QUOTE(DeMoNkInG @ Mar 26 2008, 12:39 AM) Hi Raja Setan,As most people would be involved in one or two art (if any at all) in their life time, no one apart from masters would be able to give a proper answer to you. Your question is simple. I acknowledge that. It is never too old at any age to learn martial arts, whether TKD or Jujitsu. For Jujitsu, which type of the Jujitsu you are looking at? BJJ (KDTA - Vince 012 202 6111 or Ding Gym - Quinco / Ricky Ding 019 391 2299); traditional (Kano Jujutsu 012 220 0099); OR mixed Jujitsu (Tanaka Ryu Jujitsu 012 915 2805). You would need to ask yourself the purpose of taking up martial arts. 1. Fitness? 2. Self defense? 3. Others? What would be a factor when you choose between the two? 1. Distance? Please bear in mind that you might be enthusiastic initially if you have a dojo >10km away. But most ppl would not be able to sustain attendance after awhile. So its best to stick to somewhere closeby. 2. Finance? You should call them to check the total cost involved. As you can see, I lean towards jujitsu. Please note that all associations noted above has randori / rolling sessions incorporated into training. In case you are wondering what is randori, it means free-style practice or sparring, sometimes with multiple attackers. The term literally means "chaos taking" or "grasping freedom," implying a freedom from the structured practice of kata. At the same time, I wish to warn you of boredom setting in as jujitsu requires a good foundation to be setup. This means that you would have to undertake same basic techniques and exercises over a stretch of time. Do imagine a triangle with the tip at the top. The bigger your base is, the higher and much more you are able to learn and understand. Be patient. Invest. |

This thread has been rather quiet the past 18 days. No contribution at all.
Anyone to contribute in informing the happenings within the martial community in Malaysia? As for the previous contributors i.e. Jurusilat, Haunkiem, HungHeyKwun, stick, ahtian, morph.. You guys too busy with other engagements? |
