well wat phone are u using.. if u are using SE... during standby screen.. key in >*<<*< will direct u into service menu.. where got a lot of info there

idle screen but not keypad lock..

just follow the sequence appropriately (key one by one, one after another, jsu tignore the shortcut launched)... it will direct u to service menu.. even ur all shortcuts are launched..

i see... i dont start with * also can.. maybe jsut because my > first launch is the file explorer...

all se set carried by thorus is ori set.. but not all se models are carried by thorus.. hence se set wit thorus is ori, not only to z530i but also few other models..

tat time only z530i is carried by thorus.. nowadays, more model is carried by thorus

the first post is just trying to give example and the definition.. not listing out all the details.. and updated every time a new model is in market

if ur is ap set... nothing is surprising in ur situation.. tat is normal..

for ap set:

imei in phone will not match the box.. the just simply take any box available in store to pack wit the phone..

waterset wont have sirim sticker and normally not warranted by any company, because if the seller can be caught easily for selling waterset...

u dont necessary hv to fill in anything into the warranty card.. even u dont fill in the warranty card, it still can be used...

it is normal tat some ap set hv manual or warranty card in diff language.. becoz they are imported from other country

if u want such further info.. u can ask within their specific thread.. u will get more specific info there too.. and ask specifically to get better response/answer..

if u just ask ur phone got prob? its hard for ppl to think out the prob as some of them are just minor and ignorable..

i can tell u a bit for w810i... although no lens cover and a lot of ppl scare of it get scratch, but i dont recall anyone said oh my lens get scratched so easily and now full of scratch.. somemore the lens is designed in protective manner, the lens embedded in deeper inside while the surrounding is bulge out, making the lens not at same level as the plane and get scratched easily.. even at same level like w900i, i havent scratched my w900i lens too after 1 yr usage.. the phone wont hang normally even if u hv full memory, however there will be some lag during start up the phone and when accessing the folder. explainable - it tooks time to access 3000 files compare to to access a folder wit 100 files only right...

and if compare to nokia 5300, my opinion go for se w810i.. reasons: good camera capabilities, good audio output quality (comparable to 5300), cheaper price... generally features available is more valuable for money

else got for nokia 5300 if the u like nokia much, if u like the 5300 design much, camera doesnt really matter, sound is as good as w810i too, etc etc

as long as the company is not listed in 1st page as original distributor (midland, samart, avaxx, zitron, FMG, thorus etc etc etc etc), they are ap company. even the shop can warrant the set themselves and be considered as ap because ap can be categorised into few level tiers as well..

1st tier - big main ap company
2nd tier - sort of middle man
3rd tier - warranty given by shop
(not very sure of these though, forgot!)

another simple explanation of the difference..

i would say the main difference between ap set and ori set though:

the price!

if change phone ofter.. reckon u to go for ap set.. no need to waste the extra for ori.. in addition if u change phone fast (2 weeks to 1 month), then the 2nd hand price for ap wont drop too much too..

if you means authorised service center to het firmware update? yes you can, but some fee will apply.

nope.. not ap set but as water set.

you wont be warranted by local se service centre. but you can get services from them with additional of upto 30% (dunno if i am not mistaken, view the T&C from se service centre website) of the labour fee (rm30) + part fees.

hard to differentiate among ap set, second hand, esp. to recond set.

it is based on self knowledge on the phone, instinct and basic checking/info on the phone.

dont worry too much about m2, there is hardly fake m2 out there, as for hpm-70 or 82, the sound quality will tell it is ori or fake, but you cant tell if u never use it before. my experience, ori one sounds balanced and good while fake one sounds close to no bass.

as for fake battery, try to search the phone specific subforum for 'bst-33', you will roughly get some idea there.

for the phone, ask the k800i thread if someone willing to point out some points of checking, like checking the time and firmware version etc.

first post of first page got the picture of SIRIM/KELAS sticker.

You request to try and see the phone before buying. Take out the battery and see the sticker is Zitron or not. Anything but Zitron, Avaxx or i-samart is not original. I dont think zitron gives 15 months warranty.

We really need some update on the first page. If i am not mistaken, i-samart is not original distributor for nokia anymore. how about CSL, a lot rumour that they will be original distributor for few brands. Anyone, any updates?

as a consumer, you can ask to test the phone, test and check it until satisfy then only purchase if satisfactory.

or you prefer, dont test at all, so no one scold you, bought it straight, then got home and found out you are cheated? (case example: bought an ap second hand phone for the price of original set) better be safe than be sorry.

have a look/survey around few shops for the pricing. ask your friends or search around here for bad stores where you shouldn't get your phone from.

no buy and get scolded, tell your friends never go to that shop, it is their loses then. if you want to, you might bring the case to consumer tribunal bla bla bla for greater justice.

if the seller insisted not to let you test, even the price of the phone is cheap, isn't that is obvious something must be wrong the set.

pack yourself with knowledge of the phone before purchase. be a smart consumer. i believe 8/10 active members in this subsection are smart consumers, who know to check a phone, at least test until they are satisfied before purchasing the phone. believe in instinct too. another 2/10 are either very bad luck or just not smart enough, bought the phone because of sweet talk and finally came here whining that he was cheated.

else, we have few reputable handphone sellers in garage sales here too. you can buy from them if condition and price is good to you. if the seller scold you out of nothing (i.e. not your fault), feel free to report in dispute section. if it is their fault, they will hardly deal in here anymore.

for ori set, u can check all for peace of mind, all of the imei should be matching.

the battery will have some power stored, last abt 20-30 minutes, enough time for u to check everything before hand.

if u buy ori set, just make sure the warranty and sticker behind the phone is from original distributor. if so, in case something wrong wit your phone, u can get easily get it check/fix from nokia service centre.

because, when they receive the stock, they will normally take out the phone from the box, put the phone on display (or servicing at dealer level) and simply stack up the boxes in storeroom. So when the phone is sold, they simply take any box and bundled it with the phone, hence imei doesnt match.

as for the phone support chinese/malay language is because the ap company flash the phone to right region pack.

sometime u will get manuals come from dunno what language though.
