Same phone except for the launcher, no? smile.gif

I guess for me it’s because K30 Pro isn’t officially available in Malaysia...
*
Cant be sure on Poco F2 pro, or now.

But during F1 time, it got way more OS update, if memory correct, about 2-3 week once.
After jump to Mi9T, I got one OS update maybe 5-6 weeks once.

My Redmi Note 7 hasn’t security updates Since January, hahaha... Do hope the Poco is better.
*
Based on previous F1 history, at least got better hope biggrin.gif

Also I recalled for F1, those reviewers or developers said poco's MIUI version actually are better optimized.

Hopefully the same will be true for the F2 Pro smile.gif
Yeah, it's a glass front and back, I'm not gonna risk it too, hahaha
A lot of Redmi K30 Pro users out there already and don't see much complaints on that, so I'm assuming no since it's essentially the same phone.

Recently my attention goes back to OnePlus Z, as recently leaked benchmark hints it's Qualcomm SOC biggrin.gif

By that time, sell Poco F2 Pro and get the OnePlus Z laugh.gif

Not confirm la. I got many aspect to consider. Almost got OP7 back then, but I started growing hate to notch, so end up abandon the idea because of it.
Only notch I can accept is tiny one, in display type.

QUOTE(yangkwok @ Jun 8 2020, 01:04 AM)
I am one of the potential buyers of Poco F2 Pro.

This afternoon when doing some research on this phone and found an article from soyacincau (https://www.soyacincau.com/2020/05/09/poco-f2-pro-launch-12-may-malaysia-sirim-5g-wifi-6/).

In the article, it states that "According to the SIRIM listing, the new Pocophone will support 3500MHz and 3700MHz 5G bands but it’s missing the lower 700MHz which is listed for the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. On top of that, the device also supports 802.11ax WiFi 6 and NFC."

When referring to the MCMC website, it is stated that "The 700 MHz, 3.5 GHz and 26/28 GHz bands have been identified for the initial deployment of 5G in Malaysia" (https://www.mcmc.gov.my/en/media/press-releases/final-report-on-allocation-of-spectrum-bands-for-m).

From the above, does it means there is a potential issue for Poco F2 Pro to use 5G in Malaysia due to lack of 700MHz support?

I am not so familiar with the above jargon, hope someone can help to clarify.

Many thanks.
*
I lazy go study, but generally. Depends on telco, each telco might have each preference of bands they use.

Another thing, how long you wish to use ( like in real life you really keep using ) the phone, coz 5G in Malaysia near non existence this year, next year also wont have meaningful enough coverage.
Personally I skip every info/spec for 5G on new released phone. Basically gimmick now.

Each Telco can only deploy based on the BAND Licensed to them or they leased from other company that are being licensed by the Gov.

Digi and Celcom 4G are being licensed from someone.
*
Sorry on my poor wording, was meant for that.

QUOTE(attw @ Jun 8 2020, 11:18 AM)
Yup, couldn't agree more! It's just that if you want to get a phone with a SD865 processor now, Qualcomm is forcing you to pay for the 5G hype. I wouldn't consider trying this F2 Pro if it wasn't priced below RM2k laugh.gif
*
Qualcomm always about monopoly, even though all those EURO body try to stop that. They saw opportunity, coz most other SOC manufacturer not yet reaching 5G milestone as Qualcomm.

Don't think that will be cheap given historical prices of ROG phones. It's a pity Asus didn't bring the Zenfone 6 into Malaysia, would love to try the rotating camera hmm.gif
*
Dont bring that into my memory. I was die die waiting for it. The near stock Android, the good spec, arguably best camera to selfie due to rotating camera.

Plus you have the trade war with Trump that now seeks to prevent Huawei from developing newer Kirin SOC and Samsung receiving so much flak for their Exynos, that emboldened them even more laugh.gif
*
Sad. Few years back, seeing huawei and samsung rising tying to go in SOC market, with okay performance. Mediatek sort of just not here not there.

Now 2020, with reason you mentioned above, only Apple can fight Qualcomm, but they focus own brand product only. Android, we're at mercy of Qualcomm now sad.gif

Nice. Any concerns on the "low" refresh rate display? smile.gif
Only on 10th June
I'm gonna wait for the livestream. If no stock by then I consider fated not to get it, hahaha...

QUOTE(HazzyNight @ Jun 9 2020, 11:15 AM)
Nope, buttery smooth for what i experience, refresh rate wise, frame drop felted when scroll through insta and browser but nothing deal breaking tbh. Screen are good for those who want full screen multimedia, vibrant by default.
*
High refresh display doesnt guaranteed fast performance.
It's like car max speed, doesnt mean you can always reach top speed all the time at all kind of road.

A badly optimized apps or resource heavy apps, that give 40fps for example, WILL BE 40fps on 120Hz display. Maybe MEMS ( display tech ) will help to create 'fake' illusions.

High refresh display, ONLY benefit apps that CAN REACHED 120fps, or performed above 60fps.
So mostly high refresh display are for gamers, who play games that actually support fast refresh rate.

what do you guys think about the storage and no expansion slot? is 128gb sufficient? I wonder the OS and those bloatware going to take up how much space
*
Really depends on each's usage.

My current Mi9T 64GB, with all photos ( i think 8 years total ) and some FLAC files, I still consistently have 15GB available.
I do have habit of clearing cache ( for some apps infamous of consuming storage, FB/IG/browser etc ) every 1-2 weeks laugh.gif

yeah maybe not going to take much videos and all, but will store games and musics mostly, should be fine I guess? currently using samsung s7 edge 32gb is killing me. need to consider which app to keep as there are too many apps at the moment
*
Ya, I think back then when using 32GB, and I'm dont have games, I should have like few GB available only.
I think 64GB are bare minimum for non gamer, 128GB minimum for gamers or those take 4K videos.

saw one comment on poco fb:

"they will regret... after 2 month i m pretty sure 8GB DDR5 variant at least 200 cheaper. 6GB DDR4 is a bottleneck to the SD865 chip."

Yup battery was great esp considering I'm using live wallpaper. tongue.gif

Surely can squeeze another hours of SoT but went ahead and charge it cause not gonna charge overnight. Charging speed from 18% to full, around 70 minutes which is great as well. laugh.gif
*
That SOT is fantastic.

Is it true, no gesture navigation ?

I disagreed. Yourself are tank. Use phone straight for 10 hours laugh.gif

How to prevent when video call, front camera auto pop up while I haven't even received call. Phone still in pocket?
*
Hahaha ya that's stupid.
On my Mi9T, happened once, where someone video call me on whatsapp, the camera popped up itself. I almost thought FBI or someone hacked my phone and try to spy on me biggrin.gif

LOL. So, means there's no way to prevent? I'm not concerning if anyone spying but worried that I broke the camera accidentally.
*
I guess no, unless disable video call in whatsapp.
Ya, just scare it broke or caught dust inside pocket.

Wanna ask for your professional advice:

1) the EU stable v12 is out, r u on this rom? How is it?
2) I want to flash EU Rom, but do I have to root it also? If I dont root what m I missing? - don't wanna root because some bank app can't bypass magisk hide

Thanks!
*
I havent root for few years. Last time did it mainly to install system wide ad block. It block all kind of ads even in ads.
Nowadays lazy, browser just use those build in ad block. Youtube just pay premium since it's cheap.

icic..thats why i was wondering for poco screen lo...look different from samsung one haha

I dont have either poco f2 pro, or samsung to compare.
But as Samsung are arguably manufacturing best OLED display ( Super AMOLED ), of coz they reserve best of best for themselves tongue.gif
