Declare before the transfer, or after the transfer was made?

I think this is kinda a normal procedures where the bank will ask for reason and proof of the sources before releasing the money to us right? Is that what you refer to?

£650,000.00 only remuneration, peanuts for employing a bunch of fresh grads that just cincai rushed through a $33b company's accounts lmao. I bet not a single Director gets paid less to just goyang kaki and show face every now and then. Imagine if you had a blank cheque to do a proper audit instead of being limited to the size and revenue of the company. Most auditors cincai do only, especially shoplot auditors because they're trying to rush through as many companies as possible to boost revenue since each company has a limited budget based on previous years and if you exceed or go under it by too much you get your ass spanked by management. whistling.gif Malaysia doesn't have a regulator worth dogshit so they can keep doing this as long as it isn't too blatantly obvious that a company fudged up their accounts.

You do not need to worry about submit applications etc for inward remittance to Malaysia. Transfer money into Malaysia usually they won't ask question. (They would more than welcome it, especially now! laugh.gif) It's moving money out of Malaysia that they will ask a bunch of questions.

By the way, based on your SG-> MY example, it's most likely Wise will deal with this AML stuffs before releasing the money to your MY bank account.

Just make sure you prepare proof of source of fund if Wise asks. Prepare bank account statements for the past 3 months, for example, if Wise wants to check transaction source/frequency etc. They will email you if they want to know about the necessary documents.

I recently had trouble with paying uni tuition fees in HK with Instarem too. They withheld the fund for a few days and required bank account statements to release the money. I rarely use Instarem, so probably the large amount alerted them, but if you transfer a few ks often between your own bank accounts, it shouldn't be an issue with Wise/Instarem.

20k SGD is a lot, high chance Wise/Instarem will ask. tongue.gif But BNM would be happy to have you bring back the money, government side no worries as long as you are clear of all taxes on both SG and MY.

If you have done a few ks transfer with Wise/Instarem before, it should be fine. Anyway, just spare some documents in case Wise/Instarem asks.

If the proof of fund is legal you will be fine.

Ok thank you. So i just need to prepare for Wise/instarem. And shouldnt expect any question from BNM which is my biggest worries. I just hate dealing with the governmental agency or authority here, they're just the most inefficient and i just do not want any delays in releasing the funds to me due to their slownessssss

For Malaysian you can receive up to rm200k without any extra paperwork.

For non Malaysian residents you can receive max of rm10k a day or your account will be closed by the bank.

If I want to receive USD 20K from a bank to my Wise USD account possible? Already created the virtual USD account. I only need to share the account details under Outside the US right?

Avoid instarem. Bloody expensive rates. Not worth using them at all now. Been years since I use them. And they can only function MYR -> currency.

If you are Malaysian, you can only hold rm30k in your account. So for usd20k, you need to clear the rm20k before more money can be deposited. If I am not wrong.

Means cannot use Wise to receive anything larger than RM 30K.

Looks like need to use the money runners. They charged slightly more but can receive hard cash.

I didn't want SWIFT because the bank rates were horrible.

Oh no no ... i am not wanting to keep money in the Wise account. It is purely a bank A in overseas to bank B in malaysia transfer using Wise thats all. Will that be any issue?

lol use Wise or CIMB SG for SG -> MY transfer, whichever gives the best rates.

I quoted Instarem as an example only. Ram is right that Instarem only allows transfer from MYR to other currencies, so it's not applicable to your case.

If you are very scared, can split the transactions into multiple tranche, say 5k SGD each time for a total of 4 transactions. Then it's much more unlikely to trigger any attention compared to a big 20k SGD in one go.

guys... you do not need to use Wise's MCA to hold money where the max limit kicks in... just set it up as normal transfer directly to any local banks... Wise will function like it's original remittance/exchange services...

yep second that, tried here in UK for a week, the contactless failed almost every single time, can't remember any successful wave
even BigPay contactless succeeded more frequently than Wise card
*
Hi, I'm going to UK next month. Would appreciate your advice . Did you face any issue using the WISE card for

a) withdrawing pounds from ATM ?
b) pay using PIN transactions ?

Thanks
