everyone has problems with tmnet streamyx packet shaping. unless of course you use Boleh VPN. why pay for unthrottled torrent traffic? all it takes is a bit of extra time to set up.

this might not be for everyone. but amazingly enough Linux solves it. Deluge Torrent (www.deluge-torrent.org) can encrypt the FULL STREAM of traffic out of a bt client. which means tmnet cant read your packet headers. take that you bastards! deluge is only available on linux. i dont know any other torrent client which does this. if any windows one does this please let me know.

download any linux distro (i suggest ubuntu) and try it. i get 50kB/s Download and 25kB/s uploads. thank you and goodnight and good luck.

thats is good news for linux-user..
but not us... which run on windows...

change is good

QUOTE
that sounds like default BT protocol encryption you can get from other client.

kind of. but i think this encrypts EVERYTHING. most importantly your traffic to your trackers

QUOTE
well you could always run vmware and install linux

very true. but i use Linux now for just basic computer use. internet. music. movies. only time i change back to windows is to play warcraft3

QUOTE
pic please,

as attached below. i did not change any of the default settings except the max global connections. default was 400. that was crazy!
blurred out what i was downloading (my privacy). notice all the peers im connected to. the top ones are NOT malaysian IPs. success!

any linux distro would do. im not one of those uber nerds who only choose one. but i sticking to Ubuntu cause its just too easy. Deluge has to be installed though. it doesnt come preinstalled with ubuntu but its easy to install.

+ below is also is a screenshot of my compiz -fusion 3d desktop which blows windows vista and mac OSx out of the water.

ts, can u show us a screen shot for windows download using the same torrent.
Azureus, uTorrent compare with this ones?
If can try to let it run for 10 minutes only do comparison.
Thanks smile.gif

i would love to. but actually im too lazy. Gimp is just crap to use (one of my few gripes about linux) .just take my word for it. everyone seems so dismissive. can you even connect properly to trackers during the day? how fast do your torrents go?
i actually download faster in the day since only a few other malaysians can connect their torrents, unlike at night.

ktorrent is unthrottled? oh well. will stick to deluge. i like gnome based apps running on gnome anyway. granted ktorrent has more features. but deluge is new and their developers seem to listen to users so thats good smile.gif .i wonder why utorrent doesn't do this sort of encrypting? maybe cause its owned by Bittorrent INC which is controlled by the MPAA/RIAA
QUOTE(czariss @ Aug 4 2007, 09:48 PM)
UPDATE: Every 20 minutes, pause and resume...coz it can go stuck at a minimum of 2KB/s. Pausing and resuming will do.
*
i dont have this problem. what version are you using? upgrade to 0.54 first. if the problem persist, post something on their forum. http://forum.deluge-torrent.org/

nub question here. how does the vmware works actually? it partition the physical server to multiple vm kah? i have three partitions, windows os xp is in C drive (currently no more space left). can i just install ubuntu os into D drive? does it works that way? dude, i am so ready to sacrifice my os for a better tomorrow, for the sake of better download speed. any advice on how to run multiple os on pre-installed win xp will be appreciated.

btw, does the torrent deluge still show promising results? i have to act fast before tmnut found a way to throttle this as well...

wubi seems pretty solid. it looks to simple im scared to try it. lol.but you are not running ubuntu in a virtual machine, you are running it natively. which you might not want to do

the fact that im sitting at work and tunneling + vnc-ing to my ubuntu laptop just to manage my torrents is too good. its a bit slow. but thats maybe cause im uploading at 30kB/s biggrin.gif

lol@ parsys. nice macosX(86) on your pc setup. does anything not work correctly?

got decent speeds without even using VPN!  biggrin.gif

hopefully some of the private trackers won't ban this client!
*
"i pity the fools" (lol mr. t) that pay for VPN servers. free is good. i dont see why trackers would ban this client.

yes i am behind router as well but it doesn't seem like i'm getting significant speed...
so anyone else here using default setting and get super speed ?
if yes, then maybe something wrong at my side here smile.gif

@zubai | aren't u getting 100 kBps ? i read ur previous post smile.gif
*
okay. basically you can set your port to whatever. just pick a random port. mines like 12879 (try not to pick the old default bittorrent ports 6881-6999) (BUT DONT CHECK THE "RANDOM PORTS" box also. Specify your own port). you dont need to set a port range. if you just want 1 port then put the same number for both entries. refer to my attachment. i use deluge 0.54 now even though the screenshot was from 0.53.
you have to then forward the ports on your router to let anything through effectively. i think its best to disable UPnP and NAT-pmp because it might screw with your router. and on your router itself disable UPnP as well. this means you have to forward all your ports for outgoing connections manually like for VPN or battlenet.
slow speeds....well, they are torrents. and it all depends on availability. speeds always vary since 200 people might have the same piece of the file but only one person might have another piece. just have to be patient i guess. and share smile.gif thats how torrents work. i try to keep my ratio to at least 1.5

They are working on a windows port but no timeline on when it will be done.

Chances are once it is released on windows, tmnut will throttle it in a month or two.
*
they cant packet shape what the packets they cant read. im pretty sure thats how it works

any step by step instruction?
*
step by step instructions for what? linux or deluge?
if you already have a common disto of linux all you have to do is download the deb or rpm file. run it and its there.
if you want step by step guides to install linux, there are tones of tutorials online. like i said before, i recommend ubuntu. the least painless of them all.

probably not. but then again, its hard to say. deluge is a pretty new program and there are some kinks. for example my Active Port was set to 0 a few times for some reason.
make sure both UDP and TCP ports are forwarded on your router. dont know about other touters but DLink can do this

most common linux distros can read NTFS partitions now. if you want to WRITE to NTFS you have to install ntfs-3g. i feel the writing is a bit slow but it works like a charm.
if you want to read the ext2 file systems on windows, use this program. i havent tried it but it should solve your problem http://www.fs-driver.org/

this my not be worth mentioning or probably i'm in the wrong thread but,

hey guys why is that ubuntu cannot write into my second hdd (os xp formatted). I want to transfer those completed download into my XP folder.
I've already login as root but it says read only?

help pls
*
download ntfs-3g. then you can write to ntfs file systems.
CODE
sudo apt-get install ntfs-3g

vm ware seems more trouble than its worth. but then again, i can understand people dont want to take the linux plunge. i believe things work better natively? each to his own

the whole point of this thread was to inform people of a free way to get your torrent speeds up. i already pay for streamyx, why would i want to pay some guy for the simple job of setting up a VPN.
