haha.. alright, I just wanted to confirm my comparison is correct. I will monitor for few more days... If it's still cheaper to exchange locally, I will exchange more first here and bring Wise/GX cards as back-up only.

Thanks for the confirmation, cuz I do notice the rate is better at the money changer these 2 days. For exchanging money at money changer, I am more familiar with. What I would like to find out is for Wise, if I withdrawal cash from ATM in Taiwan or use my Wise card to make payment in Taiwan, the conversion rate in Wise should be from TWD to MYR right?

The reason I posted this cuz I remember everyone is saying Wise/GX is a better option so I quickly ordered both cards so now wondering if I should just stick to old fashioned way since I don't mind exchanging money first locally, as long as I could save some bucks  tongue.gif

It's always good to have both, just in case.
Like what the other members has suggested, unless you are planning to go back Taiwan again, the small change like coins are not acceptable at money changers. So there is a chance that you save RM2 for using money changer but losing it at the coins you bring back (Taiwan currency has coins of amount 1, 5, 10, 50, which is equivalent to approx. RM0.13, RM0.68, RM1.37, RM6.80 respectively).

If you are traveling with a group, suggest to pool cash to pay, reduce chances of accumulating coins individually.

Personally, I would prefer least cash possible and use card for most expenses wherever possible.

one more tip for taiwan. if got too many coins lying around and you have the easycard, you can reload the easycard in the mrt stations. and when you are at the airport flying back, use the easycard to pay for some stuff in airport to buy souvenirs, drinks etc.

There are some eatery places I plan to visit only accept cash, which is why I am making the comparison of cash withdrawal conversion rate vs local money changer. Those which accept card, I will surely use GX card for the 1% cashback (I know this is a Wise forum sweat.gif )

This is a good suggestion to reload the coins into the Easycard! Do I have to approach the counter or this can be done at the machine itself?

Is there any reason why the balance shown in ATM balance inquiry lesser than the actual amount we hold in our Wise account? Is it because of different currency or smt? Let's just say I don't hold any other currency at all, just MYR. And when I want to perform cash withdrawal overseas, I can just refer to the amount shown in my wise card right?

Has anyone here used their wise account to receive refund from LHDN? If yes, do you have any problems doing so?

Anyone has their physical card compromised before? I just had a few attempted transactions on my card but failed (cause my card is frozen), but will Wise replace the card (without cost)?

Am travelling next month and don't want all of the sudden my card is being used again and mess my whole trip up.

Never experienced with Wise card before, probably you can reach out to their CS and inform them your card has been breached.

See if they can replace the card for FOC?

in my own experience when your app is logged out after a period of inactivity the physical card also frozen temporarily. Happen to me often, sometimes like 1 day working oversea, next day not working.

No they won't replace for free. They mentioned attempted (no loss) to me so there's no basis for replacement. They don't consider this as fraud as transaction didn't go tho shakehead.gif

My app is always logged in. I froze my card on purpose to prevent cases like these.

Have Samsung S10. Can't seem to link my physical Wise Card to Samsung Wallet (Pay) as it says not yet supported. Been quite a while yeah? However, managed to link to Google Wallet instead. Plan to use the NFC feature for quick transaction. Is it just my old phone or because Samsung Wallet not yet accepted Wise? thanks

Just realised Wise charges fees for transfer to other users. Have not been using is recently as Gxbank more cost effective overseas.
