Allow me to share my experience. My soon to be 3 years Persona door handle on the front passenger side finally broken. I know this happen to Gen 2 but I  guess  its not rectified on the Persona. I'm also aware of the heavy front door on the Persona thus I take extra care opening the front passenger and driver door but it still happen.  doh.gif

Come to think of it most of the time I'm alone driving the car, how can the passenger side door handle give way first instead of the driver side. doh.gif

Well there you goes, come on!, the door handle have been used for 3 years so its about time to give way but my family have total of 5 protons, wira 93, tiara 95, iswara 95, perdana and recently the persona. All is still in use until now.

All previous proton car don't have this door handle issue except Persona. C'mon I'm not comparing to other T or H but for god sake at least keep up with the previous model built quality.

-at least they improved a lot on other parts! laugh.gif
btw, do they need to dismantle the door panel to change the door handle? Cuz the last time i ever changed door handle is to my 1984 Civic! It broke when it was about 15 years old with around 300,000km plus mileage on it.

Well that doesn't seem the way rite. Its good they fix and improve area which they previously weak in but why in thing they already get it right in the first place become problematic again (beside its just a door handle). Its like just because I learn something new, I can forget my previous experience.

I'm going to change it myself and heard from a forumer replacing a pair of door handle on a Gen 2 DIY took him 2 hours. Trial and error type.

Like what I mentioned in the other post, Proton Edar workshop at BDC, Kuching (Platinum) is really terrible.

2 months the car in the workshop after an accident, still not yet fixed. Reason is because-
1. no full claim from insurance. (in fact, the insurance company had issued the claim)
2. no spare parts available in kuching. Ordering needs months to get the part because the air beg is spoiled.
3. raya is around the corner. (I dont understand what this to do with fixing car)
4. many cars in the servicing list.

What la Proton ...

-best thing is..... "ini Proton mah.....memang macam ini...expected mah" aduh. this is what i got from MB LIM Motor (Authorized service outlet) located along Jalan Batu Kawa, Kuching. Refused to fix my ultra loose seat belt anchor point adjuster. Told me its memang like that.... WTF.
-drove to Platinum outlet at BDC, Kuching and it was done in a jiffy!!!

Major problems with my My 2009 Persona (A).

The day i got the car, its got this annoying engine pinging noises. It was very very minor at the beginning. Things got worse as the KM builds up. The engine knocks more often and even knocks occasionally at 2k rpm while cruising. It is more obvious during very hot humid days.

Finally, on 10 June 2011 i had my ignition timing retarded from stock "step 1" down to "step 3" to reduce my engine pinging noise. Now its 99% gone but then the car feels laggy a little and less responsive as before. Gonna have it reset again this week to "step 2" timing setting.

FYI, campro ECU got 4 steps of settings for the ignition timing.

FYI, Proton's SC outlets do not have the fixed standard. Some told me "Campro engine memang macam itu....tak boleh buat apa-apa", "cuba you pakai ron97....confirm tidak akan pinging lagi"..........things like that. what the f*** man. damn pissed. luckily i went to one of the SC and they know what and how to deal with the problem.

PROTON AFTER SALES SERVICE SUCKS BIG TIME.

Source? You experience it with your old Proton? Did you try latest Proton's cars before? Why my Neo CPS one year already, and it performance and fuel consumption getting better? NO problem at all?

I assume you say Japan's cars good? My dad just used RM8k repaired 1.8 FD2. It depends how you maintain the car. Proton sold many units. If the owner gets problem, sure will "notify worldwide", people who can afford Honda accord or civic, usually won't go online so often as they are busy running business(My point of view). So if got problem, they won't post on website "oh my car is suffering....".. If you get it. Sorry for my broken english  doh.gif

*every car is almost the same. But still maybe Proton is lower grade a bit. "What you pay is what you get". Example Civic is RM13xk, Gen2 is RM5xk.. Is huge different  blink.gif

yes very true.

have you seen Toyota's service centre complain board (a white board with owner's car plate listed and problems need to solve by Toyota technicians) located in their workshop... its a long list. So there u have it........

Proton = problems = shit quality..... yea that was past tense. The introduction of the Persona model was the turning point for Proton to move out of their very poor QC era and move on to be better and better.

It is far far better quality now. I would say, Perodua's quality is far worst than Proton now. Believe???? I replaced my 3 1/2 years MyVi due to lots of problems, crappy build, rattling body, very poor suspension, very poor handling and very very very very poor automatic transmission tuning. AND NO..... this is not a one of a kind case. It is the most common complain for MyVi owners. It is listed and complained a lot in two very active forums.
