all vehicle-selling companies that there must be an end to repairs of new vehicles as these problems caused enormous difficulties to the buyers.

“It is part of your corporate social responsibility to ensure the vehicles you sell are in good condition.

“The buyers must be aware of their rights. What are the things under guarantee and warranty? The seller must explain all these to the buyers.

“The customers cannot be forced to sign the agreements if they disagreed to any clauses.

“If the contract is deemed to be unfair and to the detriment of the buyers, the sellers can be fined up to RM200,000,” he added.

So if we kept sending our cars to sc and kept having problem. We can do that?

But you can complain to consumer tribunal, make the case big enough, maybe the manufacturer will refund you or replace ur car. I think there were cases like this before.
