QUOTE(skymyxe @ Jan 23 2008, 12:17 PM) Loose timings can go for higher speeds. By the way, I think 2.0V wouldn't produce much heat, but RAM cooler would come in handy to make sure your RAM's chip are always cooled. The next divider option in my BIOS will clock the RAMs up to the 1.1GHz+ range, I think it's impossible for Hynix to go that high. Tried with 5-5-5-15 but very unstable, run Super PI straight away BSOD @mfcm Woah... Toasty hot proc at 70'C+. Tjunction for L2 is 85'C so be careful This post has been edited by Dreamworks: Jan 23 2008, 12:31 PM |

@mfcm
M0 is 100'C. Just turn on Intel Thermal Monitor 2 if you want be on the safe side, no impact on OC anyway except that it will throttle down the speed of your CPU by 50% (IIRC This post has been edited by Dreamworks: Jan 23 2008, 12:47 PM |

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jan 23 2008, 11:51 AM) tell u what, just auto SPD it. Its there under the memory settings, for auto spd. Then set the voltage like i told u earlier on, and try again. If it doesnt work, then go back to what u were at. 330x10... Added on January 23, 2008, 1:28 pm QUOTE(skymyxe @ Jan 23 2008, 11:58 AM) Yup, nicely done there. Shouldn't have to tweak the timings much as you're using Value RAM. ok.... The speed can be increase though. My Kingston is running at 400Mhz. Added on January 23, 2008, 1:30 pm QUOTE(hazairi @ Jan 23 2008, 12:01 PM) I hv a Pentium Dual Core running at 2.2Ghz. I'm using an Asus-P5KPL mboard using Intel G31 chipset. Currently I'm overclocking it to 2.67Ghz (20%) using a standard cooler. I plan to oc it till 50% but kinda afraid if it wipes. Currently I'm using a standard Kingston 1 Gb DDR2 RAM running at 677Mhz. Any suggestion guys? Hi, R u using da E2200 Dual Core??? @all
try having a load temp of 65 degrees at max guys. Anything above that is just not good. Even if your clock is low. It doesnt make any difference, coz all this stuff only affects benchmarking only. Not for everyday use. Another thing i would emphasize is the use of the 1:1 ratio. There is no point running such high speeds on your CPU when your ram is crappy slow. It just boils down to the same thing. Having a higher FSB is always better than having a higher multiplier. The most important reason why someone overclocks, is for a purpose. Its purpose driven, not fun driven, coz OCing for one, if you make a noob mistake, then u kill your system, this i say from what i have done before. Honestly for the E21 series, 3.2Ghz is pretty much all you need, and why so coz your ram is set at ddr2 800 most of the time, this is very very stable in fact. And the Dram is at 400Mhz. Thus gives you a 1:1 ratio. This gives you optimum performance and its all you need. This is just an advice from old timer me la. Up to you to listen. |

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jan 23 2008, 01:34 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Yup, I always recommend below 60C at full load would be the ideal temperature on OC. For what it's worth, you wanna stable PC without crash/hang/BSOD problems especially due to unstability and overheating. OC is suppose to boost the performance and not let down when you're doing work. All in all, OC only within limits and be cautious always. Monitor temperature and stability issues is the most important. |

Thanks for the advice..Maybe I'll go buy a small cheap mini bar fridge and modify it to my casing for extreme cooling.. hmm Added on January 23, 2008, 2:28 pm QUOTE(skymyxe @ Jan 23 2008, 12:15 PM) Any increase in VCore? Try to increase the bus speed without increasing the VCore and make sure it's stable. If need to increase voltage then monitor your temperature closely. Better to not let it go over 70C at full load using your stock cooler. It's an aluminium based cooler I assume and the thermal conductivity shouldn't be the best. So, beware of your temperature first when OCing. Sorry, wrongly quoted.. This post has been edited by hazairi: Jan 23 2008, 02:28 PM |

using a 1:1 ratio is the best settings to use for ocing 24/7, anything more then that say 1:2 or even 1:1.25, only yields 2~3% gains at specific benchmarks only

W00t! With 2 instances of Super PI 32M running, my proc's load temp is only 48'C
@rozz 3.25GHz is already a decent enough OC, no? |

@dream boy
aduh! do this for me, when u do super pi32M, use task manager and see how much load is your proc taking/ and how much load is your ram taking. THe super pi32M is for your ram la adik. OCCT take up to 99% confirmed load for 20 minutes. Thats why its almost 60 degrees... |
